Thanks are you able to confirm which insurance company your health insurance is with?
-
Can I also add AXA to the list. I've just had a reasonable quote from one of the brokers. Thanks

I came across Allianz Ayudhya from previous posts on AN so contacted them directly. The other two insurers were put forward by 2 different brokers based on the budget I provided to them.

Hi, I'm in the process of arranging health insurance. Within my budget I've received quotes from 3 different brokers for 3 different plans and insurers. The insurance companies are: Allianz Ayudhya Optimum Global Regency Assurance Does anyone have any positive or negative experiences with any of these insurers that they can share before I decide which plan and insurer to go ahead with? Thanks

Hi. Received my passport back from immigration in Samui today with the annual visa based on retirement so thought I'd provide a summary which may help someone in the future. I originally booked an appointment on the 2nd January. I did this online. I received notification of the appointment via email on the 1st January with a list of a few things I should bring. Turned up on the 2nd and the lady at the window downstairs was not impressed. She refused to accept that I had an appointment and confirmed that Samui doesn't operate the online booking system. So waste of time. After 3 attempts she finally agreed to check my documents. I was missing the photos of my accommodation, the police form (which she supplied) and the letter from the bank. Bangkok Bank gave me a statement and updated my book with a transaction in the morning but no letter. Eventually got an appointment for the 8th January. On the 8th I deposited 100 baht via an ATM and updated the passbook at the machine outside Bangkok bank. I managed to get a copy of the passbook early. I already had the house photos and bank letter. On the 8th I was ticket number 3 at the immigration office and was there from about 8.20 to 9.30. Other than the initial interaction with the immigration lady on the 2nd I thought the process was fairly painless. Lots of collecting paperwork and the medical certificate but nothing too challenging. Fees 1900 visa 3800 multiple entry 300 medical certificate from Thai international Chaweng 200 bank statement and letter from Bangkok Bank. 100 copying 200 passport photos Thanks for all the help. I've attached a copy of requirements from the Samui office in case this helps.

I agree with a number of other replies that Lamai may be a good option. I live on Samui between Nathon and Bang Por. Nathon is a nice little town and Bang Por has a lovely beach with some nice restaurants on the beach. The area is quiet, so if that's what you are looking for the north west of the island may be an option. Although transport is not great and probably more expensive than where you are. You may need to buy that small car. My girlfriend works at a hotel which is only a few minutes away from our cottage, hence our location. If we didn't have to be near her hotel then I'd probably move to Lamai. Everything is close at hand, bars, restaurants and the beach. It has a nice night market also and is easy to get about. Not as crowded as Chaweng which has a much younger feel to it. Maenam is also nice, with some good bars and restaurants but it's spread out over a large area. Bophut and Bangrak are also options for you. As previously mentioned, not many condos here, mainly houses, cottages and villas. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thanks again Dr Jack. The 800k 2 months is up on the 1st Jan. I'll go to the bank on the 2nd and get the book updated and the relevant statement for the extension. I applied for the 90 day in the UK. They basically processed it the same day and I wasn't flying for another week so that shortened the time. It took me a couple of weeks to find a long term rental I was happy with and then applying for the bank account and getting the money transferred. All this contributed to having to apply for the extension near the end date.

I'm currently here on a 90 day Non-Immigrant O visa (aged 55). I have an appointment with Koh Samui immigration on 2nd Jan. The 90 days is valid until 4th Jan. I'm looking to extend. Should I be following the requirements for number 22. Request for extension of stay - in the case of living in the later years on the immigration website. This appears to be the only relevant extension of stay based on my circumstances. If so, the relevant application is the TM7? am i correct with all of this or miles away 😬

Hi. I'm on a non immigrant O visa which I will eventually extend for a further year. I've managed to open an account with Bangkok Bank without any real issues. I have now deposited 800k in the account. 700k (in baht) came directly from my own Revolut account. The other 100k was moved through my girlfriend's Thai bank account. I transferred the 100k to her via Wise before I'd opened the Thai bank account. She then transferred the 100k into my new account with Bangkok Bank. I have a record of the transfers going from my Wise account into her Thai bank account. I read on another thread that the 800k has to come from an account or accounts outside of Thailand. Is this correct? If so, do I have an issue with the 100k which went through my girlfriend's account even though I can prove that it was originally my cash and from outside of Thailand? I'd hate to turn up at immigration after 2 months wait and have an issue with this. Apologies if this has already been covered on the forum. Much appreciated. Thanks

Thanks to the 3 guys who replied. Decision made. I probably don't need to fly in mid September now. My original plan for the 18th October is more likely. I'll apply for the non-O in the UK and extend when I get over. Thanks again for the info.

Sorry the visa should read non-immigrant O visa

Hi. I had a METV which ended late July. I managed to use it for just under 9 months so all good . Just before it ended I went to Cambodia for 3 days flying back into Suvarnabhumi early August, so I arrived when the new visa rules were in force. The IO at the airport was originally not going to let me in. Luckily I had a flight booked to the UK on the 20th August. After about 20 minutes and discussions with her colleagues she grudgingly stamped me in until 29th September. I then flew out to the UK on the 20th August. I have a flight booked to return to Thailand (BKK) on the 18th October. It is my intention to apply for an AO when I arrive. I had been living on Phuket since January but my partner is about to move to a new job in Samui. I'm tempted to fly back this month (probably the 17th) for two weeks or 10 days to help with the move. I'm trying to guage the position with the new visa rules - especially given that they weren't too keen on letting me in at the start of August. Is it too much of a risk to come back mid September (even with a return flight) or is it now the case that with the new rules I should be OK. Also, does the fact that I have a stamp to the 29th September have any relevance even though I've left the country - I presume it doesn't. As previously, any option or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I'm currently in Phnom Penh (arrived yesterday) as my last Thai visa ended today (30th). I plan to return to Bangkok on the 1st August. I have a flight booked from Bangkok to the UK on the 20th August and would prefer to spend the time in Thailand until then. My previous visa was METV. The first Thai stamp on the visa December 23 - flying into BKK. I then went to Lao Feb 24 and returned over land a few days later. During the visa I also had two return trips to Malaysia (via air) and a return flight to the UK. My question is, do these still count in respect of me returning to Thailand on the 1st August. My original plan was to come back on the bus (Phnom Penh to Bangkok) but I'd rather avoid the long journey and fly back. If I fly, I'm a bit worried they will refuse me entry as I've already had a few visa stamps through airports already this year. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the input guys. I was looking to see if the lease could be used, the info provided, answered that question. Decided to leave the licence application to when I come back in October and can sort out new accommodation.

Not sure. I'm not an immigration expert, hence the original post. If this means 90 day report then correct it's not relevant for me. Thanks

Thanks. That is helpful

Thought that may be the case. Thanks for the response
