Hello,

After speaking with a school in the UK, the HR manager told me I would be considered to teach at the school with my PGCEi from The University of Nottingham. Previously, I assumed I would not be able to work in a UK school with this..

She said, If appointed I would need to get a code of good conduct from the British embassy and is the equivalent to the DBS.

Has anybody got this before? What does ACTUALLY is a Code of Good Conduct?

Is it possible for a thai national to marry in the UK whilst on holiday ?

I say this as we are going to the UK for Christmas, and returning to Thailand for the new year.

We wondered if we could do this in London. He has a visit visa...

I ask as I am having to get an affirmation to marry at the British embassy in Bangkok so can marry here in Nakhon Is Thammart . 

There are NO appointments until late Jan... We were wanting to marry over the new year. 

I need to make an appointment at the embassy in Bangkok to swear my affirmation.

However, the dates I am able to book are terrible... I have booked for 17th January, but I am wanting an earlier date but cannot book. 

Do they open dates at random times? as I have been trying to make an appointment checking DAILY for a day in December. 

Can I get this done in the UK.

To marry my Thai partner in Thailand..

Or will this need to be done in Bangkok?

I am applying for my partners UK visa for a christmas visit. 

I have already paid the 126USD fee. 

But because I am going on a Saturday I have to pay an extra premium fee and upload documents on to the VFS website. I registered and made an account, but one week later now I am ready to upload and pay .... It is not letting me log on so I reset my password and still doesn't work!

Then I just get messages saying INTERNAL ERROR.

I am now no longer getting emails to reset password to try again my account is locked.

What should I do? 

As I cannot find a local number to contact... if I want to contact someone about the situation is costs £5.48 to send an email. What on earth is this? 
We already paid for the appointment, the flights to Bangkok, the hotel while we are there... 

I do not want to cancel and get a refund on the original application and start a fresh.

Would they really turn us away if we ask to pay the premium service on the day at the place?  because we can't log on online??

Can I get a thai license on an a tourist visa? My aus licence exp late July and would like to get thai one before

Can a school deduct tax and social before work permit has been issued?

If they have been deducting this from a salary before work permit, which I assume they shouldn't... What should the employee do?

The application fee is 500 THB at the Thai Teacher's Council.  (Kurusapha).

 

(Assuming you mean the licence and not the waiver.)

Just to confirm you had a three month non b visa from outside Thailand which hasn't been extended at immigration here for the year... You've left you job and went to Myanmar for tourist visa via land boarder ... Correct?

If so I am planning to do the same next week. Please let me know if you came across any issues coming back into Thailand as a tourist...

My last two NON B 3 month visas I got from Penang.. 

This time I would like to visit somewhere new. 

I remember a few years ago they were cracking down on people who had more than two or three tourist visas from the same place in a row. (I ended up getting a new passport not sure if that helped or not). If this is still the case?! I think I would be better going somewhere new as well as visiting a new place. I want to head over to Yangon this Feb for a visa. 

Has anyone recently in the last month or two been to Yangon for a NON B VISA :)

I had a very similar situation.

I had a job in a lovely school so I accepted a low salary for the probationary period... They promised in the interview the salary would match other schools in the area once completed 3 month probation. (They also said this to 4 other new staff)... Coming up to this time they denied this so I gave a weeks notice and left at the end. ( ALL NEW STAFF LEFT)

The head teacher came to me and said 'if you leave this school now, the owner will write a letter and have you blacklisted from Thailand' I laughed in her face.. carried on with my last week and moved school. Its silly threats ignore it, nothing happened with me, as long as you are in probation period you are safe :)

I am staying clear and keeping myself to myself and looking for something else :)

Yes, I understand the struggles I have empathy and a lot of it.

The school had filipino only staff for a long time and the input of new native staff didn't hold well with him at the start. I do feel uncomfortable around him as it is not the only thing, this was completely out of the blue and blantently directed at me. 

I have not done anything about it, I plan not to say anything and keep myself to myself. 

My big farang salary is the same as this persons salary, happily my school pays all english teaching staff the same starting salary isn't that nice. 

I am sure with his new name, no one will recognise him  

But where does he even get his money from to support his new family.... does he work in Gambia?

I see from being nosey on his facebook page he is constantly travelling... is he teaching online? lol

Yes non at all thats why I was so upset by the outburst earlier.. Attended a meeting this afternoon about something non related where he just stared at me the whole 1.5/2hr

I have never even spoken to this individual as the school is large we have different offices but it is blatantly clear the message is about us. I try to be nice to everyone in the school always smiling trying to help but this has made me feel terrible. Don't want anyone to loose a job, but something needs to be said.

I feel like I have to go an explain myself to him , why I am good enough to work here (just a school normal private thai school) and that I have the appropriate qualifications and experience, I shouldn't need to explain myself to anyone.

This morning, I opened a very very long message sent in the English Department group chat, another teacher calling out about the racial discrimination he faces in this department and how 'Aryan Race' get more privileges at school than he does even though he is more qualified...

Now, he teaches in Mathayom...

I am at Prathom...

It is a Gigantic School over 2000 students.. I am one of three native speakers in the English Department. I have blonde hair and blue eyes.. I have only been at this school a few months. I have a degree in English, years of experience teaching in Asia and also in High schools in the UK as an assistant to ESL learners I am also starting my PGCEi this year. 

I feel like its all aimed at me. Actually, I do not get any privileges and work extremely hard to get my students learning english to the best of their ability. It is a private school, with no English Program only a Chinese program, so English is already limited here. 

Has anyone else faced this type of discrimination for being an English... English teacher from non natives... 

I understand his frustrations, however I have done nothing and neither have the other two teachers to have this outburst message. 

I was close to leaving the school after Christmas, as there was no break over Christmas and all my efforts for the Christmas show seemed to go unnoticed and this feels like its the last straw

What should I do? I personally do not want to go to our department meeting today purely because I do not want to be around someone with so much hate
