  1. Hi,

Suvarnabhumi airport will be opening a 3rd run way and has given nearby houses some money to replace windows and install roof sound insulation to help reduce the impact of increases in aircraft frequency/noise.  Airport provided money, but no advice on installation/companies, my wife said most houses will just keep the money and do nothing to upgrade their property.

I'm looking for companies to get quotes for:

    - Double glazing

    - Reduce sound coming in from roof/ceiling (currently there is no insulation, just roof titles, a large gap then the ceiling boards).

So far I have a quote for double glazing from Windsor and also reached out to SSS, who no longer cover Bangkok area.  I'd like to get 2-3 quotes as pretty expensive.

Also, would love to find a company who installs roof/ceiling insulation (ideally acoustic insultation).

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

  2. I didn't receive any tax letter for my Bangkok Condo, so the Condo office said to speak with Vadhana District office.  When my wife called Vadhana they said to visit local amphur office.  We went down there with my yellow tabian baan book, they checked on the system and printed a receipt saying 0 tax due.  We are living in the condo and only own one condo, but we wanted to double check as new law and to avoid any late payment fees.  It would be easier if they sent everyone a letter, even for cases where 0 tax is due.   Next year we'll know now.

  3. At chula there is government desk that actual issue the birth certificate right there, its not the hospital issuing the birth certificate but avoids a trip to the local ampher.

My post is a list based on recent experience at chula only, might not be there same as your local ampher.

Nearly 10 year old thread revived.
    Not to mention factually wrong,
copies of passport translated, not required, VISA page not required, work permit not required.
Birth certificate, nothing to do with the hospital, they just provide a birth confirmation document.

  4. I recently registered thai birth certificate at Chulalongkorn and found this post helpful.  Wanted to update it with more recent experience for other parents (I am english, girlfriend is thai).

In the delivery room we were given list of documents I needed as a foreigner to appear as the dad on the thai birth certificate.  One of these was a thai translation of my passport, certified by my embassy.  I phoned up the UK embassy and they said it was not possible for them to certify/stamp a thai translation.

I went with a thai friend to 22nd floor government counter at Chulalongkorn where births are registered.  My friend spoke to the official and she kindly explained following documents were ok:

    - 2 copies of my passport, translated into thai by translation shop  (no embassy certification required)

    - 2 copies of my visa page in my passport

    - 2 copies of my work permit

When our child was born few days later we successful got a thai birth certificate from the same counter, very easy with above copies and originals.

It is confusing the initial list of documents hospital gives you has passport translation certified by embassy, but the government counter seen to not push for this anymore.

  5. My surname was incorrect in thai in my work permit (didn't match my surname on other Thai documents I have, someone must have translated it differently at some point). This was causing alot of hassle (e.g. at local ampher) as the assistant would say your surname doesn't match in your documents.  To resolve this the immigration department changed it in my work permit to match my other docs. They doesnt issue a new work permit, instead put an official stamped note on one of the back pages saying name change and new surname.  This seemed to work fine when using this to register birth certificate for my child.
