The law states that you must report to the local immigration office or the local police when you are staying more than 24 hours and the house master must lodge a TM.30 form with immigration within 24 hours of your arrival. I bet neither you or your friends did the right thing. Stop complaining about an officer who could have refused your extension and also issued a fine on your friends. Does your father as the house master of the address that you stay at Hua Hin supply a TM.30 to immigration when you are there.

You and your friends have broken the immigration law of Thailand so I would suggest that you that you keep your mouth shut and don't say or do anything because you may find it hard to get back into Thailand next time on a Tourist Visa

Not true, and at Mac Donalds it is same price in Holland as on airport.

I understand that airports pay higher rent but they get many more customers as well so the price can stay the same.

In hot countries like Thailand the water should be free and Don Muang needs new smokingrooms since they are utterly crap..never seen such dirty doghouses on any airport.

writing year 2018, countries should general deny public smoking and drinking. If you want kill yourself, jump from a condo

this doesn't affect our healthcare system or 3rd parties from your passive smoking.

all billionaires are criminals, but not all criminals are billionaires.

I like this family. Since they are gone, corruption is still there, fighting or democracy is not allowed, but gateways will be installed, stupid weapons are bought, ridiculous stories invented about rings and watches, China is taking over the country in many ways, just to mention only a few things. Therefore I'd prefer to have the Shinawatras who got the bigger picture for Thailand, so that Thailand would not be the bearer of red lantern in the ASEAN train, as it is now.

Better to have somebody who will put one of 10 baht into his own pockets than to suffer from this useless junta.

I do not think this is a useless Junta. Living for decades here in Thailand, NOW & today I have the impression or let say the feeling, it is changing for us, the public, there is something which is setup-ed and goes into the right direction.... Just think back how it was before.....

The reporters in this OP were the British press, not the Thai press.

come one you think we are dump? It seem  this 'British' press declared war against Thailand. There are so many anti Thailand threads there, why? Why would a country or paper care about a small country such as Thailand, 10,000 miles away. Why not reporting about Mr Farang falling out with with lover GF from Bed in New Delhi or Sexx Slavery in South Africa. Why Thailand  ..... :)

Sensationalism is all the press are interested in, hence the how many adjectives even the wrong ones, can you fit in a sentence competition. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought it was a condo, not a hotel, but a hotel is much better as it means it can happen to any holiday-maker, the good ol press, not a mistake but an editorial interpretation!!

Then the people in here jump all over everything, it's like feeding the fish. Whether she was a whore, prostitute or bar-girl doesn't really matter, she was someone's daughter, a person, a human with a life. Whatever led up to this tragic event, he left her. When he paid his bar fine, he took responsibility for her in a way, then he left her and ran and personally I think that makes him the lowest of all scum but that's just my opinion. Then he is also very stupid, because he didn't run very far or very fast. So having established he is really dumb scum you can put the rest down to inevitability and all the forum was ever waiting for was the time, place and victim. Maybe I'm getting cynical in my old age but Pattaya certainly seems to always supply 'the place'.

No, all is good with you, it is just called poor journalism. That was one reason why I've chanced my Nation subscription. Today every Bob and Paul are so(self)called editors if they can write 1 typo free article. Hold on isn't it everything outsourced, and a handful Filipinos copy the news here?

  6. If you follow the news, I guess only the dumps and dumper come here for holiday, last week the gratify couple, senile aged British complain about too loud music playing in the walking-street, and he cant find any sleep, hell, sometimes, I think is there anyone normal around? Nope and my expectation about stuidness will be always topped ! wait for next week.

The Thai logic would be all falang are like this. So do not worry too much.

Second, I would suggest, think about, you are the guest in this country, you are the one who is strange or do strange things to the locals.

    Third, bye bye!!

Well gee I guess the landlord has never thought of this. Maybe all his other tenants are people who like living there because they enjoy the party zone across the street.

If there are party people around,  he/she/it may rent the rooms hourly based, more income than your cheap lease, more profit rocks always.

That is no proof whatsoever, just some information gathered for TA.

but a good start, in your case, I would recommend, you hire a Thai lawyer which connect

the Department of Land Transportation and get a written confirmation.

You carry this document in multiple languages, together with their certified true translation copies, of cuase authenticated by their embassies in several languages (incl. Thai language).

Last not least, if you reached Thailand, you look for the next police station, not immigration center! ask them for a written confirmation your document is still uptodate.

You search for a local certified translation office, maybe the translation is about something different, and it just say my fellow college if you stop this <deleted> take much as it possible from him and keep it for yourself, he took us busy for 2 days !!!!!

Keep it as reference in case you're winked over.

Just bear in mind Thai roads are now rated the most deadly in the world, particularly for motorbike riders. Odds can be improved by hiring a car instead.

You forget mention a battle for a  global smoke and alcohol ban, only those 2 drugs causes death of 6 (six) million people a year !!! driving/riding in Thailand is just nothing compared to this.

An Internet-based business does not require 2M Baht in up-front capital + 4 full-time employees, as is required in Thailand to acquire a work-permit and Visa.  Nor does it require sacrificing 33% of gross-receipts, ala the "Iglu" option, for billing customers/clients (which makes most businesses uncompetitive in the global marketplace).

The Internet has made it possible for people to start businesses who do not have inherited-money, or "the right connections," or who must have worked good-paying jobs for years to save the starting-capital.  Ideas + hard-work + a very little money, and you are in-business.

And if one doesn't have a workable idea, they can work for someone who does, anywhere in the world - just not a Thai, without a work-permit - so not competing with Thais for jobs, any more than if they were doing the same thing from Cambodia or Brazil.

A visa-solution for those working for foreign-clients could include a required tax-payment on a minimum income - though Thai income-taxes for those in the income-range I am referring to, would be far less than 25% of net.

Again, nothing against a one time multiple entry visa's a year, the Thai handling is very fair. If you are a tourist, you're the tourist, have a lot of fun while your holiday and your stay here. If you work in some way in Thailand, open your company. Else stay away. Isn't it easy?

What you are telling us above it is called unfair competition and tax abusing and a lot more. Building up a solid permanent income takes years

of saving up salaries, building relationships with other businesses much as it possible or great ideas and lot of abdication in your home-country and a lot luck.

Now someone found out, the COL in Thailand are bit lower compared to the homecountry.

Last not least, you do not pay any taxes, nor you have any insurance nor any coverage for retirement. Who will pay your cost of living in you (home-)country if your internet idea doesn't work anymore? Who will pay the hospital bill in case you have an accident or you get sick?

Last not least if your internet idea never worked healthy and you're passing a age which you can't/won't work anymore, who will pay your the cost of living? Biological it is called parasitism.

Unfortunately, like many Thai laws, there seems to be ambiguity as to whether foreign licences are valid or not and, of course, this allows the police to interpret the law according to how they feel on the day.

Well yes or hold on, a kind of funny vote. Not sure what you're talking about, the rules are clearly defined, everyone mental normal, check the local rules before visit another country if you plan to drive a local vehicle.

Just a question what will happen if a Thai get stopped in the United State with his/her Thai driving licence, and they say, oh I thought I can drive with my Thai licence ....
