wow you are really scratched dude, following people on forums and sticks to a story for weeks.

go to a shrink before your brain shrinks to mash.

Hey Dude, It stuck in my head because it was such a twisted story of a guy with no shame bragging about lying to gain admittance to a hospital and thinking it is perfectly normal. Then you have the audacity to falsely state that I would falsify an affidavit when you know nothing about me. I know you are a liar because you willfully admitted as much. Why don't you repost your forum here and let the folks decide if you are above board, it was actually funny as hell laughing at your antics of how the hospital got hold of your passport and foiled your charade.

hmmmm....so that's how you got your RE visa... by lying about your income ?????.....!!!!!!#####

No clown, I have more than enough income, own a business here and far more funds in my accounts here to cover the requirement. You know nothing about me.

    BUT!!!!!

One thing I didn't do is check into a hospital and lie about my name so as to avoid payment. Then you had the audacity to post on TV about how the hospital outsmarted you and got a copy of your passport. You're very lucky your not in the Hilton. At the least you should have been deported.

It's an affidavit.  You are swearing to the truth of what you are claiming, the same as you do when signing the application for a visa or extension of stay or if you are testifying in court.

So what is your point? People lie large and small, Thais don't have a copyright on lying. You telling me it's beyond comprehension someone might falsely state their income to obtain an extension. Especially someone trying to live as cheaply as they can in maybe the most affordably country in the world because they have little funds, no place to go back to and without funds to purchase a ticket even if they wanted to. No, never seen anyone in Pattaya that might fit that category?

You are not correct, JAZZDOG about the lying. Every American expat I know tells the truth, sort of.

They may not specify the exact amount of money they earn but they simply put the minimum required even though their income is much greater.

Get real, you know of a few people and you cant verify if they are lying or not, have the income or not, you are assuming, As for the other thousands your clueless either way. I can say with a high degree of certainty many falsely sign affidavits of income to gain immigration. It's a hole which needs to be plugged by having to show certified proof of income. It would go a long way to end some of the problems here with destitute expats.

Great idea but if you're in the Kingdom you'll find you will not be having a funeral or cremation.

    Cash and carry only please.

YOU have your countries mixed up.    Living Will?

Were you born obnoxious or did someone mistreat you along the way?

Trustee or a person with a Power of Attorney in this instance?

Perhaps but in the case of a bank account the trustee would have to be a signatory. The Trustee could even be director of the company but that would include duties. Basically all a Living Trust entails is signing your assets over to a trust to avoid probate and to expedite settling ones estate. Seems I could sign over my assets to anyone anywhere I wish. No law says I need to reside in LOS to own a company, RE, car , boat ETC.

As of right now it doesn't, although there are ways around this.

The Government are actually pushing through a new Private Trusts Act, to my knowledge it has yet to be fully enacted though, once it is there will be some restrictions, for example, a trustee will have to be qualified under the act and licensed by SEC.

Why cant my Trustee takeover my position in my company and co-sign with authority over my accounts"

    JAZZDOG - I don't understand your response.

In order to get a 1 year valid OA retirement visa for Thailand, one of the requirements is that I - as Belgian citizen - need to demonstrate to the Thai embassy in Belgium that I have 800.000 THB on a Thai OR Belgian bank-account.

So there is no hassle of having this sum on a thai bank-account.

But it's of course possible that the Thai retirement visa requirements foother citizenships are different.

You need to  declare on an affidavit in front of Embassy staff of US$ 25,000 (depends on xchange rate) INCOME. not funds on deposit. OR have seasoned funds in a Thai bank or combination of both. Go to the Pattaya IO website

Don't do it, leave your money somewhere it works for you, direct deposit the income and give immigration a lie letter from you embassy. How do you think all the gringo derelicts without a pot to piss in stay here on retirement extensions. Look at them, it's not based on their 401K

Only works when you have an income.

Not from a US embassy, that's why it's a Lie Letter, nobody verifies the funds. You lie and sign.

The mandatory 800K does NOT need to be on a Thai Bank Account, but can be on a bank in your home country.

Well, at least that's how the Retirement Visa formalities in Belgium state it, but could be different for other countries.

Not here, must be seasoned 60 days, 90 days for renewal

I would be curious to see the figures of the amounts of unclaimed farang money in Thai banks ,on which the account holders have passed away.

And if something is done to trace the heirs via the embassies? or if the money is just pocketed by the Thai Banks ?:whistling:

Best option is to have a will, give a power of attorney to your next of kin back home, with the ATM card codes...

Living Trust is the way to go and include access info to all fund sources with the Trustee. Simple, all assets in one safe place. Trustee will usually be the person you want to end up with your assets when you move on. Very easy to set up.

And that's why the mandatory 800k is such a pain in the a$$.

I assume this is a joke. I have a similar plan to control time and method of my demise but I already prepaid a funeral. 35000 baht. My avenue to darkness does not involve skydiving. Been there, done that. I can only hope an idiot driver of any nationality doesn't spoil the plan. Make it easy for everybody and be a gentleman.

Your check plan will not fly.

    Don't matter, I'm dead remember.

I got no problem with what you did.  If I were retired, I by definition probably would have a fair amount of free time on my hand, so running a few errands once a  year would not necessarily be a big issue.  But the big issue for me would be doing something over and over again, returning because some new piece of paper was asked for, rounding up paper from the Thais such as a landlord or rental agent, etc.   I am more concerned about getting the darn thing than spending some extra money to get it done.  Obviously there is a point where the price of an agent could become too high.  Pisses me off that the Thais make it challenging for a person to go there and spend money!

And actually there were two other issues. One that these forums go on and on about the different docs some IO needs where others don't and even in the same IO depending on whos at the desk. Not a problem with my lady as she knows everyone there and it goes thru everytime, minimal BS docs. Secondly if I have any question or problem I call her and she is always there with the correct answer. And I imagine if I ever screwed something up, forgot to report etc. then I got a friend to make things right, kinda like insurance. I've had to go thru this in several other countries and spent countless months and even years waiting for results. At this point in my life I got allot more money than time to waste on BS.
