  1. But at the same time, some neighborhoods really have a feel of a small town...
  2. You have a problem Sir, if you cannot see the positive in Bangkok, you shouldn't keep on going back there...
  3. This no hab sounds funny but it's the spirit, the kindness of Thais who try to be nice to foreign people despite the little fluency they have in English. Yesterday I was in the BTS and a Thai girl bumped into me, she said "solly, solly, Sir", I said with a smile, no problem, Mai pen rai, she was so pleased that falang can speak a little, nit nói, Thai! LOL
  4. I have been hearing this since I visited Pattaya for the first time in the 90's. Still it remains a large brothel that can indeed be a family destination as long as your family isn't prudish and don't mind the ever present sex trade
  5. Most probably she did have insurance but the moment she sat on the motorbike, no licence, the coverage evaporated. Null, zero
  6. The article is right about paying the "fine" on the spot as it useless to fight against the Thai police, the act like a mafia and if the issue is brought to the police station more and more senior officers will be looking into the issue which means it will become more expensive. You cannot beat the Thai police, period.
  7. Really? How stupid and outdated to say such a thing...
  8. This dispute between Taksin and Prayut should be resolved in a Muay Thai boxing match alive in Pattaya. I would bet on Taksin, how about you guys?
  9. Koh Tao is somewhat part of my life as I did my Divemaster's course there back in 2002. (After that I continued to become an istructor in the west) I ended my stay by getting Dengue fever and had to go to a hospital in Koh Samui. Back then the island was so relaxed, most of the people staying there were involved in the diving industry, the dive sites were perfect for learners. I just feel sad that the reputation of this beatiful island is so demaged now.
  10. Wow! Another one claiming "I'm an American in Thailand!", there's nothing new under the sun!
  11. And people like me who have had a lot of past experience with it, specially in the teenage years now avoid it like a plague as it creates tolerance, once you smoke some continuously, you become more and more insensitive to it and some people are compelled to smoke more It's really like kissing a mermaid, I would not recommend but still think that everyone should try at least once.
  12. Money, money, money, that's all that matters to the Thai government! They are bringing also some wonderful new Covid variants as a gift to Thailand!
  13. Only competition can bring it down. One airline trying to bring down the margins of another airline.
  14. Why this kind of stuff always happen in Pattaya? It seems this place brings out this sensuousness in many people...
  15. The so called "Leave your brain at the airport" concept...
  16. True! In Thailand you can get away with almost anything! TIT!
  17. Sorry to say but most helmets in most shops are a complete joke and don't give any protection. They are just a formality to comply with the law. I'm very sorry for what happened to this woman, maybe some rich Thai tycoon could help to pay her hospital bill. She is in my prayers, I hope she will recover soon.
  18. This hotel has a swastika on the front! I wouldn't stay in such a place, even knowing that this reverse swastika means something totally different in Asia...
  19. If he was totally drunk as some posts here suggest, he was already killing himself with alcohol, so he only accelerated the process. Better if he had smoked a joint instead!
  20. No, they are also in pain, most of the times the family is dysfunctional, there's no love and one of the parents is a narcissist.
  21. Exactly. Homeless kids take drugs to ease the pain of being homeless, having no parents. Why isn't the government providing shelter and food for them?
  22. The Sino Thais are a different category as they came in different waves of immigration many generations ago and are now perceived as part of Thai society.
  23. Just saw five of them yesterday @ Pier 21 mall... ????
  24. Well, that may be until they comit a local crime...Then heaven turns into hell.
