The guy who left Thailand because OZ was so good and his life so much better, but after having understood the <deleted> teacher that he is in any western country, he will just come back telling us how Thailand is good !

No I am saying you are living in the 20th century still. Soon you can carry as much cash as you like but you may not be able to spend it on a hotel. The "idiot hotel owners" that you mention will just get sick of people like you abusing the system and change all their listings to prepayment only and you can walk the streets looking for a hotel that will take cash. Easier for them as it saves going to the bank, carrying change, storing cash. Booking without prepayment is a service that hotels offer you but if people abuse it market forces will just dictate that it be taken away. A bit like taking a toy from a naughty child.

Okay, so I'm too lazy to read six pages! Can somebody please tell me where the best price for quality Reggiana or Grano Padana can be bought in the capital?

The only interesting message here !

Other messages are just posted by pseudo expert who do not even know that a lot of cheese sold and eaten in the world is now not even cheese, it's fake cheese made with vegetal oil, which is of course a lot cheaper to use than milk based products.

  5. So the main difference between samsung note 8 and samsung note FE is the screen size ?

    https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8505&idPhone2=8683

    6.3 inches, 101.1 cm2 (~83.2% screen-to-body ratio)

    5.7 inches, 89.6 cm2 (~79.0% screen-to-body ratio)

Xiaomi mi max 3 seems better for the price, but the baboon at Mi shop didn't have a model to show (they had stock to sell but no model to show !) and didn't want to open it before I pay it, Xiaomi is not better than all the local idiots)

    https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8505&idPhone2=8683&idPhone3=8963

MI MAX 3 has the biggest screen

    6.3 inches, 101.1 cm2 (~83.2% screen-to-body ratio) 5.7 inches, 89.6 cm2 (~79.0% screen-to-body ratio)

    6.9 inches, 122.9 cm2 (~79.8% screen-to-body ratio)

Note FE screen is even smaller than MI A2, so this FE phone is quite useless for me, it has nothing interesting:

    https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?&idPhone1=9140&idPhone2=8963&idPhone3=8683

The only real choice is between

    Xiaomi Mi A2 (Mi 6X)

     5.99 inches 128 GB, 6 GB RAM

    https://www.lazada.co.th/products/xiaomi-mi-a2-ram6gb-rom128gb-i248561090-s382779308.html

    ฿9,900.00

    and

    Xiaomi Mi Max 3

    6.9 inches 64 GB, 4 GB RAM

    https://www.lazada.co.th/products/xiaomi-mi-max-3-69-12-5-dual-camera-i253281931-s390902600.html

    ฿9,290.00

(I cannot find the 128 GB, 6 GB RAM version on lazada)

I cant comment on marriage extensions but my retirement extension gets quicker to obtain every year. And as I own my own condo in Jomtien I am not affected by the away-from-home reporting requirement either. The 90-day report can be done online or by post, but as immigration is just a few minutes' walk from my condo I can easily do it myself. At Jomtien there is rarely any queue at all for this.

The re-entry permit is slightly irritating - it could easily just be an optional part of the extension - but it only took me about 20 minutes to get mine this year. You can do it at BKK airport also.

I dont think that 1MB for a visa stamp is a bargain at all and if I had to pay 1MB for mine I would probably look for somewhere more welcoming to move to.

Sooner or later your extension won't be easy and it seems quite stupid to say that you would be somewhere else if you had to spend 1 MB for a visa: first I do not think that you would find anywhere better, and second, it means that you are here because you are not able to be somewhere else. Sad life.

Anyway if you are not even able to pay for a multi re-entry permit when you do your extension, it means that you really don't have lots of choices !

You should try to be a bit more realistic about yourself and your life...

I went back to Australia recently and very few people carry cash. I know Thailand is a bit behind but it will slowly catch up. Everything will be done by credit card. It is just so much more efficient and secure for banks, businesses and customers.

Apart from that, the hotel owner is only trying to make a living and probably is in the business because they think they can provide you with a nice experience when you come for your holiday. Saying the hotel owners are idiots and sabotaging their business because you aren't organized enough, or considerate enough to cancel your booking before the cancellation period expires, is just bad behaviour.

I never leave home with less than 20000 thb cash in case of expense.

People using electronic payments are just happy to be tracked. Nobody tracks me and know what I spend and how much, because I often also bring lot of cash from abroad.

I an proud to be behind and will not follow the stupid trends and rules that bank choose and apply to obedient people.

Scare no lose or get robbed 20000 thb ? not me, sorry, and at least the thieves would just leave without killing me unlike people who only have a credit card to "offer" hahahahahaha....

Arno's is a scammer, still angry about my lunch there today.

Ordered a double burger of 2x200 grams but got 2x75 gram...i told the waiters about it and they had a long thai answer to my wife since nobody there speaks a word english.

When i finished eating my wife finally got her steak which she didn't like, kurubota ribs.

There were many crying babies in the place as well, very annoying.

I asked if arno was there since his pic is huge on the menu, of course he wasn't there.

Will never go back to that whole EMquartier, it's for silly snobs only.

Is the price similar at all branches ?

I ate at Arno's the other day. First good steak in 4 years (since arriving in thailand). Butcher shop, select your cut and amount, and they cook it for you. Similar to a restaurant in Los Angeles and Las Vegas that I've been to in the past. Aged and marbled to USDA Prime quality is about 2500baht/kg (about the same for aged prime quality in the US). What looked like aged and USDA choice grade was about 1400/kg. I chose a bone in ribeye, prime.

They dont trim well as is the thai style preference. So there was quite a bit of fat that needed to be trimmed at the table. Ruth Chris, Morton's, Delmonico, Nick & Stef, ect similar places in the US would trim the fat and only leave what is necessary for proper grilling or broiling. My steak was grilled properly, medium rare, cool at the center. Salt and Pepper grinder is available at the table. The steak is seasoned lightly with salt and pepper during the grilling, just the way I like it.

Sides are extra, as is in the US steak houses i'm familiar with. The sauteed mushroom is NOT recommended. The Caesar salad wasn't bad. They had a favorite scotch of mine, lagavulin, but it will cost you, and the pour isnt a single dram over a measure. Three doubles and you can buy the entire bottle for the same price. plus it will feel like you only had two doubles.

Its a nice, small intimate place. so reserve early. Overall, i will repeat, but i'll bring my own scotch/red, thank you.

They have many branches now it seems ?

I was on red plates for two months and knew nothing of the rules mentioned here and I from the comments here there appears to be a lot of Falangs who can suddenly read Thai instructions.

Even those who cannot read Thai should have a minimum brain allowing them to know what is said online since year 2000...

Not enough money stolen from foreigners driving around Pattaya ? (drug tests at many locations)

I wonder what will happen if you refuse a quick test and insist on a blood test..?

If they really want your money they will bring you to hospital, but then, having an official document against you, and after you created problems, if you are positive, not sure that they would let you go for 5000 thb...

So if you are positive give them 5000 on the spot and go home...

I’m surprised nobody has started a company here growing farang-style button and portobello mushrooms. The Malaysians have no problem growing them judging by the imports available in the likes of Makro and Foodland, so why not the Thais? They love mushrooms and my GF is very fond of the farang versions. In fact I’ve got orders to visit Makro tomorrow and get a half kilo of button mushrooms for her. With high prices you’d think the profit margin would be decent, so why has nobody started growing them here?

Do you mean the white mushrooms that they call CHAMPIGNON ?

    They are sold everywhere...

They can't charge you unless you have added the CVC code. I work in a guesthouse and we take the card details and charge for first night if a no show. The reason for it is in high season if a lot of people don't show we lose out on turning away walkins, also if we are full on booking.com and people don't show then it's too late for other people to book. I've not turned up in the past but I now I work in hotel I realise what a nuisance it causes and costs the owners. In slow season it's not really a big deal as there are always empty rooms.

On thing though, Booking.com have just changed their policy and if enough hotels complain about someone who has booked they will be barred from booking.com. Can't remember how many complaints are needed but I suspect if you don't turn up to several places and they all complain then you will be kicked off....I also guess you just need a new email address to register again.

Simple turn around about this, if booking asked me if I stayed at the hotel, I just reply YES ! Then I will never be banned ❤️

How is the hotel owner going to fight this ?
