the guy wants advice where to move..what are the prices ...
how to organize it the easiest way and cheap
I think that he does not want such nonsense that you serve himMy option would be the south in the Philippines. I have expat contacts there and so long as you stay away from the big cities it is Doable on the OAP at least for Aussies. atm i am doing a fair amount of research on the subject. I think it would be hard to start again in Australia or most western Countries Medical treatment is ok but Rent and food well think about . go on line, you tube, Expat clubs and compare costs of living at various places

If you fly business class you get fast track through immigration automatically. If you are over 70 you also get it, even if you fly economy. No need to pay anything at all. And if you think you need a wheelchair or similar assistance then your airline will arrange it, again for free.
It took me all of 3 minutes to get through immigration last month, and then I had to wait 15 minutes for my luggage to arrive even though they were the first bags off the conveyor belt.
If you keep your eye on airline sales from the UK over a few weeks you can usually pick up a business class ticket with a lie-flat seat for around £1000 without much trouble.
I was basically going to give the same info as KittyKong FTR I am 80 live in Thailand full time at the moment, Going to Australia in the new Year. my family have organised a wheel chair and business class Tickets so should be a breeze at Immigration. On the weather side I have a Brit mate lives north of Chiangmai Temperature am yesterday 13 Celsius yesterday and 12 degrees today

Thank you to all who replied! I did talk to an agent who confirmed that a conversion to a 90 day non immigrant O can currently be done at CM immigration. With possible changes afoot I do plan to open a Thai bank account, but right now it is a catch 22 situation as 3 of the biggest banks here (at KSK and Maya) that I asked require a Non Imm O visa (among other things) to open a bank account.
So based on what Nancy mentioned, One original affidavit should be enough for both the application for the 90 day Non Immigrant O and the subsequent conversion/application for a 12 month visa based on retirement. I just wanted to confirm that.
Hi may i suggest you go to the Bangkok Bank at Central Near Chiangmai Ram hospital and see the financial Exchange Chap By the name of Sombat. Unless things have really change it should be ok i have an account there and never had a Drama. It is worth a try regards Brian Alias Dezza
Many Expats with Thai G/f use him to create accounts. Nothing underhand however he is Farrang friendly and speaks excellent English

At the current time, there is no reason why your plan should not go smoothly. As conditions at specific border crossings are subject to change, I would just recommend checking back here periodically, just in case horror stories start to appear from Chong Mek. I trust you are aware that you will need to get a Laos visa on arrival in order to do your border hop there.
Thai immigration at entry points with Laos are not asking for proof of accommodation at the current time.
Have I got it wrong I note the Poster intends to do 3 Land Border Runs Next year February April and June so in June would he denied entry to enter due to the 2 land Border crossing per year

I bet what the staff meant was they rec'd instructions to move money from Transferwise's Bangkok Bank partner account to your Bangkok Bank account.
Take a look at your Transferwise receipt in the area titled "Paid Out From." Like below Paid Out From snapshot of one my Transferwise transfers to my Bangkok Bank account. Notice it says "local bank transfer" and also from their partner's Bangkok Bank account. Basically it was a Bangkok Bank account to Bangkok Bank account transfer.
Expect since my account was with Bangkok Bank Transferwise decided to complete the last leg of the transfers which is a "domestic/local" transfer from their Bangkok Bank account which they call their "Banking Partner" on the Transferwise receipt. An agreement between two partners and Bangkok Bank decides to show FTT International Transfer coding which is a good thing.
However, the one Transferwise transfer to my Krungsri Bank account was paid out from Transferwise's banking partner/account of Thai Military Bank (TMB) and the transfer did not end-up being coded as an international transfer like transfers I make to my Bangkok Bank account.
How your Transferwise transfer ends up getting coded depends on which Thai bank your account is with and which Thai banking partner account Transferwise uses for the final leg of the transfer which is a local transfer.
Thanks for your detailed response I only deal with Bangkok Bank so was unaware of what happens in other banks. In the event that I/o goes down the banking of the 65,000 method i will ask the B B for a letter If that does not work
Vietnam is looking attractive perhaps Na Trang

Hello Brian,
The way TransferWise works is that all of our transfers are local transfers. The money never really crosses borders. So when we send money to Thailand, in practice we are actually just sending money within Thailand, not into Thailand.
We have a short video that explains it really well with visuals: click here and skip to 0:50 seconds into the video.
I hope this helps,

TransferWise
Tampa TeamUPDATE Just back from Bangkok Bank and my Transferwise deposit was show as FTT i confirmed with bank staff it was Foreign Telex Transfer so that should Keep I/O happy if thats the way retirement extensions are approved next year

British Embassy stop Income letter, As i was sure this was coming.
I got my answer today. As our Embassy was not Allowed so say anything before now.
The Danish Embassy have not being in contact with Thailand / Immigration about this.
Our Foreign Ministry have done that and told our Embassy to stop doing the letter. The Danish word Google translate become:
certificates do not lie within the ambitious attestation of the embassy.
I like to tell you that our Embassy can easy check our income.
How much we have pay in tax and so on.
As all the infomation is in a database that the Embassy can check. So what ever the problem is between Danish Foreign Ministry and Thailand (Immigration) i think is something else.
Only try to give some infomation about it.
Kindly.
I spoke to a Danish friend just a few minutes ago and he said he has to send copies of his pension ect by mail to the Embassy and it is a 2 to 4 week period before he gets the letter returned to him, Sadly he does not use the Internet and I am not sure he accepted as gospel what i told him Quote They can not do That Unquote
He is going to ring them today

Hi I have a Aussie account and used both Orbit and Transferwise to send money here.
They have a different way of calculating fees so a direct comparison is difficult. In most cases there is little difference in the amount in your Thai Bank Book, Both of these companies can be googled and are easily found. Please note they have different requirements to to sign as one is British and Orbit is from NZ.
PS the exchange rates basically are the same as the mid rate

I think they started enforcing the 90 day reports before Thai Visa existed. It was somewhere around 1999 to 2001. The 90 day reports have been required since 1979 when the immigration act was written.
They have been enforcing the TM30 form for businesses for a long time. It is only within the last 3 or so years that they started enforcing them for individuals.
Hi some one brought this old post to my attention as I am due to fly out on the 30th of January 2019 and that will make me 2 days in arrears. I asked at Rayong
Maptaphut Immigration Office, Rayong
and the officer said Mai Phen Rai or report not required . However if i get a different officer later next year may be a different issue. Food for thought I think i will do it on line just to be safe

I usually take propanolol when it starts to hurt, can last from 15-60 minutes and obviously, it takes just as long for the propranolol to do its work but well.
What's the name of the medicine you use?
I never have pain in my left arm, when this happens but I do have something else.
One morning I woke up, about four months ago, with extreme pain in my arm/shoulder, and now four months later I can still not pull my left arm up high enough and it hurts when I have to put on a shirt but its getting less by the day.
I think that's something totally unrelated though but it's plain weird, as I can't find a cause but it's almost over now, must've stretched a muscle somehow without realizing it. Never saw a doctor for it, that's me.
Hi I definitely have Angina attacks, Bypass and stents as well The medicine i have is called Isorem 5 You can buy in strips of ten or a box of 100 about 25 baht for a strip of ten. there should be a few of the bigger pharmacies carry it. Basically it increases blood flow, you place a Tablet under your Tongue and let it dissolve fairly quick acting and Non addictive, can do no harm even if your issues are not Cardiac dont place too much reliance on Stress tests I passed all of them until i collapsed a angiogram found i had 95% blockages so definitely required a bypass Not saying that is your issue only what happened to me back in 96.
AS a side remark when i lived in the Philippines expats had a saying if in pain catch the Plane

First five years it only happened like once every few months so I didn't take it very serious, then this year once every few weeks, still didn't think to much of it, but now multiple times a week. Before spending a fortune on tests in hospitals I was wondering if anyone here could provide some clues.
sounds like Angina or what they call T I A's usually causes pain in left arm and Jaw but can cause the same symptoms in the right side Yep I have had both sides play up however mostly in my left side. I Carry tablets or spray with me Google this if your chest pain lasts longer than a few minutes and doesn't go away when you rest or take your angina medications, it may be a sign you're having a heart attack. ... If stable angina gets worse or changes, seek medical attention immediately. the other possibility is a pinched Nerve in your neck or Shoulders

Those children are dual citizens and it would be easy to go to the Australian embassy in Bangkok and apply for Australian Passports for them. He would need to take their birth certificates with him to prove that he is the father of them and they would not need any visa's to enter Australia. Yes, he would need to get a spousal visa (a subclass 309 (temporary) for 2 years and then a subclass 100 (permanent))for his wife and that will cost him AUD$7160 and can take up to 17 months to be approved, but if they apply here in Thailand then she must be in Thailand when it is approved otherwise he can take her to Australia on a 3 month tourist visa to start with and then come back here for a 2 week holiday and apply for a 6 or 12 month tourist visa. He needs to open an online account with the Immigration department and his email address is listed on the applcation and they will send an email when the decision has been made
Thanks Russell17au the two younger children are already registered and the older Thai Boy most likely would stay in Thailand. I will pass on this message the two main issues can he stay here in the long run I doubt it. And so to keep the family intact he would have take them to Australia. As he is on an aged pension I guess in some way Centrelink would step in with Child support Regards dezza

Gee, that's funny because I was responding to a claim that a person could get a retirement visa for Australia and there is no such visa and what I described there was what I had to do to get my Thai wife her residents visa to Australia (Partner (provisional) visa 309 and her Partner (permanent) visa 100) when I first applied for it for her in January 2013. You should really learn to read what I was quoting to which was a claim about getting a retirement visa for Australia.
Not trying to side step The Issue however any idea how Australia would treat a Pensioner (Thai Wife) who married a Thai, now has a couple of Children, Dual nationals, so I would imagine only would need a Visa for their Mum I have a neighbour in that situation . certainly it is highly unlikely that he can stay here, Except by using an Agent.

Sure, just leave the wife and kids.
You really are a piece of work.
Hope your wife loves all your money dearly because it seems to be your only redeeming feature,
chatting with a friends Thai wife this Morning about her Aussie/ Thai Children what happens to them if a Husband, has to leave Ok they are on the very basic income of 30,000 baht. however that is better than what they may or not get when he leaves. I guess this affects many Thai Families. Perhaps the Thai Govt will offer Compensation, 55 55 or ha ha

Hi I have friend who uses his Argentine passport to enter and gets 90 days on arrival Visa free
Yes a friend Not me * so far this year he has done 2 land crossings plus a 2 month extension
and his current permission to stay expires 21 November.
He is determined he can do another Land crossing into Cambodia.
I have told him that is not a good idea and should fly out or get another extension
as he most likely will be denied a further land crossing this year.
Perhaps Joe is the best person to give me some advice on what his options are.
Am I correct in my assessment of his situations or does he have other options?
He is married with Thai Children and his pension is not enough for retirement visa nor has he any chance of saving or borrowing the 40,000 baht
Apparently different rules for Argentine citizens

Multiply fortnightly income by 26 then divide by 12 for the monthly amount. At 23 baht to the dollar that's a bit over 42,000.
Enough for the marriage visa requirements, to which I think Will was referring, but well short of the requirements for retirees.
Not if you are Married to a Non Australian EG Thai the Pension drops to Roughly $630 pfn or in Baht terms
1,260AUD =30,001.77THB the basic pension is not enough unless centrelink does not know and that is a different issue

3 hours ago, Will27 said:
You wouldn't want the Aussie dollar to drop a bit though.
On the current exchange rate, that's about 300 Baht per month over.
Romeo Sierra the Aussie Pension barely reaches 40,000 baht ATM per 4 week payment and if Centrelink know you are married to a Non eligible person it drops to Roughly 30,000
Age Pension rates – Single (per fortnight)
From 20 September 2018From Base$834.40$826.20$8.20 pf
1,703AUD = 40,577.39THB and this is the amount I received this month

Immigration on departure or entry to the country do not care about 90 day reports since it is not their responsibility to check for them.
It is your local immigration office that could make a problem for not doing the report when you do your first report after returning to the country. You could be fined 2000 baht for not doing the report.
Greetings I just did my 90 day report on 31st Oct at Marraput/ Rayong same time as extension. the 90 days ends January 28th 2019. I am departing 30th January to Australia, I asked the I/O if i needed to do a new report by the 28th he said no need as there is a 7 day grace period, Possibly a local decision. I may do an online application just to be safe
