Immigration Thai PM Tackles Overstaying Tourists with Visa-Free Scheme Revamp
cynic1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thailand has been flip flopping on visas since I first went there in 2011. The visa issue is like a fish caught on your boat where it flip flops till it dies. -
Crime CIB Cracks Down on Illegal Jet Ski Operations on Phuket Beaches
cynic1 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Phuket News
Totally agree with crackdown. Why did you say "Not?" you turned a positive answer where I agree with you to a negative? Why so? Anyway. Not often I see authorities taking action against such low life individuals who run those unregulated jet skies. Who most often rip off tourists with so called damage to the jet- ski in cohorts with the local RTP. As far as I'm concerned well done. Keep up the good work. -
Yes he was scum. Yes he was a senior officer in the RTP and you know how you become a senior officer. You buy your way there to those above you, He had millions of Baht worth of ill gotten gains such as the cars. My questions in my mind if I were him I would not commit suicide as I know the names of the top RTP officials and can expect a shortened sentence. Otherwise if they screw me I screw them. As getting rid of those Ferraris would leave a clear money trail. So has any so called investigation followed that path. I bet NOT. Unfortunately, they did not trust him either way and quickly made the decision. The so called investigation is a joke. As prior comments mentioned similar to Epstein who could have, I strongly believe convicted the Royal Prince Edward, Duke of York. plus many others.

Thailand's AI Robocop Debuts at Songkran Water Festival
cynic1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
At least check the Ai's bank account just to make sure its a good robocop! -
Seriously, Thailand drivers are as skilled as a 6 year old in Australia mentality. Until they raise the bar. I suggest they remove all zebra crossings without traffic lights. Those crossings with traffic lights they add speed bumps with BIG warning signs stating they are there. The bumps lowers when the lights go green. f cars etc go through on a red light it F''' k's up any vehicle that drives through at 30kms plus. It will save lives. But then again RTP and authorities don't give a sh...t.

Illegal Foreign Tour Guides Bypass Thai Law with Bribes
cynic1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Instead of blaming Foreign guides every time this type of incident occurs. How about focusing on the authorities who should arrest them rather than taking a bribe? As Peter Sellers -Inspector Clouseau once said,"case solved" In short it's not the foreigners. it's your corrupt immigration and police authorities that are causing the problem -
Thailand Boosts Road Safety Measures for Songkran Holiday Travel
cynic1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
"Thailand ended the COVID-19 lockdown on 30 September 2022." The 2021 and 2022 figures are skewed because Thailand was in lockdown during Songkran, yet still had 277 deaths in 2021. The 2023 numbers might not represent the true trend either, as it was still recovering from the lockdowns and afraid to venture out till things settled down with Covid. Thus the more accurate indication of the trend would have been in 2024 which are not showing here. A google search revealed for 2024,"From April 11 to 17 of 2024, 480 people were killed in road accidents in Thailand during the Songkran holidays, which is higher than all the figures in this graph starting at 2014. Not a good trend as it indicates to a statistician its on its way up and significantly. I bet my house for 1 Baht on it the politicians during this period from 2014 of the graph were making the same promises every year as they have made this year. They "Talk the talk" but do not do the " Walk the walk". -

Anutin: Investigation into Bangkok Building Collapse to Take Months
cynic1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What more can I add. Worst still in Thailand this is not unbelievable. In most developed western countries it would be unbelievable! If I were a lawyer in a civilised country where law is obeyed, I would rest my case against the defendants with this evidence and let the 12 members of the jury decide the verdict. Nothing more to add to convince them. -

Bangkok Building Collapse Sets Unwanted World Records
cynic1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
I bet my Australian houses to a $1 bet. in the next year from now, that regular maintenances and regular testing are not actioned! Its like their large trucks. Thailand is not pro activity. It's post activity. They only do it after a tsunami or major truck accident. Which unfortunately is when many lives are lost or in the case of a tsunami thousands. -
Thailand Urged to Form ‘War Room’ in Response to US Tariffs
cynic1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Maybe Thailand should lower it's exchange rate as a start to increasing Exports. It's no surprise their currency ALWAYS follows the trend of the US currency. They manipulate their currency so it does. Bad idea 9in the long term! -
Thai PM fumes over delayed quake warnings; demands action

I was halfway through reading this and I almost fell asleep. My wife shook me to ensure I was not. I thought it was an earthquake. -
Thai PM fumes over delayed quake warnings; demands action
cynic1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I agreed with your comment initially but with an afterthought, one would assume the App works to let others know it has occurred as a minimum because after the initial quake had occurred there is usually a follow up not long after of minor quakes in most instances, or worse sometimes a stronger quake. -

Earthquake Rocks Bangkok: Building Collapses with 40 people inside
cynic1 replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand News
I feel very sad about this and feel for those that experienced it. The people affected must be in shock. Imagine those in high rise buildings. That experience would be a nightmare. For those that died RIP and for those that were injured I hope you have a quick and full recovery. For the rescuers you are brave. I have never experienced an earthquake and never want to. I have seen the effects of one in Christchurch NZ, magnitude 6.3, just before and 6 months after. It happened in 2011 Christchurch was built on swamp land similar to Bangkok. There were 185 deaths and thousands injured, which is a large number as the population was no where near Bangkok's population. In fact they were thinking of moving the city. Earthquakes are very rare in NZ. The last major one was 1855. -
