I was living near that sump when it was put in. for several weeks a digger continued to sink it deeper and deeper into the ground. the shared storm water and septic overflow discharges the same amount of black water regardless of the rainfall. it is just the amount of rainfall that makes the problem more or less visible. problem is not going away. I just came back from bali and was very impressed with how they deal with their sewage there. every beach I went too seemed clean and no hint of black water smell.

I have done it around Jomtien and pratumnak. 9 rentals total. complete waste of time. I consider myself to get my money back when I sold which took many years. the tiny rents and constant problems made it a nightmare. very hard to not be empty over low season. I was lucky I never had a problem with the law. I hope you will listen to my advice.

will anyone learn a lesson from this guys experience and just rent? (note I am one of the idiots who bought but in my defense I did manage to actually sell again, not just give it to a thai woman)

Trump is going to win 2020. not because he is a great president but because the democrats are a bunch of loons.

Democratic socialism. you vote your way in but you have to shoot your way out.

after 10 years living in Thailand I decided it is a better country for holidays. each to their own of course. owning a business is very very difficult and I did it for 9 years. enough about that already.

I ran a kiteboarding school on jomtien beach for 9 years and it just got to the point where I would not go into the water. naturally I had to move on fairly quickly.

I personaly know a guy in prak nam pran who got an 'on the spot' fine for putting the sign out at his thai wives eatery. he refused it and went through the courts and paid the 6000thb fine for not having a work permit. there are also several cases of guys in their own bars being fined for talking to customers.

was a great movie. even if it did have the overtones of the bad colonizers it still had a good story and great animation. just hope Hollywood does not ruin it like they did with star wars and oceans 11.

20 hours ago, Ready 2 Retire said:thanks for the replies guys ???? it's true i'm kinda rushing it a bit. i've been coming to thailand for 5 years, moving here has been a dream for a while though. i'm kinda sick of the rat race in melbourne, ready to retire!!
(i sold one house from the overpriced australian market and with that money i'd buy here. i also have another positevly geared house to lease out to pay for bills).
the 3k pm is for gym, pool, security guard and bins i believe. 300 a year sounds a whole lot better!! ???? we're off to see some other houses this arvo. thx again all.
please just rent for a year first, or maybe 5 years. I got sick of Thailand after 6 years but was stuck for several years selling my 2 houses. that's how long it took just to find another sucker to buy my houses to get my money back.

Six more years of ANYONE is gonna be bad for America, it has already reached its' peak, all downhill now. I do like that grey pin stripe suit, can't find that material in Pattaya.
amazing how distracted americans are by the political theater. the country is a hell of a mess. it does not matter if it is dems or republicans in power. nothing is changing.

get an agent to sort it out. if you are in pattaya I can recommend a great girl who ran everything for me for 8 years. best to get it sorted. I had the wrong address in my work permit and it cost me 80k in 'fees' I even went through the courts and paid the official 8500thb official fine. I gave up doing it myself after that.

what happens to the 5000 elephants in captivity once people no longer ride them? who will pay to feed them?

I was complimented for being so clean. My GF actually bragged to her relatives about how many showers I took. How incredibly bizarre.
many thais seem to have a belief that westerners stink. before moving to pattaya to sell her wares my girl said that it was the main thing that was putting her off getting into the game.

she would say what ever she thinks will get votes. trump will say what ever triggers liberals. he is putting on a hell of a show. not going to be a very interesting election if the dems cant find a decent person to run. they need a decent middle of the road candidate but they all seem to be all, ban everything, tax everything and open the boarder while your at it.

wonder why the mossies don't set up shira law patrols to stop their men miss behaving like they have in cities around Europe.

nancy and chuck will never give in let alone actually negotiate, no matter what trump offers them. no matter how good a negotiator someone is it still takes both sides to actually negotiate. trump might as well use army engineers and funds to get the job done. pull them out of Syria and put them to work doing something productive.

Republican propagandists are having a field day equating the word “socialism” with government tyranny, food shortages, Venezuelan chaos, etc. As such, it’s become just another meaningless buzzword, like “political correctness” and “fake news.” If by “socialism” you mean acknowledging the fundamental injustice of any system that enables and encourages the grotesque (and growing) wealth disparity one finds in the US and elsewhere, and believing that the profit motive should be removed from essential services like public utilities, health care, and education, then I’m a proud socialist.
those on the left have corrupted the word socialism. socialism is the shared means of production. it has been tried about 40 times over the last 100 years. almost always as it fails the government takes control and the society becomes communist. this results tyranny and food shortages. Venezuela is a good example of what was socialism that has become communist. the profit motive is what drives success, big govt is inefficient and tends to screw everything up. there is a reason why the greatest countries in the world are based on the capitalist system, because it works. that's why everyone is trying to leave socialist countries to get into capitalist countries.

some friends just got back from there. it is not just paris. its all over the country. France is a mess, over run with illegals that drain the coffers resulting in the workers being taxed to the breaking point.

it is now almost impossible for a conservative to get a nobel peace prize. Obama on the other hand was awarded it after 7 months in office and then went on to start bombing operations over 5 more countries around the world. I would have to say it really looks like trump should get the prize. I still cant believe he has diffused the Korea situation.

Broken Jomtien swimming buoys to be replaced
in Pattaya News
Posted
if they were cleaned ever 6 months they would last for many years. no budget for that? better to pay 5 times as much replacing them? thai style.
