  1. I stopped using the zebra crossings around the Moat in Chiang Mai. Especially the ones on the south side of the Moat with traffic lights.

Red lights without cameras achieve very little to nothing in Thailand.

The Police in CM are currenty focused on helmet less m/c riders which is good however in 7 years living near the Moat I have never witnessed Police monitoring for Red light runners of any vehicle & bike types.

Will all vehicles working on the ride hailing apps being required to have missing seatbelts, a broken meter covered in an old towel mounted on top of the dashboard and be driven by a chap in a sweaty blue shirt, it's collar protected by a piece of paper held in place by two paperclips?

    Only fair!

Don't forget the trunk full of LPG gas tank.

With meter off not to mention paying for a trip off meter quoted as including all tolls only to be taken on the regular road route directly below the Toll Road.

This will likely be "discussed" at the taxpayers expense for many years and will go nowhere
it does sound good, that is the hype to get people excited to keep the discussion and the money flowing
i too thought such would be good here, but i think a rally would be better
as drivers cannot complain about potholes then lol
but seriously to talk about doing it in BKK is just dumb,
as just no way it can happen without a tonne of disruption to many businesses
the only roads suitable are the elevated toll highways, yay first F1 race with toll booths (obvs they cannot use)

There is a racetrack in Buriram that would be better suited than trying to plan for BKK
but that would be too straight forwards, so less discussion, so less funds

Note Buriram Airport already has a major new terminal building probably designed with international flights in mind and associated runway expansion nearing completion. Chang International Circuit with a Moto GP Race track layout is about 38Km from the airport.

A major investment currently operating with only 2 return flights a day to DMK airport in Bangkok - "Amazing Thailand".

I wonder if the PM is fully aware.

But no crack down on stray dogs to protect Thailand's world class tourism image.

killed ?   that's a pretty harsh statement.... I think the proper term would be Euthanized and the action should be an immediate repsonse

Closeup 45 caliber jacketed hollow ...this should do the trick ...

In Thailand it is actually not easy to find a vet to euthanize a sick pet. Not all vets perform this service. I think a court would have to order the euthanization for it to happen promptly.

The Thai Revenue Department is currently drafting legislation to tax the overseas income of individuals residing in Thailand.

According to Kulaya Tantitemit, the director-general of the department, this draft is aligned with the international principle of worldwide income under the residence rule.

This principle mandates that an individual's income, regardless of its origin, should be taxed by the country where the individual resides for a specific period.

To implement this, an amendment to Section 41 of the Revenue Code is required. The proposed amendment would require individuals residing in Thailand for 180 days or more to pay personal income tax on overseas income, even if that income is not brought into Thailand.

In the first 11 months of the 2024 fiscal year, the Revenue Department collected 1.963 trillion baht, surpassing its target by 0.4% or 8.44 billion baht.

This strong performance was attributed to government measures aimed at stimulating consumption, such as the easy e-Receipt program, which boosted the collection of value-added tax from domestic consumption.

Ms. Kulaya anticipates that by the end of this fiscal year on September 30, the department will meet its target of 2.28 trillion baht.

For the fiscal year 2025, beginning on October 1, the Ministry of Finance has set a target for the department to collect 2.372 trillion baht.

I saw a YouTube video a few weeks ago, an interview of an Interior Ministry official, that said the funds did not have to be in a Thai bank. I'm here on a Marriage Visa and would love to be able to use the DVT instead because it would make my life here so much easier. This recent report is encouraging but I'm not planning to apply for one until the details settle. By the way, the Interior Ministry official was positively exuberant about the DVT but it's the Immigration department that controls visas so it would be wise to keep your enthusiasm in check.
