  1. I actually found myself asked quite recently to help with training. Two groups of girls who just arrived from the villages and two seasoned professionals who used me as the demonstration object. Fun. And weird.
  2. Could it be that they've been instructed to keep a check on activities which might cause a rise in the COVID infection rate?
  3. The conveyor belt places are a nice experience for kids, but the food is extremely boring. All buffet places generally serve terrible food, apart from some breakfast buffets. I eat so little at these places I'm their ideal customer. But I only go if someone I'm with insists on it. The defamation laws here are interesting. Wouldn't the restaurant need to show intent to harm the business? If the guest argued that the review was made in order to inform potential customers, not to punish or shame the restaurant, wouldn't that make a difference? And being threatened with a defamation lawsuit does sound a little bit like defamation in itself. It's an endless loop.
  4. Well.... No. If the amount is "not that big a deal" then how does it show you "hold your partner in esteem"?
  5. Vespas are expensive, but may be worth checking out since they're built for the slightly larger Europeans (Italians aren't all that tiny anymore).
  6. Royal Bangkok Sports Club? I guess I meet people who grew up driving motorbikes, not being driven around in Bentleys.
  7. The kind of people who choose this breed of dog are exactly the type of people who should never ever be allowed to own dogs.
  8. Libya basically didn't have a functioning government at that time and I would happily ignore any numbers reported by Libyan government bodies then. Which leaves lovely Thailand, which obviously under-reports their numbers (the definition of death at site of accident rather than as a consequence of the accident), as number 1. But does it matter if they're number one? I meet very few people in Thailand who DON'T have a scar from a motorbike accident. And I meet a lot of people where there's been at least one traffic death in the family. That's insane.
  9. Yes. I didn't see any braking or steering/evasive action by the MB. In Thailand you're supposed to instinctively take evasive action to the left ( to avoid oncoming traffic) which would not have helped the Honda driver if she had continued her turn. Stopping to see what the lunatic travelling at high speed will do makes sense. We know what happened because we have the footage. Hindsight is 20 etc. The Honda driver didn't know if stupid MB driver would swerve, which he should have. So I'm arguing from the point in time when she stopped, not from now, when we know what ultimately happened.
  10. According to this page https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_traffic-related_death_rate Thailand ranks higher than 37. Still not a world record according to current data, but just a few years ago they shared the distinction of being world leaders in road deaths with Libya.
  11. It's a diverse world and the reasons why people sell sex are many and varied. It's easy to assume it's all based on hardship and lack of options. But even in the affluent and well-off western democracies I see young middle class women choosing to work for a few months selling sex in places like Dubai. Because the money you can earn is insane. There's nothing else they can do that comes even close.
  12. I had to look up the meaning of "leer" to understand what you're on about. Apparently it's about showing openly that you're sexually attracted to someone. Much like a predator looking at its prey. And that's usually wrong in a shopping mall. But I think you're carrying your observations too far. Most people make an effort to look nice, presentable or even attractive when they go to a public place like a shopping mall. There is a way to look at a woman and acknowledge that she looks attractive without adding the predatory element. You can smile, widen your eyes a little bit. It doesn't HAVE TO be creepy. And in my experience I often get a smile in return. But that's obviously because I'm one of the people for whom these women make themselves pretty????
  13. Won't those same Grab drivers deliver stuff to you right after?
  14. If the government redirected all tourists to Udon Thani we would have a serious issue on our hands, given the numbers you presented. But since most tourists will be going to the three provinces with the highest rate of vaccinations, the risk is not as high as it first appears. The numbers for Krabi are however a cause for more immediate concern.
  15. Christian people tend to see themselves as morally superior to other people. Newly converted christians seem to be even more convinced of their moral superiority. So I thought it would be relevant to make a not so veiled reference to the catholic clergy. And their propensity for sexually abusing children.
  16. I'm interested to see the reaction when they look at the numbers. How many people came when nightly fun was closed versus when it was open. Will they draw any conclusions...? Hmm... Of course people come here for the temples.
  17. Yes. Or was it a rhetorical question? Daddy wants to get some when mommy goes shopping.
  18. That is a very dangerous position to take - and an insanely stupid one.
  19. I like the building, I like the design and I don't mind it being even taller. It may block part of the view from the hilltop, but it provides depth of field. And it needs to be tall to escape the stench from the sewer plant or whatever that thing is in front of Bali Hai Bay Hotel. But I am also worried about the structural integrity of it at this point. Get some Germans to inspect it????
  20. Why? Just why? Why even go there? A child has been attacked and you rush to the defense of the dogs? As if dogs running around unchecked would somehow be equivalent to human beings. They're not. They're like rats, just mammals being a nuisance and a danger. Dogs are not worth the same as that little child, not even a superspecial Lassie wonder dog and definitely not one of these soi dogs. The only humans that come near to the level of dogs are these weird people who seem to equate dogs with people. Oh and those who just let their dogs run free. Or abandon them in the street.
  21. Maybe it's a case of "communism is bad, hence everything bad must be communism". - Waiter, take away this communist shrimp, it tastes bad. - This music is too loud, it must be commie music. - Trump is an idiot, he's such a communist.
