  1. yes it's a shared line, actually the speed you are getting isn't too bad compared to what some get!

ah well this is thailand, i will stick with it i just wanted to litern to the radia station back home but it keeps breaking up because of the connection speed. i love to sit on my balcony and listern to the morning traffic and weather reports and thank god thats not me anymore, plus cannot download music from limewire. still worse things in life the SKYPE is better with broadband and they have offer on now top up by £10 and 6 months free calls to any UK landline :o

  2. I have just signed up for tt&t asdl package of download speed 1024 upload 512. what i get igat is about 300/110 i have compalined had enginneers on the phone for ages trying everything but the final answer was well you have the speed you purchased but it is shared with 20 people so its about who else is online at the same time with the same line as me. so i cannot download or upload at anywhere near the speeds the package was sold to me at. has anybody else had same problem and was there anysolution. for me it is not to much better than the dial up service.

  3. Crispin is as straight a man as you'll ever meet. He and his wife Yu do a 2-month cycle with his publication, Samui-Phangan Real Estate Magazine (widely considered to be one of the leading paper real estate publications on Samui), whereby he sells ads, gets the content to the printers, etc, and he also started up Captain Caveman dive shop. Also, remember that this guy has NOTHING to do with land deals - he runs a media publication. In short, in my basic opinion, the guy has no time to be a criminal and already has established legal businesses, which he takes very seriously. He does drive a nice chopper-style motorbike though. Whilst the guy is very well-built and everything, he is a really nice guy, well-spoken and well-mannered. It's very hard for me to imagine him being violent.

Spike, aka Peter Watkin-Jones, is not Australian, though he was alledgedly in the Aussie navy... past that, there's no connection - he's English. He is involved in the Bungy Jump and the Billabong Surf Club.

Spike aka banana aka Peter Joneswas in Aus navy and has lived in Au since the age of 2. go in the bar and lookat the pictures

  4. I wish them luck with their endevours, something is needed to reduce the land prices in these island destinations.

If this is the 'coco land company' I often wondered how they became so big so quick.

I'm not sure that this connection has been made! Perhaps it would be better to wait for some facts before posting such a comment. The company concerned might not take kindly to it.

So does anyone out there know who Peter Watkins Jones is? Is he connected to Coco?

there is a Peter Jones who as reported has a share in the bungy and the Billabong bar in Bohput. the bar is his only connection to coco to my knowledge and it is a partnership that started before the bandito stuff. if it is this Peter Jones he was born in the UK and immigrated as an infant to Australia so maybe it should just be 1 brit and one 1 auzzie. i know all involved and doubt coco are in on this.

  5. Hey guys im from USA and im planning to move out to koh samui in a few months but i was wondering if anyone owned a bar personally or new how to go about starting one with laws and whatnot. Or could just generally give me some info about it. thanks

go into any bar they are all for sale start a thai company get work visa pay for the bar then see how long it takes for all those dollars to disapear unless of course ou do some thing completly differnt like get a few girls show live football (soccer to you) serve western food.

  6. Martello and Sabai are the same company. Martello are buliding shopping compex on right hand side of the road coming away from tesco going towards bohput at the botom of the hill. Lawrence Faye is the MD and i would think a decent chap to deal with, i have known him for over 6 years and always found him straight forward but very busy so maybe that is the reason for lack of communication.

Shame about the land being sold nesting eagles were evicted to make way for it, still TIT money rules

  7. My experiance is that the staff at TT&T are next to useless. i have just moved into a house with a phone line i have tried to upgrade to asdl but the only responce i get is owner before have to come with you. they do not seem to comprhend that the previous tenants have left Samui. so i can use the line to run up a bill as much as i like but i cannot add asdl to it. doing my flipping head in.

    Gahhhh.

Another internet thread by me, so sorry :o

So I just moved here from Bangkok yesterday. I found a wonderful brand new 1 bedroom house in mainam and really liked it. After speaking with the owner she told me that I could get internet in about 2 weeks, possible 3 weeks due to the holidays approching us.

My girlfriend confirmed that the neighboor had DSL so I knew that it was available in this area.

So I go have a visit to the dsl shop outside of Tesco and they tell me 3 weeks to get the phone line, THEN maybe TWO MONTHS for internet because "THe board is full in mae nam"

This is going to be a problem for me. I work on the net so I really cant wait that long. Can anyone confirm that it takes this long?

Also, what about those prepaid cards you can buy once you have a phone line, are those dsl speeds? Seems like it will just be dial up speeds to me but im not sure.
