I have read a post saying a immigration office did a stamp stating a person was on the "automatic extension" under the amnesty. It might worth a try or check to see if they will do a certificate of residency that the bank should accept.
But a recent post also stated that their office would not do a stamp.
This will be interesting. I'm going to go and get my 60 day extension. This 60 days will start on September 26? Then hopefully with this the banks will allow me open an account, then I can get my 12 month extension.
Do we need to book with Phuket immigration for an appointment, or just turn up? Is it busy these days?

All the major ones are about the same. I use Bangkok Bank and have had no problem with them.

So they won't give me a bank account with my expired visa, even with the amnesty. Any suggestions?

It is more that a letter. I is a court ruling to legitimize you parenthood.
After getting it you would then need to go to a Amphoe to get the legitimization completed to get a Kor Ror 11.
ok, what is a Kor Ror 11? Is that what I submit on the 12 month extension application?

There have been some suggestions to go to the the family court for where you are living about the process and they could possibley recommend a lawyer that is less costly.
Rather than posting in the pinned topic it might be best to post a topic to get recent info on that forum.
OK thanks. Can I ask exactly what I should ask for? Is it: 'a letter from court that shows that I am the legal guardian of my son for the purposes of the 12 month extension of stay as the father of a thai child'?

Your name on the birth certificate is not enough to prove you are the legal parent of your child.
If you child is 7 years old or older it can done at a Amphoe. Younger it has to be done at the family court.
There is a pinned topic on the Family and Children forum about it. See: https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/381917-how-to-gain-parental-rights-as-a-father/
Hi, just looking through the pinned topic regarding getting a letter from family court, it says that you need a lawyer with a cost of 10-20k. These posts are quite old and I got no respsonse from that thread. Is this actually the case that I need to spend so much? Does it take time?
Thanks as always...

Really need a lawyer at 10-20k? ????

Is there any particular paperwork I need to open it?

Is any bank better than any others for a bank account here?

What is the process for legitimisation is it not sufficient to be listed on the birth certificate / tabien ban etc? Thanks
I was informed you need a 'letter from court'

another quick question - the proof of 40k income per month, this doesn't need to go into a thai bank account? And you just need bank transaction to prove it?
Thanks again ????

thanks ???? yes that's what I meant...

Hi, my Non O family visa expired in May, now I'm trying to get my ducks in a row for potential D-Day at the end of the month. As far as I can tell I can get a 60 day family visa, or a 12 month guardian visa (requires 90 day check ins). Before I delve into these details, any other great options I may not be aware of in this dynamic environment?
Many thanks :)

Heya, I'm in Southern Phuket, and trying to source construction grade bamboo. I think it is 'Tre-Gai' bamboo. I would prefer it tasted but I can do it myself too.
Does anyone know where to source, and where we can meet an expert?

hi @ubonjoe, seems I have to visit Australia, and you mentioned I might be able to get the multi-trip non-o there? This saves me a trip to Penang. What are your thoughts? Thanks again as always :)
Non O family Visa expired in May - looking for suggestions.

you mean 'whether the extension is from' rather than 'until' I assume. That's a problem... no point going in till later if 60 days doesn't start ticking from Sep 26, but I need to get my bank account set up with more than 60 days before my 12 month extension.... interesting conundrum
