  1. Good thread

, this is a major reason for me relocating here.

I also am retired and on dividends/savings for income

I have tried a  couple of lawyers to obtain a TIN and both looked very bemused whilst explaining there is no point in bothering.

My reason for not trying the revenue office directly is I travel within LOS for most of the winter and spend 4/5 Months back in Europe , so although I am over 183 day most years , I don;t have a permanent address.

Would be interested if anyone else in this position ,that could offer any insights

  2. topt , hi, had a look at Hargreaves and they only take  customers based in UK

Tried A J Bell and they were a bit of a pain , asking for various documents /forms which I duly sent , then at the last moment they said everything had to be notarised , I felt they were a bit amateurish so did not pursue it

as for the expatsipp the charges are about .9% as far as I can see , do you think that  is excessive ?

again as far as I can tell the funds  will be held by the two fund house , which then offer a range of risk profiles , this limitatation puts me off a bit ,

but the ease of everything else seems attractive.

    any advice welcome

  3. I used to use them , but left about 18 Months ago , as they were a bit over eager implementing the CRS requirements for me.

There platform is pretty good and covers most markets , generally I would recommend them as long as they take Thai based customers .

Depending on the size of your portfolio there are  banks in Singapore that hold foreign equities .

  4. Bit of an update ,

went into the branch at emquarter , 3 visits over two hours each time , much tooing and frowing with various members having a play on the phone .

Eventually got a staff member who realised how awkward the position was (no otp banking etc)

they got on to the "back office people" who after another hour sat waiting got the service back on

The best explanation I could get was that there is a changeover from 2g AND a change of company to some separate branch of DTAC I think

so 3 days , no service  , several visits ,  but if I had been away from Thailand it would have been pretty drastic

Phone is a samsung , just a year old ,

  5. Adam , there is a whole raft of agents for visa, I don't thin TV allow links or advertising on threads , I did quite abit orf research last year and the price is between 25 to 35 k ,

All depends how you are fixed for funds I suspect , both having the 800k on deposit for the length of time , and are you prepared to pay the extra to an agent

  6. Would appreciate any help from the tech savvys on here.

Been a DTAC customer for ten years plus ,   got a message a few weeks ago to get my SIM card replaced , went in , and got it done , now , tonight the service seems to have been cut off ,

Is it a general outage , or , did the replacement not work , or did the operative at DTAC just not do the job correctly

  7. It seems it makes things a lot simpler when completing the forms if you can provide a Thai TIN ,

but appears a bit more difficult obtaining one in some areas of the country.

My problem is I spend a lot of time in Serviced apartments , so have no permanent residence as such , would expect if \I applied to the tax office they would make that an issue

Any one got any alternative suggestions
