I wonder if foreigners know what most Thais think of them.
Yep, it's about the only useful thing about being fluent in Thai. Sit quietly and listen to hatred pouring out of them
They often say a Thai changes when they get into a vehicle/moto.
That is WRONG, they change when they get out. The true Thai is the one behind the wheel .

It's an integral part of their culture/traditions, it definitely isn't part of mine. The thai translation is hak naa, to break the face.
It can turn a normal person into a rabid creature in seconds

Shame the general public show such acquiescence.

If I asked a taxi driver to slow down in my country they would tend to listen. If they didn't I would be able to contact the company or the police and action would be taken. Fat chance over here, just a torrent of abuse

For a country of people who don't like to lose face, it's almost a national past time.
I wonder if they really know what foreigners think of them??

Much of which are caused by idiots driving too fast.
Not sure your average Thai would even know that tbf

As you can see in my catchphrase below one thing that stands out in Thailand that I have never seen any where else in the world is pulling out on to a road especially a larger road without looking. Why do Thais do this? There should be automatic jail of 5 years for anyone that causes an accident for not looking! There clearly needs to be a deterrent.
Not sure you could fit another 10/20 million people in the already bursting jails

What planet is Prayut on?
What drugs is he on?
He drinks the elixir made from his sycophants' bile. One has to remember he is shrouded by yes men/women. Everything he says is acknowledged with a yes or a wai, together with a fake smile synonymous with Thai people. Every 'joke' he makes has them in raptures. Watch any clip and you can see a selection of his lap dogs in the background, pathetic weasels the lot of them.
Over time a person can believe their own hype, and reach a level of self importance that is hard to comprehend.

I'm a single Dad, and I just don't take my daughter in for these sort of days.
In fact when she was in her previous school, they told me I couldn't take her in on Mother's Day!
That was a horrendous private school though, full of Army & Police kids.
The hatred for luk kreungs was palpable as the kids had been brainwashed by their families

bit cryptic "we will back to school" , meaning what, we will be inspecting the schools? or
at least they aren't separating children and mothers, then deporting the mothers like Fox News
Yes they are & it's worse here. If you get caught with an O/S you go straight to IDC, unable to see your kids again in Thailand for 10 years. No belongings no goodbyes nothing!

A new passport would still link to your old passport and your history.
The computer will still link to an older passport via your name, DOB and nationality.
Yeh but it gives them nothing to gawp at but empty pages. They love to pour over every stamp in a full passport, preying they can find a discrepancy and in turn grill you.

Who gets the missing 1%?
Maths isn't a strong point over here. Just look at the ingredients in the food packaging, it never adds up to 100%!

Simple solution is to sell the tickets out of 711 where they can put the tickets into a vending machine, then you have the option of choosing the numbers you want or taking a random computerized set of numbers for 80 baht every time, unless they figure out a way to corrupt the machine.. Just a thought, but hey why follow the rest of the world TIT!
When I first came here I remember seeing amputees/disabled people selling them. It was a chance for them to make some cash as there is no proper welfare system.
Nowadays it's younger able bodied people trying to make some fast cash and the disabled folks don't get a sniff. Sad really.

He should be jailed for 19 years now, since he doesn’t think it’s that big a deal.
Do you really believe that or are you trolling? Beggars belief that people of your ilk exist.

These conditions have been going on for a long long time. Not really got a lot to do with the present government.
Worse places exist and better places exist.
That's the way it is. No complaining on here and no amount of spouting off on here will make any difference.
This isn't a 'go home if you don't like it rant' it's just a post saying wherever or whatever country you decide to move to accept the fact that things are not going to be the same as your own country.
No they haven't. When I first started coming here about 20 years ago, it was easy to get a non immigrant multiple o visa. You just applied to Hull and it was done. No questions were asked on arrival and you got 15 months hassle free (90 day visa runs). Tourist visa were also a doddle and there were various places you could go & you never feared of problems with re-entry.
I often went to Savan Vegas. Fly from BKK then to Mukdhan, picked up there & off to the casino for 3 days. They did all the work, no questions asked and it was painless. All this has stopped now and it's hassle after hassle.
If you were caught overstaying you were deported via IDC but it was just 20k and you could come back with NO ban whatsoever.
I understand that in the early 00's there was a lot of dross here. That was mainly due to the fact the baht was weak and people were able to live here extremely cheaply. Just the steep rise of the baht has got rid of over 50% of those from Europe and especially the UK.
Just look at the forums re Visas, immigration on T Visa. It has hardened appreciably in the last 4/5 years in line with who is currently in charge. Just because I haven't many posts (under this avatar), don't think I haven't been here a long long time.

You would think they would want you out asap. Therefore if you had your phone, you could make the necessary arrangements. Pure vindictiveness!

I am with this sentiment 100%. In fact I'd go further:
Jail time per length of overstay:
- 1 month for each year
- 1 week for each month
- 1 day for each week
Therefore Eugen would be looking at 20 months in the crowbar hotel courtesy of the Thai government.
That crap has got to stop because it has already affected me and many others like me. My "jump through all the proper hoops and legalities obtained" business visa in Laos used to allow me unlimited access into the LOS. My wife and I used to go at least monthly, do some shopping and visit her family.
Thai immigration changed the laws a couple of years ago limiting me to 2 land crossings a year unless I buy a 6 month multi-entry visa from the Thai Embassy in Vientiane for 5000 baht. I have bought said visa but the only reason I had to do so was because of scofflaws like Eugen et al. Their illegal, greedy, selfish, careless and thoughtless actions cost me money.
No sympathy here in the slightest. Barring the extraordinary, there is no plausible reason whatsoever to have an overstay. Throw them away and then deport them for life.
When you have a xenophobic, fascist govt, these things tend to happen. It's nothing to do with anything else.
