Im not always in violation of state open carry laws but when I am I always make sure I stop by a demonstration full of disaffected people, just for a look.
This kid went looking for trouble, he found it. Good luck with being tried as an adult.

I dont know about Qatar cuts flights to Oz, I have a confirmed ticket on Qatar in a week and 2 associates just flew out of Paris, on Air France, to Perth.
Australia's rules around entering and leaving are tough no doubt. Perhaps if we didn't have a bunch of <deleted> security guards screwing people in quarantine we might have been past this by now.
Wear a mask and observe social distancing. If you need to convince yourself that quarantine and travel restrictions are important imaging someone you care about catching this virus and dying

is this a story from the Onion?

Does anyone really think that all the staff in these resorts are going to be able to maintain quarantine and PPE protocols for weeks if not months on end? As soon as we see a few of these cases in leak out into the community the brakes will be on, the flights will stop and the country will be in a panic to lock down. Frightened tourists clambering for flights and heading home to face certain quarantine again.
This need to achieve zero domestic transmission will be the demise of the return of tourism in Thailand. There is just no way around it, either experience more domestic transmission or forget tourism until there is a vaccine and widespread inoculation.
At least make it easier for those who have a real connection to Thailand to return. Make visas available, do the 2 weeks quarantine and move on. If zero domestic transmission is the goal why do you want me to have USD$100K worth of special when I already pay thousands of Baht a year already.
Get a policy and move on.

He said he would be surveying the locals about their feelings of having foreigners in their midst once again
This could be it for me; I know some Thai are tired of us and take us for granted and some genuinely like us. Europe is a lot closer to me for work now so maybe I'll move to Croatia or somewhere similar. TBH I was getting kinda tired of being formally and informally taxed all the time

What would you have the moto guys do whilst waiting for a fare?
some interpretive dance explaining the Thai Baht's ability to stay high while the country is bleeding out? I'd watch that

Chinese tourists on the BTS are the worst, over packed roller bags at 4pm on a Friday when the BTS is packed. The spitting and yelling to each other really marks them as ...whats a nice phrase for it??? Ahhh simple country folk. But I don't do much touristy stuff and I don't shop where they shop so they are more of a curiosity.
But I did notice the BTS was getting busier each month, but I guess that has quietened down. I see Bangkok as any big city, I like the frenetic pace but it does wear you down and that's when i take a break.
What wears me down most is the continuous con job that Thailand wants to play on me. The hand is always out or trying to get into my pocket.

1 Oct: Arrive
15 Oct: Tourist develops covid symptoms
16 Oct" Typical panic decision making process and the Island is locked down, tourists "invited" to enjoy another 14 days in quarantine.
That's a hard pass from me

So what, when I went to Washington DC a few years ago I inquired about the White House tour, I was informed that it was for US citizens only. Who cares

Ive read the original marathon thread...phew, that was a struggle at times.
I can do the 800K so its not a problem for me. What is more of a concern is the shifting sands of immigration policy and the fact that policy appears to be made up on the run.
Thanks to everyone who keeps us mushrooms informed.

I had 2 crowns done by BIDC last year. The price was reasonable...way cheaper than back home. The appointments were on time, the techs and the dentist spoke English very well. and the quality of the work was on a par with anything else I've had.
I will use them again

Im happy to come back as a tourist and not renew my retirement visa, I'll put the money in their bank and sit in their overpriced hotel for 2 weeks... then rundown the bank account, if i cant get the money out, clean out my condo and sell the contents. Im moving on, its all a little too hard now.
