they laugh at that stuff and walk round it. The Bayer liquid is 220 baht falang price, I've opted for spraying where they appear to come from and walk

SO what is the THAI PRICE ????

yes, however as mentioned you will need to make an appointment

yes you will need a Residence Cerificate (or Certificate of Residence) for the purpose of getting a driving licence. Cost is/was 300 baht for one and valid I think for 30 days for driving licence purposes. You will need to show a proof of address to get it issued.

You will also need a medical certificate for the DLT.

By the way there is a DLT centre at Chonburi city but presume you mean the one next door to Regents school which is more commonly referred to as Pattaya or Banglamung DLT - just to avoid any potential confusion ????

If you can get up there to make the appointment they will also give you a list of exactly what is required. I am not sure of opening next week with the Songkrahn holidays.

it will, I think be closed.....13, 14, and 15 april.......

I think the extent of your involvement in such an event ought to be paying for it, certainly not driving the thing.  Minibus driving requires special skills not normally found in people actually trained to drive properly.

surely a person with a drivving licence can drive a minibus......but there a gain where is one     THAILAND !!!!

Ok. I'm daring to ask the most stupid question in this thread... But what on earth is a "hard shoulder" on an express way?? ????

it is an extra lane that is supposed to be used in an emergency, like if ones vehicle has broken down, or one is changing a flat tyre....not supposed to be used as AN EXTRA lane to drive in/on. I take it your a yank ????!!!

Once I'd deciphered this post (still don't really understand the last 5 lines).

Anyway saying 90% of thai drivers don't have a licence is plain stupid. Maybe some farmers or people in remote areas don't bother, but of course most everyday car/vehicle drivers have licences.

I will concur that their driving is diabolical at times, and I usually drive defensibly (especially with motorbike drivers) as always expecting some crazy dangerous manoeuvre.

there is a saying in Thailand "ALWAYS EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED"

    Hi Ubonjoe.

On the same subject, i am currently in Thailand on a retirement visa and will do my first 90 day report next week. After that I will probably need to pop back to the UK. Do I get the reentry permit when I am at Bangkok airport, or can I apply for it online prior to my travel date?

    Many thanks.

get re entry permit at airport or your local IMM office

"the checkpoints where foreigners might be asked to show their passport." Show their passport???? That is ridiculous, unless you are traveling, the only place for your passport is either your home, the hotel safe, or the immigration office.

There are plenty of other ways to identify yourself.

a passport shows who you are and if you have a valid visa.......proving you are allowed in to the country.....this is on reason WHY !!!!

To me it seems like a perfectly reasonable idea for community service. Well done Thailand for neither belittling the seriousness of the offence or the effectiveness of the punishment. And why shouldn't a German guy be capable of teaching English?

my german mate can speak perfic english and right pefic hinglish....his daddy is a DOCTOR !!!! in gemany

My wife got a ticket. Said whe was doing 130kph in a 120kph road which was thrown out later when the police realised the speed trap was reading 40kph with no vehicles being measured.

But to answer your question, probably within 5kph if it is a brnd new installation. For older instllations, considering the lack of maintenance that takes place, could be anything

a friend of mine got speed ticket for doin 105 in 120 area I told her not to pay.....fine but she did......not know what the fine was !!!

Still not using proper Breathalysers so who would want to blow into a tube 100 other people have just done. Viruses pass quickest with droplets from the mouth.. brilliant thinking on someone's behalf. Wonder if the actual bodycam picks up all the T money or will that be one designated officer with no bodycam???

Don't need roadblocks to curb traffic offences, just police major intersections and stop all the traffic light violators will half actual offences. Teach them to NOT fill up yellow box sections just to get in front of the queues or why paint them in the first place. Basically everything most Farangs already know and of course lets not copy them as we do no better or at least have been taught the proper way to drive although after being here a while its easy to forget... On their phones while driving a motorbike means they have to hold in left hand leaving the right hand free to use the throttle and only have access to the front break on all automatics and anyone driving a bike know the dangers of just using the front break to stop which is the only option with phone in left hand...could go on and on but little point ... TIT

does one NOT use the rear brake pedal on bottom of bike to stop....i was taught to use both in tandem to slow a bike down.....!!!!
