Globally we are entering a very fragile state: is Asia ready?
NobbyClarke replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Somebody will eventually get a sniper and he will be enjoying the depths and fire of hell with Hitler. The Russian people leaving Thailand and across the world will have some truths to tell their friends family and colleagues when they return. Glory to Ukraine -
I have to wonder if his mate in the picture is Nigerian!? 70,000 raised already anyway and I am sure the figure will increase regardless. The company and his own insurance should be helping. If he is legally in Thailand there shouldn't be a problem. I can only think he wants 5 star private hospital for the duration of his treatment. I hope he gets well and beats the disease as he did with the drugs More info to come on this story.

New COVID Cases Rise among Foreign Tourists in Phuket
NobbyClarke replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
In my humble opinion; the vast majority of the Thailand people have been tested. Some have not bothered, don't want it, can't have it or are rushing to get it. This is a worldwide problem and nothing will change. Vaccinated tourists will catch it in Thailand or anywhere else from the unvaccinated. It is no secret what happens to tourists in Thailand regardless of what they might say for their "5 minutes of fame." Everyone has a choice, travel or don't travel. I am desperate to return to see my Thai wife, however, my choice is to remain in the U.K. for the time being. I do not want to sit on a plane for 14 hours to arrive, possibly catch it on the plane or during quarantine and have to pay a small fortune to a private hospital. This is my choice, however, if people want to take the risk that is their own personal choice. I might be right or I might be wrong, only time will tell. -
Education inequality – The state school teachers’ dilemma
NobbyClarke replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I have every TEFL/TESOL certificate imaginable, 30 years of teaching experience including Thailand, however, I do not have a degree making it impossible for me to teach in Thailand again. I would gladly give my time and energy along with my experience for free, again an impossibility.. Something needs to change for the sake of the Thai children. -
I'm.planning(hopefully) realistically to return to LOS in June. I've been holding back. and holding back. Maybe by June it will be sorted out. I'm lucky I have no children. I speak with the wife on video call 3 times a day. We are both late 50"s so we can wait. As for the tourists? Do they take the risk or don't they? The choice is theirs, however, a 4 hour flight from London to the Canaries (freedom to travel) might be a wise choice for now. Personally I would choose LOS over anywhere but I have a logical reason to visit.

Imagine if it were you or I. Completely different outcome. Next Iit will be the same stories regards to the rich Chinese as they slowly buy LOS. Maybe not tomorrow but eventually LOS will be the same as Hong Kong.. We can all have our opinions but LOS will never change for the West.. As the policeman once said to me " you came here of your own free will. Thailand didn't ask you to come. If you don't like it your country awaits you" Guess what? He was correct.

'You joking?': UK woman's Thailand holiday turns to quarantine horror
NobbyClarke replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No sympathy for this lady. No one speaks English. I wonder if she speaks Thai !! Who else has she infected on the plane? Why did she bother to leave Omicron infested England in the first instance? A story for her social media I am sure but otherwise I hope a lesson has been learnt the hard way. Congratulations to Thailand for catching these irresponsible morons. -
Israeli Who Escaped Quarantine Will be Charged and Deported
NobbyClarke replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
What a Baffoon. Anyone with any sense would wait 1 night. He has not been arrested for no reason. How many will he infect in IDC? People, unfortunately, do not think of others. -

Thailand detects first case of Omicron variant
NobbyClarke replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Let's hope for the sake of the poorest people that it does no more damage to the opening of bars, restaurants and night life. LOS will survive regardless, however, another set back would not help. -
Thailand’s English proficiency plummets: Survey
NobbyClarke replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
English teachers with English as a first language should logically teach English. Does not happen any more in Thailand. Please please government, think of the children not the cheapest wages.
