  1. I take issue with this. Historically it is true, however in the last fifteen to twenty years or so tipping has become the expected norm in most restaurants above roadside noodle vendor class.

Many things are expected. Money should change hands when it is earned, not expected. TIP is an acronym for "To Insure Promptness." If you are promptly served TIP away. In my experience promptness is no more a part of Thai custome than tipping.

  2. I don’t know for sure if it is legal but I imagine it would be legal to post a sign that stated 15% added automatically to the bill of missionaries. At any rate if I open up a restaurant in Chiang Mai I would post such a sign. If nothing else it would get me some good publicity.

I don't know about missionaries but the concept you suggest here is pure idiocy. There is basically no tipping in Thailand, leaving a few baht or loose change is not really the same as tipping 15 - 20%

  3. So for couples who aint into the heavy bar scene and dont want a flee infested doss house or to be too hassled by local hookers and their paramours....where.....apart from the obvious... Hua hin/Cha Am/Chiang Mai....

...so Decent Hotels with beach,Restaurant with drinkable plonk and maybe a cabaret ( but no karaoke)...dont sound too much to ask...isit

Why are you going to Pattaya if you are not interested in sex tourist haunts. Or maybe I should ask ...why Thailand?

el grande, you should really remove that large bug that is inserted in your rear orifice.

I have seen you make many racial and unprovoked and shitty remarks about Thailand and people here.If you really don't like it, why don't you go somewhere else to play. There's a good lad. :o

Just commenting on the title of the thread you . xxxxxxxx

I do not make racial remarks, just astute observations. Don't blame the messenger you cccccccc.

  6. I suppose this will sound bad, but....what would make Hua Hin better would be to turn back the clock and stop all the uncontrolled development which has brought all the fun things that we didnt used to have like overwhelming traffic; crime, greed and the sense that you are no longer in Thailand when walking anywhere near the Hilton area. "Paradise City"? Maybe a few years ago. Not anymore.

For sure if you do not have crime and greed you are not in the Real Thailand .. maybe Disneyland

    Nice beach in HuaHin

Are you talking about the NJ Nets? I didn't think the Nets had any fans. :o

  7. I just met a nice girl in Udon thani for 10 days ,and I am in love with her even though she is 30 Yrs younger than me. I would love to marry her but a bit scare pls tell me about your exp. I am staying at Silver Reef B&B (udon ) until end of JULY....................... new kid on the block.

30 years is not too much.

It is just a matter of how old she is not you.

If she has kids no need to marry.

If she does not have kids, abd she is 28 or older take it slow and get out without wasting too much of her time as she will want a family. Look for someone around 22 and start ending it when she is about 27 so she can go off and have a Thai family and live happily ever after.

Marrying is pointless as the traditional reasons to marry (if there are any) do not exist in Thailand.

This is a good news bad news situation:

The good news is the recent changes will have no effect on you :D

The bad news is your screwed! :o

  9. The Dude is 44 and retired in Thailand for now. He will maintain his residence in the states though just in case he wants to go back someday. The Dude does not like to burn bridges; He digs keeping them open and maintained. He digs the quality of life and wide arrange of goods and services offered in the USA. He has a palacial pad on the beach there. He knows if he sold out and torched the bridge that he could never return. He wishes to have that option. Now who can dig that with a shovel?

Khun The dude chawp kian third person maak maak

  10. Other countries should have a reciprical policy against Thais. The Thai poor will not suffer; only the wealthy Thais who have land overseas.

Yeah, and all farangs entering the LOS should all be made to wear armbands with an embroidered guava logo. It'll be just like Krakow, and we won't even need new property and business legislation.

    :o

nothing wrong with a little krakow

  11. If he was coming in late with customers waiting you really had no choice.

The little terd did not have enough respect for your Farang customers so he was likely not being respectful on the tours either.

I am not a believer in family businesses ... seems to cultivate incompetence. The whole Thai ruling class system operates like a family business.

  12. Well after six months slaving over a hot deak I am off on Holiday.

Oooo errr! Sounds a bit rude........... :o

Have a good flight! You'll have a blast in Pattaya!

A hot " deak!!!" I think I meant...... oh never mind in 10 days I will be slaving over a hot Tik, or maybe Noi or maybe.............

    Richard

maybe move this discussion in the gay section ladies

  13. By the time I'm 60 I'll probably be so grumpy that I'd be banned from TV... maybe that's why so few oldies post here? :o They tend to be less diplomatic, more likely to call a spade a spade...

If you tell it like it is, call a Thai a Thai, or call a ho a ho, you will surely be banned on any Thailand website. Most farangs in Thailand would not know a spade if they saw one.

  14. I will be in BKK June 1 - 4 and am looking for recommendations for a day trip or possible overnighter that weekend. I've been to BKK a few times (and love it) but was hoping to see a little more of Thailand this time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try Korat, only 3 hours by bus :o

  15. I lost a 250K house in the UK to my wife. I renovated it, paid for everything in there and lost it all.

Guess what, she is english not Thai.

What is the point here? Women in any country can take money from fools

I have since met a Thai woman in the UK. I have never been happier. I talked to her about buying property over in Thailand and she adviced me not to. Do i trust her, absolutely. Were of similar age and have a very understanding relationship.

LOL. Some never learn. I look forward to your post when she scams you.

  16. Thai's could just as easily argue "if you can come to my country, then I should be able to come to yours"... how easy would have it been for your wife to get into your country (let alone afford property) were it not for her marriage to you?

The issue is not them comming, it is making sure they leave. Otherwise you may have a brothel in your nice cozy town

  17. one would have to be pretty resourceless to trust their 'wife' to be the owner of the houses, especially if we're talking an expensive house... 'wives' come and go, ESPECIALLY in Thailand.... just my .02

:o:D What kind of marriage do you have anyway! Must a sad marriage without trust.

    LOL ... Good one

Trust your Thai wife with the house ... LMAO

Where do these guys come from.

  18. Seen the prices lately from The States? Flights from NY are OUTRAGEOUS

A flight which was previously available in the $800-900 range is now in the $1400 - $1600 range. This has got to take a bite out of tourism y elGrande duai.

Anyone know any discount tiket sources?
