  1. Sorry I can't answer your questions but could you or other members answer the following questions:

    - Does the service use the same actual cable that brings Sophon Cable TV into the house?

    - What if it's a condo or village where there is central point to bring in the signal, then It's distributed from that central hub, by cable, to individual houses / condo units? In this scenario would individual internet service be possible?

    Thanks.

I have had their service now for several months. When they did the installation in the condo building they ran a separate cable line. It is not connected to the TV cable in any way. I opted for the 4mb service and am getting about 3mb out of Thailand. Since I have had the line I have had a problem only once and it turned out that it really was on my end.. They were out with a service call within an hour. I am in the Tukcom area.

  2. Has any one recently installed Sophon internet, if so what is it like compared to the competition. Sophon can now serve my home on the 3rd road soi6, but I would like some feed back before making the change.

    Thanking you in advance

    JOHN

I have had the 4mb service installed for about 3 weeks now and have no trouble with it what so ever. I called the office around 1PM on a Friday afternoon and it was up and running by 5:30. I am in the Tukcom area of town

  3. Is there anyway to stop Firefox 3.6 from asking me if I want to save my password. I get this pop up every time I visit a site that requires me to log in. I have repeatedly said No but it still asks each time. Pop up Blocker does not seem to help

    thanks

  4. Was just about to start a new thread on this.

You want the AIS 3G AIRCARD E160E. About 3-4k THB. Then get a separate 12CALL SIM and put 1150 Baht credit on the thing. Call up AIS and have it put on Unlimited Data 999Baht a month. No contract, just add another 1100 baht a month top up and it automatically sets up the next month.

I was running a fancy Sierra Wireless Express card 880E, awful. 20 kbps. Now, same location, same SIM, with this AIS USB stick, well, see attached. Running at 250 kbps no problem. Actually usable now. This is in the middle of rice farming country too.

    Happy days!

Forget Edge, hopeless. I purchased an Edge USB Modem for 1500 baht and replaced the SIM with DTAC, they have a promotion 50 + 50(Bonus) 100hrs for 199baht I think the promotion ends in October. I must mention DTAC has it's moments but certainly a breeze in comparison to Edge.

Only AIS works up here and no 3G, but this new stick works 10x faster than the 880E. Have no idea why.

So you are saying that if I upgrade my old Edge SEGM-520 usb modem to the AIS 3G AIRCARD E160E and still use the existing 12Call sim that my speed will improve drastically. Im up here in rice fields also around Khlong Lan

  5. This did turn out to be a good day since the sun was shinning and Choa and I actually got out right in the middle of it. All the photos were taken on the main highway except the first one which was right down the road from where I live. As you can see, people will block one side of the highway which forces you to get into a single lane. That is when you get it. Up here car and motor bikes will stop so people can wish them a Happy Songkran. Nothing like in Pattaya where you have to be worried about being knocked off a bike with a water cannon. They don't do that here and that is one of the reasons it is just too much fun.

Ive never posted photos here before and I'm not even sure that it should be in this forum since they are not really gay related.. Well , maybe because of me :o

Hope I dont bore you with these

  7. I have an Edge USB modem with an AIS sim. At times the connection speed is beyond terrible to semi tolerable. Is there any way to add a booster to the modem to see if I can increase the signal strength. Is an external mounted booster out of the question ?

    thanks,

    john

If you are sure the modem is EDGE capable, you can easily try a Dtac SIM card. Most of the time in my area Dtac is much better.

I am positive its an Edge modem and Edge capable. It is a model SEGM-520. Where I live, up around Khlong Lan in the NW Dtac gets a pretty weak signal.. 12 Call gives better reception. I just need to find out if the signal can be boosted.

    thanks,

  9. If you can possibly go in to your local AIS office then they are always helpful and can usually tell you what is going on. While you're there also ask them to block spam SMS and MMS as that can be a problem. You may be getting charged for automatic messages without being aware of it, GPS is another possibility even if you don't think you are using it.

    where is one in Pattaya?

I believe there is one on the first floor of Tukcom. It would be just to the left as you get off the escalator.

  10. Have a look at this list from the immigration website. You can also mail in your report. For info click on button for notification of staying over 90 days on the left side of this page. If you mail in be sure and use 10 baht for the postage not 5 baht as it says.

Thank you very much for the information and the fast reply.. I really needed the help
