    Who is stickman?

The guy who left Thailand because OZ was so good and his life so much better, but after having understood the <deleted> teacher that he is in any western country, he will just come back telling us how Thailand is good !

I cant comment on marriage extensions but my retirement extension gets quicker to obtain every year. And as I own my own condo in Jomtien I am not affected by the away-from-home reporting requirement either. The 90-day report can be done online or by post, but as immigration is just a few minutes' walk from my condo I can easily do it myself. At Jomtien there is rarely any queue at all for this.

The re-entry permit is slightly irritating - it could easily just be an optional part of the extension - but it only took me about 20 minutes to get mine this year. You can do it at BKK airport also.

I dont think that 1MB for a visa stamp is a bargain at all and if I had to pay 1MB for mine I would probably look for somewhere more welcoming to move to.

Sooner or later your extension won't be easy and it seems quite stupid to say that you would be somewhere else if you had to spend 1 MB for a visa: first I do not think that you would find anywhere better, and second, it means that you are here because you are not able to be somewhere else. Sad life.

Anyway if you are not even able to pay for a multi re-entry permit when you do your extension, it means that you really don't have lots of choices !

You should try to be a bit more realistic about yourself and your life...

I’m surprised nobody has started a company here growing farang-style button and portobello mushrooms. The Malaysians have no problem growing them judging by the imports available in the likes of Makro and Foodland, so why not the Thais? They love mushrooms and my GF is very fond of the farang versions. In fact I’ve got orders to visit Makro tomorrow and get a half kilo of button mushrooms for her. With high prices you’d think the profit margin would be decent, so why has nobody started growing them here?

Do you mean the white mushrooms that they call CHAMPIGNON ?

    They are sold everywhere...

Yes......I have been waiting to hear what the latest development is. I have used that crossing nine times and it only happened on the last run.

Having said that, since the border there opened for the first time there have been several changes in procedure and a gradual increase in the cost.

Compare this to Mae Sot where nothing has changed either in price or procedure for several years.

I actually ended up going to Mae Dot.

The upgraded road is about two thirds complete now and is a big improvement. Hotels in Tak remain as excellent value.

    hello,

At maesot you only pay $10 to cross and come back ?

and it's not far from airport, right ?

    thanks.

I disagree. If I was in the same situation, a quick call to my lawyer would have ended it and I would have paid nothing. They know if you have the right kind of backup it's best to leave you alone. They know they are scamming, so they won't take changes of anything heading to court.

Sorry but your lawyer is free ? Or because he already charged you 100k, he promised not to charge you for the next case ?!

I also know a very good Pattaya lawyer but I am sure that no help would be free...

Credit card protection lasts for 6 months, more people should use it

In Thailand there is not credit card protection and Lazada usually does not accept foreign credit card, knowing how easy it is in some country to cancel any purchase.

I bought a new boxed Xiaomi phone at MBK. After a couple of years took it to Xiaomi at Pantip Plaza. They directed me to a service center co in Pantip. They would not fix it because the phone was a gray import (from serial number), even though I was prepared to pay. Bought a Samsung as replacement.

So, I have learnt my lesson. Only buy from an authorized phone dealer or phone manufacturer outlet.

Thank you to tell us, maybe no more Xiaomi for me, even if I like the idea to change to stop samsung from controlling the market.

Agreed - but where do you find one who is any good and/or costs less than the 50K demanded?

This is the only REAL problem with rats in uniform.

They know what what they ask you (being for illegal work or even drug) is what it will cost you (at least) to fight the legal way, so to avoid hassles, better pay them than a lawyer.

If they would ask more, they could go F their mom.

    Perhaps you misunderstood.

    His Thai wife committed adultery.

She didn't want to divorce but she couldn't do anything about it.

Under Thai law that's grounds for immediate divorce.

Its you who misunderstood. If Thai wife who committed adultery had half a brain she could have delayed the process for a long time and spend her husband money to pay the lawyer. Very easy, but this is one of the advantages of marrying a local idiot, she cannot fight because she knows nothing.

A Norwegian friend was just granted a divorce even though she didn't want one.

She committed adultery and he had proof.

Only took as long as he had to wait for a Court hearing, which was less than 14 days.

Yes you confirm what I said, if the wife had wanted to delay it for any reason it could have taken years.

There is no easy divorce when the other one does not agree.

    No changes at the crossing.

It is the nearest crossing to Bangkok. About 3 to 4 hours from Bangkok according to Google maps.

    Map is here: https://goo.gl/maps/79iXkBLes3P2

The next nearest crossing is to Cambodia at Aranyaprathet to Poipet but you might be turned away or be denied entry there using your non-o visa according to recent reports.

Are you sure that 2 chanthaburi borders are not closer ?

  12. hello, is shoppee a market place like lazada ?

do we buy from shoppee or from different sellers when ordering on shoppee ?

Any positive feedback or it's just a Thai business and we already know what we can expect from them... ?

    thanks.

I am sorry to bring you very bad news. Although you say you found it. You were at an airport where bags are all around. You made no attempt to give the bag to airport officials and you then attempted to leave the country with the items. In the criminal code it is theft. Your lawyer has misinformed you. Even if you paid 40000 baht and she dropped the charge, you have committed an offence under the criminal code 334 for theft. The sentence is up to 3 years and up to 6000 baht fine.

But you also are in section 335  (9)that the offence was in an airport, with sentence of 1 to 5 years. But if your offence is at an airport  (9) and at night  (1) the sentence is 1 to 7 years. So the least you should expect and prepare for is 1 year in prison. If you are very lucky the judge will give you a suspended sentence, however that will most likely depend on your plea. If you go to court with remorse and deep apologies and admission of guilt, then you save the court time and he most likely will give a suspended sentence.

If you go to court lying that you found it and didn't know it was theft  (at an airport ) as you are trying to do on thaivisa. The judge might decide that you need a stronger lesson about your wrongdoing and give you the one year.

Judges know truth from lies and we all aren't as stupid as you think.

Your best defence is to admit your guilt of theft, apologise very very much and show the judge you are truly sorry.

But it seems that people sometimes do not even meet the judge ? (they are just waiting the decision in another room) So how to apologize ?!

There seems to be an understanding here that the minimum wage 300THB must be paid, in reality in the real world it isn't,apart from Homepro 7/11 Makro etc

Wifes daughter  came down to Prachuap applied for hotel job(private Thai hotel room rate 2500 plus per night) daily rate 260/280 per day.

Around here the guys would rather do nothing and drink lao cao or beer all day on money from wife family etc rather than work.

Also I am pretty sure the local farming mob around here do not pay 300THB a day maybe they get around it by coercing family members

This is clearly the real truth, but it is also true that staff do not stay.

    Hello,

first off all I need to thanks the some people here, who have listened me, give me some comfort words and free advices.

i have been on court at 21 August, and the judge give me the sentence I know. NOT GUILTY.

    As I have told,

i have found one bag, don’t still the bag to any one. The judge have comprehension and give me a 30.000 bath fine and release me of all the charges.

im in freedom not on the IDC, because my lawyer garante me, and I have to stay In Thailand for one more month, because the public prosecutor could contest the judge decision.

I don’t know if possible put my lawyer name and contact here, but if someone need could send me a pm.

the lawyer is not cheap, but a honest and decent guy.

im here alone, and the lawyer knows that, so every day invite me to lunch or dinner In is house, with is family, always worry if I need something.

in the prison have 2 guys who help me a lot, and because I don’t have my passport yet I can’t visit then.

the lawyer arrange the things, and put me like is employee/ translator and Monday ill visit and bring food for the people who help inside the prison.

maybe it’s important say, the lawyer, now a friend of mine is the Vice President of the Thailand lawyers Association

Thanks everybody for your help and kindness words

    Thank you for the feedback.

So the judge was not totally retarded as the rest of the people here and even if he decided that you are guilty, he knows that it's stupid to send you to jail for such a small case.

If not guilty you would have nothing to pay.

As I've understood it, EMS is simply the international collective/network of different countries' national postal services. So in Thailand that's Thai Post. In the U.S., that's USPS, although they don't use that name in the states.  But when you send an EMS package from Thailand to the U.S., it gets delivered by USPS.

Not always. USPS has many subcontractors now, depending on the location.

But yes, it goes through USPS as most post offices in the world, because EMS is the express service of public posts.
