There is no doubt this is racist.
Many officials in Thailand still believe the myth that Thailand is so very special for foreign tourists -- unlike anyplace in the world -- that they will put up with being treated like fools just for the privilege of being in Thailand. National parks and other places have gotten away with it in part by signs (like the one at the top of this thread) only in Thai so most tourists don't even know they're being gouged. They just pay what they're told to pay. I've visited a couple of national parks in Thailand, and they were nice enough, but I have no interest in visiting any more until those in change end this sort of xenophobic insult.- 2

I don't know what the masses will do, but I'm seriously considering pulling the plug. As an American, it is much cheaper and much less bother for me to spend 6-12 months in Mexico rather than Thailand. I'll admit part of that decision will be because I speak Spanish quite well but even after 4 years of really trying, I can't manage to speak any more than the very simplest survival Thai.
These decisions depend so much on individual circumstances. Too hard to try to generalize about "the masses."- 4

My bank won't say exactly how long it will take to prepare the necessary docs (letter of account ownership, 12 months of statements and 12 credit advice for international transfers). If they do it all on a Thursday (though they say it may be Friday), will the docs still be acceptable to TI at CW if I make an appointment for the following Monday?
Thanks. -
I'll be extending my 0A-based permission to stay in June. I'll have just the 400K/40K baht cover that's been needed the past few years. To avoid the problem of a misinformed IO that the OP talked about in the original post, is there a link to something official stating clearly for TI that the USD100K cover will not be required until September of this year? I'd like some official document to show TI (it will be at CW).

Unless you current insurance specifically states it covers treatment for covid 19 it will not be accepted for a Thailand pass application.
You can find 30 days of covid 19 insurance that you will need for the Thailand Pass for as little as 7000 baht dependent upon your age.
Oh. 30 days will be enough for the Thailand Pass? I thought the Covid 19 insurance needed to be valid for the entire length of my stay in Thailand (which would be until the end of my new extension of stay, the end of June 2023). I will be returning to Thailand from the US on a one-way ticket.
If the 400K/40K insurance says it covers Covid (it is with Pacific Cross and they say on their website all their plans cover Covid)? -
I have been doing extensions for a number of years based on an original NonImm OA visa. My next extension will be end of June this year.
I currently have the required 400K/40K baht health insurance. As I understand it, because I will get my next extension before September, I will only need to renew the 400K/40K insurance. My question is, will this also satisfy the US$ 10,000 Covid insurance needed for the Thailand Pass if I go to the US for a few weeks after my extension? (400K baht is more than US$ 10,000, unless there's a massive devaluation of the baht).
I do understand that for my NEXT extension (in 2023) I will need US$ 100,000 in health insurance. I'll worry about that when the time comes.
Thanks. -

I travel to Thailand (southern islands) yearly for a month or two or three. When in Thailand I feel 20 years younger. I loose a minimum of 20 lbs per visit. Am a lot more active by walking, hiking, biking, swimming, diving, etc, etc.
So my answer to the question is YES, Thailand is a healthier environment to live in.
What you mean is that Thailand is a nice place to live a healthy lifestyle in. If you laze around on the sofa, drink like a fish and eat like a pig, you'll be as unhealthy as if you did the same anywhere else.

Don't worry, like all clampdowns it will be forgotten in a few days.
Sadly, this is too true. Like the "clampdowns" on motorcycles with loud, illegal exhaust pipes. Announce a clampdown for PR purposes, man a few checkpoints for a few days, then drop it.

Is it safe to assume everything is closed until Monday the 18th and no sense trying to do online 90-day report before then?

I hear things to this effect. How "official" is it?

I've been extending permission to stay based on original NonImm O-A visa for a few years now.
Can I convert the reason for extension of stay to NonImm O (marriage) while in country and at time of my next extension? If so, what documents will be needed? Does the required 400K baht in the bank need to be cured for a certain number of months beforehand?

Amazingly, I could not find the answer to this simple question online:
To ride the SRT red line (Bang Sue to Taling Chan), can I pay with either my MRT fare card or my BTS (Rabbit) fare card?
Thanks. -
On the Thai Embassy DC website, the requirements for the METV include "proof of employment." But what about if retired? Would a document from the U.S. Social Security Administration (like the benefits statement) be ok, do you think?

I'm thinking of switching from my more expensive policy to one from LMG, based on many people here saying they're happy with their cover from LMG.
The problem is that I understand the coverage now required is US$100,000. But on the long-stay insurance site ( https://longstay.tgia.org/companiesoa ) the link to LMG leads to a page where LMG still only has info about the old THB 400K/40K requirement. Any suggestions on where to get an accurate quote from LMG based on the new requirements?

You can do the online report up to the report date now. They eliminated 7 day before requirement about 2 years ago.
Thanks. Learn something new every day. More time to play with it and try to see what I'm doing wrong. ????

Pretty much everything you buy new is way over-packaged. If you're serious about reducing less packaging waste, you buy less, you buy food in bulk, and you buy used stuff when you can. Not always possible of course, but it'll be individual choice. If you wait for industry or government to care about the environment, you'll be waiting a long time.

Very good point. It's interesting that rampant political correctness in the US prevents the media from citing the obscene rates of obesity in the US as a significant factor in the super high number of excess deaths that can be attributed to Covid-19.

Predictions that it would take 3-4 years for the Covid-19 pandemic to settle into an endemic state are turning out to be right.
Once the vaccine-resistant have either gotten vaccinated, or been infected and either died or recovered, we'll reach a state where experts get together twice a year, look at all the variants circulating globally and make recommendations on the composition of the covid-19 vaccine for that year. This is what now happens every year for flu vaccines. Local experts like the good doctor at Chula will then go back to being ordinary scientists and teachers rather than bogus media stars.- 6

The first 90 report for an IO must be done in person. After that you can do online if you have done one in person already in the same IO you apply online for. Also it has to be I believe 15 days i. advance.
Yes, I have done before, both in person and online, with no problems.

Double check you entered everything correctly. Leave the TM6 entry blank and try again.
I have not heard of anybody being able to get a explanation for why a report was rejected.
Unlike the old site, the new one asks only for date of entry into Thailand. I do not see anyplace where it asks for the arrival card number, which surprises me. The TM47 form they include as an attachment in the email acknowledging receipt of the application has the space for arrival card no. blank. When I sent the application, I filled in only the "required" information, the entries with red asterisks.
I resubmitted an application this morning, double-checking what I entered. (The 15 to 7 days before deadline window is still open). I filled out all the entry spaces, not just the ones with red asterisks. We'll see what happens....

No reason given, of course. I never had any problem with the old online site, but since returning from a visit to the U.S. in July 2021, I had a problem with my first attempt online, now again. Is my only option to do it in person? (Mail is a problem). If I call immigration, is there any chance they'll tell me why it was rejected?
