Very true, and the camera I suggested also fits into this category.

However the OP specifically stated that

so if he goes down this route, it means that if he ever does wish to view any recordings, he will have to remove the SD card from the camera and install it in a SD card reader for a PC or something similar so he can view the media files.

That is exactly what I would do so I can take it to the Cop shop to show them how my missus was attacked if god forbid this happens again, just maybe the cops might give her a warning, next time, but I wont hold my breath. I told my wife to ask the bitch for compensation. My wife was so traumatized I thought one of her kids had died.

I dont need to I know how CCTV works and for security purposes you want a record which is usually a recording going back 24 hours without over writing any data. A SD card wont guarantee that such data is available over this period of time.

   I didn't say you did need to know

You could check out the EZVIZ range on Lazada... see here.

Just because a camera like the C3TN is wifi capable does not mean that you have to use it.

That particular model also accepts SIM cards of up to 256GB so plenty of storage space.

It also has human motion detection which is handy.

Thanks that were the ones I've been looking at, I presume you mean memory cards not sim cards ?

Recording in a loop is fine but if it is for security you dont want video to over write what you want to review.

    See my edit.

You want a means of storage. CCTV is of little use if you cant look at an incident. The use of the phone is so you can see any activity when you are not there. If you are using an SD card then the camera needs motion detection or you will be changing the card many times.

My dash cam just has a CD/memory card and just records in a loop, no need to change the card ever. Edit; What happens when nobody is there doesn't matter in this circumstance it to protect my missus from attack at her shop, and be able to show the cops next time. Full story on How's your week end.

It may pay to visit PowerBuy and see what they have to offer.

Here is their online surveillance camera page to give you an idea.

Thanks for your help, but I'm on Koh Chang, Advice here are good but they don't speak English, Big C same, and one phone repair shop sells them, but catching the only one who speaks English actually there is a hit and miss situation, I have sent a message to the seller on Lazada but often sent in Thai, even though I request their reply in English, the reply I've got so far is ♥♥♥ :giggle: really helpful init. I think I'll just go to one of them and open the box, I'm sure I can figure it out by just looking at it. Cheers.

  8. I'm a complete novice on this, but the time has come to install one at Mrs. B shop. after a violent incident occurred.

I want one that just plugs into the mains and takes a memory card, no WIFI, or phone connection, I have looked on Lazada but they talk about connecting it to a phone.

Any help would be appreciated. I see some for under 700b which would be in my budget, but they do not show where the card would be fitted.

  9. I am caught up in a Thai soap, Started Friday when my wife was at her shop enjoying a beer with her friends/couples from neighboring shops, her direct neighbors wife, A very big lady twice the size of her, who's husband owns the row of shops, suddenly appeared brandishing a plastic bottle accused her of having an affair with her husband (who was not even there), and thumped her on the forehead with the base of the bottle, I can imagine that as being quite painful, :crying: In tears she rang her friend, who came and took her to the Police station to make a report, which she duly did, the cops told her to go to hospital to get a report, she was to upset to do that, x-rays wouldn't show anything anyway IMO, She came home with her friend completely bawling her eyes out  😭😭 not even able to tell me what had happened until Saturday morning, she was looking really haggard, she hardly slept, and was to scared to even go and open her shop, in case she came again, but she has gone today, the cops said come again if she repeats it :post-4641-1156694572: . I now have to think about setting up a CTV camera. It is a small village and no other shops are available. So, so far not a good weekend.

My wife is a good lady, not only does she struggle to make her shop pay, Repairing clothes, beauty stuff, selling food, she is a health volunteer, and a Trash Hero.

  10. I still give my wife the same 'allowance' every month, 9 years down the track even though her 2 kids are now adults, who work and earn their own money and share a house which is on a mortgage the daughter got, for two reasons, I can budget my money every month, I don't have to buy her anything, she even buys her own food most of the time. She has her own shop, that is nothing to do with me and she works almost everyday.

Why are you asking me? Ask the Thai Navy why they made this weak deal.

I don't need to, I know it will be fitted with a CHD629 DIESEL Engine to turn the Generator the RTN have already announced  it, hence the point of this OP.

IT IS a Diesel Engine not a generator ! the biggest question now IMO is where is the Generator made and how reliable is it, as with the batteries.

Should be obvious to see because automatic transmissions will show the currently selected gear somewhere in the dash while a CVT doesn't. ATs usually also have a manual mode.

I have 2 CVT and both show what is currently selected on the dash, I have never seen an ATs presuming you mean auto, that has a manual mode.

CVT has been used in production cars since the late 50s, that is what I said in response to your reference of "CVT being around at least 10 years".   Now you're throwing "steel belts" into the discussion after the fact!

    Trolling again.

The times when you worked are long gone, now technology has made great strides and if you were to go back to work now you would simply be surprised that you know almost nothing.

Unless the laws of Physics have changed, I could, you are talking out your backside, Batteries Can not be charged without a generator on a ship or Sub, or anything else, apart from connecting to a power source, perpetual motion does not exist on earth.

Tell me what would drive the generator. You are just trolling now.

What they want to make the engine become is the alternator which becomes an EV type engine where the brakes are used to produce electricity in order to recharge the batteries

    CHD620 engine

Yes of course a sub has brakes, I forgot that...The CHD620 is a diesel engine which is going to be fitted. End of it is not a generator or an alternator !

Whatever they 'want' is not what will be fitted. You are dreaming.

Yes, I CAN READ; do you not KNOW that 60 years-plus is "AT LEAST 60 years", not "at least 10 years"!

So mister know it all what cars had the steel belt system in the late 50s.

So you can't answer that but I'm sure you'll find some BS.

On our ride says change at 60kkm, but if you like the foot to the floor thing, it is recommended earlier. Though I am not a foot to the floor merchant any longer, I do change the fluid at about 30kkm, which is roughly every 2 years, so no big deal.

As for belt stretch, as our belt is of the steel variety, I have not noticed anything odd, and the box is now at 150kkm, still runs great......🤗

Same here although I do have to floor it sometimes to overtake Large trucks, on highways, and steep hill climbs on KC, I go with the 30kkm, or every third engine oil change as I like to think of it. (overdrive off going down steep hills). EDIT: I also put it in N when at lights, that's my thinking of 'resting' the box.

It seems to me that you are fixated on diesel engines and have not yet studied the concept of EVs, which to my knowledge do not run on a diesel or even alternators.

While the alternator is essential to operate a submarine, which requires a large number of batteries to receive the electrical power.

So a very long extension lead to plug it in if not how do the batteries on EVs get charged?  ....And pray what would turn the 'Alternator' if not an engine ? A wind turbine ? My Understanding of Mechanics is way beyond yours I see, that's why it was my job for 55 yrs.
