Renewing my 5 year bike license in Chiang Rai.
OneeyedJohn replied to OneeyedJohn's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
My wife tells me today there is a lot of Covid in the town of Chiang Rai, places like HomePro and Makro are having problems, so my going to Immigration and DLT tomorrow is worrying despite being vaccinated and having new good quality masks in a dazzling array of colours. -

Well, 90 day report done online with my address displayed on it is proof of my address, what else can I provide, how about the bank statements from UK with my name and address in English on them. I don't know , I truly despair at the amount of beauocracy, paperwork, call it what you like, involved in doing the simplest things in Thailand. Why do we have to keep repeating everything we do every frigggin year? -

Renewing my 5 year bike license in Chiang Rai.
OneeyedJohn posted a topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
So my birthday is New Years Eve and I have 3 months to apply for a new license. I get my 2 copies of passport, 2 copies of my 90 day online report to prove my address, and photos passport size and small size, so I confidently set off to complete stage 1 in my local village by going to the health clinic for a medical certificate. I was refused, they said I had to go to hospital because of my eye, which was ridiculous. I came home fuming and argued with my wife about how wrong this was, and how I was not prepared to go to hospital and get sucked into a bunch of tests that are completely unnecessary. That's not even mentioning the aggravation ,the cost and waste of time. So even after my wifes brother in law, her best friends and her farang husband and her brother in law and his business partner in car sales all said I would need to go to hospital , I refused and got my wife on a Saturday morning to take me to the first clinic we saw on our way into town. It wasn't very far and appeared to be full of pregnant women, nevertheless, we weren't refused and after a very short 10 - 15 minutes walked out with a medical certificate signed and stamped by a very pleasant male doctor who chatted to me for a few minutes. They took my BP, weighed me and asked how tall I was. 100 baht later I walked out delighted. Stage 2 is immigration and the residence letter. If they ask for money at first I will say can I have a 'bi sec rap ngern' which is thai for receipt, if that doesn't throw them I will just pay and move on to stage 3 - the DLT. -
Thailand to introduce 500 baht tourist entry fee from Jan 1st

I remember that, was a right pia, as one usually ran down the amount of spare baht one had at the end of a hoiday, then suddenly you have to cough up 500 baht. -

That is two ( 2 ) copies of everything, including the TM7. I have to say that sometimes I am very tempted to get something wrong, or deliberately forget a document, just so they can tell me what is missing, not in a way that necessitates me returning another day, but something I can pull out of my folder. -
The only other thing I would say is after seeing how recently you joined this forum and your lack of posts, tells me that you maybe thought you didn't need any help or guidance when you first arrived. Well I did, and Thai Visa was a huge source of helpful information. I made real life friends of course, but this forum has members that know most things.

Well it works for most everyone else. Either you misunderstand the rules regarding online, by that I mean has your passport been renewed recently and not registered with immigration, or you are not filling out the forms correctly online. If any of your information is even slightly wrong - mispelling, wrong street number on address, date of entry etc etc etc. Look to yourself before you start blaming others for your difficulties.

90 day report online is working ?

I get my pensions from Uk every 28 days and another one on the 1st of every month. Even though I keep a spreadsheet of my spending every month I still get it wrong when the 28 days is up. So I understand how hard it is for people to count the 90 days.???? -

When you go to Makro some 20 kilometres away and arrive in the car park with some uniformed idiot blowing a whistle every time he sees a moving vehicle, and you just turn around and go home. It's especially painful when you are on a bike like me. -

When a football team like Chelsea, my childhood idols, have a team of individuals whose names I can't even pronounce is when I began to lose interest in sport. Saying that, one has to say how refreshing the womens tennis US Open final will be. -
Extension of stay - NON-O / Thai wife
OneeyedJohn replied to RutNL's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
So, if u had the choice Joe, would u have a marriage or retirement extension. I am so bored with having money in the bank and nothing to do with it, I have just spent £80 on two kitchen implements, a salt and spice shaker set, and a hasselback potato slicer.
