Fist it was 50 Aussies murdered overseas, then later in the article it was 49 Aussies murdered, the Consular state of play stated, but the article fails to clarify if it was in Thailand or an accumulation of other countries, I would suggest the latter.
Poor reporting in my opinion.
ALMOST 50 it said.

In the past it was quite common for wives whose husband was caught cheating to slice off his penis and feed it to the ducks. In fact there are still isolated cases today.

Please help me understand this article.
It says thailand is in the top 20 most dangerous countries to visit. Then next it says the report places Thailand 118 out of 136 countries. with a placement of 4 . I do not know about the rest of you but 118 seems to not be in the top 20. What is this article trying to say?
Of course do the maths it 18th from the top therefore in top20

Next door to immigration in Jomtien is a print shop that will make you credit card sized plasticized card with PP copy on one side and visa details on the other for a very small price. As far as I know this card is acceptable to police.

I just renewed my passport in Bangkok it came in 17 days. (17th Feb to 4th March). Staff were polite and efficient.
It cost 106.01 Pounds and was sent by DHL not the Thai PO !
With the new pp they gave me the blank form to certify to Immigration that my pp was genuine.
I took it the Embassy and waited 12 minutes while they stamped and signed it....no Charge. -
My grateful thanks to all of you. The time factor is a problem so maybe I will try to get my UK bank to open a joint account.
-
My wife and I have recieved a joint cheque for several thousand pounds from a UK insurance co. They would not do a transfer because we do not have a joint bank a/c.
I am coming over next week on a 1 year non imm family (O) visa so should have no problem setting up a joint a/c but will we be able to pay this cheque in to it ?
Any help gratefully recieved.

I have been married to my Thai wife since 1998. We got married in the UK and all her Thai documents ID, driving licence, passport and bank account are all in her married name (as required by law). Now I have retired and wish to get a retirement visa.
I can be in the UK if it is easier to apply from there but she is in Thailand waiting for me.
I was interested to see a post that said that if we both travelled to Singapore or Bali we could get a visa from there ?
Any advice, given my particular circumstances, gratefully recieved.

Good news ! Something in my posting of gregb’s response must sent out a signal to the right people because now everything is working fine again.
LOL

Hi gregb
Thank you very much for your in-depth reply. What I can tell you is that sometimes my wifes phone shows “private number calling” when I call her and sometimes it shows a Thai number.
There is an amusing side to this in that the first time it happened I could tell something was wrong in her voice and then she finally said “why are you in Pattaya and you not tell me you come to Thailand?”
Anyway I am trying to contact the cards hotline but without success at the moment.
I was hoping to hear if anyone else has this problem (or not).
I will post any progress and hopefully an explanation.

For years I have been using a calling card to call to my wife in Bangkok from Europe. For the last 4 days when I call her she hears the phone ring but there is only silence on the line. For me I do not hear the phone ringing at all just silence. Using the same card I can call the house phone and speak to her no problem.
So is anyone else having this problem ?? By the way I bought another calling card and have the same problem.

Do they tot up the days when youu arrive ? I thought it was only on departure. However if they do it on arrival they may make a specific point if they see you only have 5 days left and warn you not to overstay. But good luck please let us know what happens
