Easy to live on 40 to 45 K ..50 if you want a few rounds of golf. On a 6 month METV  the big cost is leaving on a visa run and or the 2000 bt for immigration , I am sure most of that is graft money for a big boss somewhere up the ladder. All that and living in expensive Hua Hin.

I went for a quick dip there yesterday...no signs up.

I read that the signs say do no go out past 20 meters...It is over my head at 6 meters as the shore drops off quickly there.

On the Bkk Post there is a good video of sharks at the temple just around the rocky head. Think I will take a ride out and look.

Insurance companies will screw you like a Thai hooker and smile....Oh no coverage on a bike sorry.  Can you find cheap insurance..I can't.   $200. a month is not in my budget.  2000 CDN could get you 62,000 baht a few years ago. Now it can buy 50,000..soon it will be 40,000.   Soon Thailand will be only for the rich .

Gezz, I just got a Thai license to drive...No test..Had a international license.and I only have a METV for  months. Also manged to get a old scooter transferred in to my name.

Guess she will be going with him when he skip the county with everyone else with money they let leave. in private jets.

I would not mind paying double to get in parks..40 baht..that seems fair t help run the place. But  the rest of the price I fear go into someone pocket. Food is another issue..When I see a menu with with no price I always ask in thai..how much ?
