Im not always in violation of state open carry laws but when I am I always make sure I stop by a demonstration full of disaffected people, just for a look.
This kid went looking for trouble, he found it. Good luck with being tried as an adult.

I dont know about Qatar cuts flights to Oz, I have a confirmed ticket on Qatar in a week and 2 associates just flew out of Paris, on Air France, to Perth.
Australia's rules around entering and leaving are tough no doubt. Perhaps if we didn't have a bunch of <deleted> security guards screwing people in quarantine we might have been past this by now.
Wear a mask and observe social distancing. If you need to convince yourself that quarantine and travel restrictions are important imaging someone you care about catching this virus and dying

is this a story from the Onion?

Does anyone really think that all the staff in these resorts are going to be able to maintain quarantine and PPE protocols for weeks if not months on end? As soon as we see a few of these cases in leak out into the community the brakes will be on, the flights will stop and the country will be in a panic to lock down. Frightened tourists clambering for flights and heading home to face certain quarantine again.
This need to achieve zero domestic transmission will be the demise of the return of tourism in Thailand. There is just no way around it, either experience more domestic transmission or forget tourism until there is a vaccine and widespread inoculation.
At least make it easier for those who have a real connection to Thailand to return. Make visas available, do the 2 weeks quarantine and move on. If zero domestic transmission is the goal why do you want me to have USD$100K worth of special when I already pay thousands of Baht a year already.
Get a policy and move on.

He said he would be surveying the locals about their feelings of having foreigners in their midst once again
This could be it for me; I know some Thai are tired of us and take us for granted and some genuinely like us. Europe is a lot closer to me for work now so maybe I'll move to Croatia or somewhere similar. TBH I was getting kinda tired of being formally and informally taxed all the time

What would you have the moto guys do whilst waiting for a fare?
some interpretive dance explaining the Thai Baht's ability to stay high while the country is bleeding out? I'd watch that

Chinese tourists on the BTS are the worst, over packed roller bags at 4pm on a Friday when the BTS is packed. The spitting and yelling to each other really marks them as ...whats a nice phrase for it??? Ahhh simple country folk. But I don't do much touristy stuff and I don't shop where they shop so they are more of a curiosity.
But I did notice the BTS was getting busier each month, but I guess that has quietened down. I see Bangkok as any big city, I like the frenetic pace but it does wear you down and that's when i take a break.
What wears me down most is the continuous con job that Thailand wants to play on me. The hand is always out or trying to get into my pocket.

1 Oct: Arrive
15 Oct: Tourist develops covid symptoms
16 Oct" Typical panic decision making process and the Island is locked down, tourists "invited" to enjoy another 14 days in quarantine.
That's a hard pass from me

So what, when I went to Washington DC a few years ago I inquired about the White House tour, I was informed that it was for US citizens only. Who cares

I have a current Australian car and motorcycle DL and a Non-Immigrant O-A Visa.
My question is:
What is the process to convert a Au DL to a TH DL for both car and bike? Ive read variations on the process that include or don't include a driving test, 6 week wait for a physical license etc.
So far it looks like I need...
Medical cert
Copies of my lease
TM30
TM6
Relevant passport page copies
Copy of Au DL
Signed Th DL application
Copies for each license.
...Do I have to sign the copies? Do I need my embassy to sign as well?
Then show up, do the video, eye test and a driving test.
Also any tips on where to go do this, time of the day, day of the week etc would be welcome.
Thanks

This act of terrorism is indeed an act of hate.
The current climate climate of intolerance in western society has been fulled by the those who feel disenfranchised and are looking for an enemy.
The real enemy talks in folksy tones about a gentler, more prosperous time when you were respected and jobs were plentiful, he looks like you, talks like you, wears a suit and he tells you he has the answers, then he points at those who don't look like you and he tells you that that group is the source of your pain all the while he dishes out tax cuts to his rich benefactors and cuts your health care.
This is hate, hate fulled by fear of the Other, generated for the benefit of the rich. Its a shell game...you are looking in the wrong place.
This is fascism at work and it wont end well for anyone.

Its not typical Tom although just like many other western countries Au suffers from the plague of alcohol fulled male violence.
I believe its unwise to form an opinion of a whole country based on the actions of one person. An example of this might be would be saying that all Americans are poorly informed about anything outside their boarders I wouldn't say that as I try not to make sweeping generalisations about whole countries based on the actions of a few.

2000mAh sounds heavy to carry around and likely a problem in airports. Suvarnabhumi has a limit on 16000mAh bricks in carry on from memory.
Have a read of this...you may not need all that power.

I fly a lot and Im tired of these arsehats treating the overhead bins like its the tardis, bringing over stuffed bags plus a "personal item" which is often a big shopping bag.
It doesn't matter if your American, Indian, African or Chinese. They all do and its not acceptable or within the term and conditions of the ticket.
The limit is the limit.

I work in an industry where we wear face masks and respirators. We would use the 8210 for a few hours then get another one due to perspiration and wear and tear. I've never seen anyone get a day out of one...so well done to you.

I keep looking at the MotoGP site for the GP in October but the tickets haven't been released yet. Anyone have an idea when they release them?

A comment on a web site is repeated on another web site....not much of a story to be honest. I feel for Don but does anyone think the Th Gov would want to keep a 90 yr old expat who can afford to be here?

The only place Ive found is Truefitt & Hill at the Emporium, but the selection is slim. You'd be better off going on line and having it delivered. I usually get my gear from the US or Au

Ive read the original marathon thread...phew, that was a struggle at times.
I can do the 800K so its not a problem for me. What is more of a concern is the shifting sands of immigration policy and the fact that policy appears to be made up on the run.
Thanks to everyone who keeps us mushrooms informed.

I wouldn't imagine that technical / high performance kicks would be repairable given the construction methods and materials. Personally, I would bite the bullet and go with something new. Ive never found it difficult to get exactly what I want in BKK, whether its technical or lifestyle. Let us know if you find someone though GL.
My usual places are Central World in Chit Lom at the Supersport. They carry a good line of the usual names....or Siam Discovery have Nike, Adidas, Vans, Converse and Onitsuka Tiger stores. Or MBK if your looking for Reebok, New Balance etc

Im happy to come back as a tourist and not renew my retirement visa, I'll put the money in their bank and sit in their overpriced hotel for 2 weeks... then rundown the bank account, if i cant get the money out, clean out my condo and sell the contents. Im moving on, its all a little too hard now.
