It's very sad that we see not only such regular violence from teachers here, but such apathy from the police who should treat such crimes far more aggressively and swiftly than they do. The pathetic penalties often dished out don't help matters either. When you strike a student or child, and it is a 5 year mandatory prison sentence, we may see the levels come down.

Don't count on it. From Massachusetts, where I'm from its a mandatory one year jail sentence for carry a unregistered handgun, this law was passed in the 80's. Not a single time has this law ever been enforced. Sounds good, but that's all it is.

    Hi there

had to go to hospital for some minor treatment that involved one or two nights stay

booked a private room in the state hospital, price 1,600 but a night

turned up yesterday morning, got paperwork sorted and got a room organised

while waiting for transport to room, lady tells me the price is now 2,000 baht because “ I’m a farang”

not happy and told her so, but not going to argue over it

gets settled into room, has first drip done, blood test and x ray , then wait for doctor to visit

when he comes , many hours later, he asks if I. Ok paying for room, and can I afford it, so I asked which price am I paying, 1,600, or 2, 000

to which he replied no, farang price is 3,200 now, and I want you to stay 5 nights now

i pointed out the room is old and dated, in an old section of the hospital, there is no soap or towels to wash my hands after toilet, no water to drink, you insist i have friend/ relative to help, and then want them to sleep on a 4 foot wooden settee , and you now want to double the price because I’m a farang ?

The treatment needed is only a hook up to a antibiotic drip for 10 minutes, twice a day, but he refused to allow me treatment without staying in the room

even the nurse admitted it was bad, but the big boss had told them to double the price for farangs

Anyone else have this happens to them

can’t fault the nurses, but the system stinks to high heaven

The exact reason I always go to Bangkok Hospital, Chiang Mai. More expensive, but I know I'm getting what I'm paying for.

Buyers increasingly want to know that what they are buying comes from countries with good employment and environmental credentials - this "development" may well come back to bite Cambodia very hard.

...and where exactly is the evidence supporting that. The EU just signed a massive trade deal with China with no indifference of whether said goods are produced by slave labor or China's Concentration camp factory installations. The EU is the same as most Western Economies, all talk, but want the cheapest price no matter what the end factor is.

Trump came in as a change agent. Perhaps Biden should do the same, and have Trump arrested for sedition as soon as he takes over on January 20. There's probably much more evidence of that than there is of electoral fraud.

Trump will continue to act as a spoiler until he is put away.

10 people in a room equals 1000 votes, the new norm. At least he hasn't removed all the "W's" from the White house keyboards and sold the furniture.

  5. ....the legal standing wasn't the issue. Of course the brunt of the suit was whether state legislative or executive have the final say in state law. Now, the new rules stand. Regardless of state law, the executive can change any law they do not chose to abide by. Future elections will not be determined by a vote, but by the whims of whichever party is in power. The USA has just joined the ranks of the 3rd World.

Africa has been identified as a key region for Islamist consolidation, including IS. It makes no sense for US forces to withdraw from the region. trump's announcement will be another political gambit for self interest, not in the interest of regional / global security. One example of a number of articles covering this issue...

The UK Guardian is correct, but will the British or any EU country send troops to that <deleted> hole. Don't hold your breath.

In very bad situations like this, all should be mindful to keep their comments within the scope of the forum's rules, including:

If that's the case, why did TF even post this story. Without it being said, everyone knows which group of people were involved in this. It happened in a church, so there will it will be condemned in the " strongest " terms, if this had happened in a mosque, all we would be hearing is jihad.
