Meanwhile 120,000 illegal Thai workers only in South Korea

There are ads in local papers saying that Thai need to go to Sth Korea. Jobs are waiting.

If Korea wishes to, they can easily evict the Thai workers.

But I suspect this will not happen any time soon. The Thai are doing the work that

a richer class of Sth Koreans will not do. It was the same with Mexicans in US until a few years ago.

I know of several Thais who went to Korea a few years ago and now own a house and car when they returned.

    Most will want to return.

Yes, but you have to understand they truly enjoy setting these fires and they simply don't care about the downsides. To put this in perspective note there is also no need to smoke cigarettes, but you'll find farmers puffing away. They could simply care less about the health or economic downsides and will blow smoke in your face if you bring it up. It's very important to understand no amount of awareness or education will bring change. The solution is simple: enforcement. The problem is no one wants that. The farmers are happy lighting fires and the people are content to put up with it; just like what happened before there were smoking laws. Just one happy family.

It's the outsiders that see a problem. The Thai's get defensive when outsiders raise the air pollution issue. Like the CM official who last year publicly slammed activists and took out a law suit against them for raising awareness about the pollution. Or the pollution control department who rigs the pollution scale to hide the extent of pollution and they become irritated if you talk in terms of meaningful clean air scales like the WHO or US EPA..."nevermind that, our air is fine just look at the thai scale!" Now knowing this don't say you weren't warned, but just try "educating" one farmer and see what happens. Tarred and feathered.

I try to be less cynical. I have been to schools in Thailand and

it shocked me to see how little they are taught.

I live in a rural area and I can truly say that they truly do care about there environment.

Still, they got rid of the weed killer that many countries still use. The village people do care.

But... every where they go, armed angry men in uniform tell them the "rules",

  3. One thing that Mr Trump never was is Sportsperson.

Unfortunately, he suffered severe bone spur of the heel to prevent him engaging in any sport activity except playing golf.

This spur arrived just before subscription to the Army to go to Vietnam, thankfully he was able to dodge the draft.

But his bone spur disease allows him to play golf. And good on him. Maybe he can chat about various indiscretions with the tiger

  4. I think it comes down to intelligence.

Mr Trump is appealing to his base.

The rest of the world (mostly) finds this religious rant as being totally stupid.

But the US base is religious looneyism.

And this from the best IT country.

When China does exceed US, it will not be burdened with crazy religious dogma.

Like virgin births, resurrections, devils placed into some wandering pigs and so on.

It is a crock of poo.

  5. Nothing in this debate makes sense.

And that comes from the leader of Great Britain.

You can lead from the front if everyone supports you.

Ms May believes she can lead from the front if no one supports her.

I think it will dawn on everyone what a dud she is.

I suspect this is the strategy, because MS May has always been a supporter to remain.

And it has cost UK taxpayers a huge fortune for Ms May to dud you.

I have no problem with abortion per the Roe V. Wade ruling. I am starting to question whether the advocacy of "very" late term abortion or after birth infanticide is something that should be taking place. Late term is generally considered about 24 weeks (6 months). I'm not really clear on what people on the left are advocating at this point. Lots of confusion over this. If a women can't make up her mind in 24 weeks they have a serious problem. However, I am not so sure that the taxpayers should be funding anything but birth control. I'm all for government funded birth control but think it is a bit odd to see the taxpayers being forced to fund abortion which may be against their beliefs. Personally I think Planned Parenthood is a racket taking millions from the government and in business basically to make those that run it quite wealthy.  Like so many contracted "social services" that local, state, and federal government fund, little money is spent on the services and lots of money spent on those that run the organizations.  It is like everything else the government involves itself in, it is never well run and never goes as intended.

I have no problems with you holding "beliefs"

I do have issues when you impose your "beliefs" on others.

And that is mostly what your post is about.

How about ladies/ young girls, with support, nurture, compassion be allowed to make up their own mind.

Without the scorning religious dogma, and your opinions the world would be a better place when we do not victimise at risk young people

Just 3 days ago I had a baby snake in my kitchen and I discovered it just after showering. I called my wife for help and in came my neighbours to see what all the fuss was about. Talk about red faced, me wrapped in a towel 2 sizes to small.

Anyway they caught and killed it by repeatedly beating it with a metal mop handle. Then after they'd eyed up the contents of my downstairs rooms, they went back to sit on their doorsteps.

Snakes are an important part of the environment. Leave them alone and they go away.

And I know spitting cobras and pit vipers are deadly. Check out how many people die and assess the risk - minimal.

I get pythons (mostly reticulated but some Burmese) and lots of very large rat snakes.

And others I have not identified. But I do as I did in outback Australia where truly venomous snakes roam.

Ignore them. Leave them alone and they go home, wagging their tails behind them.

    Apologies to Enid Blynton

  8. I have just returned from Cambodia to Thailand. Paddy field burning in Cambodia is still happening.

I do not offer a solution except that it needs to be an ASEAN high priority topic.

Sorry, that is not on the ASEAN agenda.

I don't know who can educate the farmers that rice stubble improves the soil.

There is no need to burn it.

Even if you do not plough it back into the soil, stubble will soon break down and improve the soil.

The problem is not uneducated farmers, it is so called educated politicians.

Is this the part where you go on to attack the entire right for the actions of a spy? Call the NRA a terrorist organization?

Just asking because you're on the extreme left and apparently stating what the left is going to do with this information is not allowed, according to you.

And you seem particularly angry this morning.

I agree with you. Sort of. A bit maybe.

There was no need for the Russians to infiltrate extreme right wingers to influence the Republican Party and conservatives.

The gun lobby was already doing far better than this amateur attempt by Russia. There is no collusion, the gun lobby is doing far better than cheap Russian attempts.

  10. There is nothing new in this post and there will be nothing new in any post.

The old regime rules and will always rule.

Why is anyone surprised? Contrived Democracy is the term.

It has never been different in Thailand. Not ever.

Unlike US. A recent contrived event. But the same formula.

Who ever would have thought that Thailand could teach US how to suck eggs.

  11. It is easy. Take a leaf out of Laos tourist plans.

Welcoming at the border or airport.

    Minimal police strutting around.

    Immigration officials welcome you

Get the soldiers back in the barracks.

Get rid of the smog that is everywhere.

Get rid of traffic congestion and grid lock in the cities.

Make it affordable to come here.

Tell Chinese and Indian tourists how to act civilized. Tell them not to block the street and fail to let someone pass when they crowd off the bus.

Clean up the beaches, the streets.....

Not going to happen is it?

I thought you stated in one of your previous posts that you were Thai?

I am a farang living in Thailand. My wife is Thai.

I have never suggested to anyone that I am Thai or a citizen.

    I wish I was.

I comply with every rule and rule change.

I smile and act subservient to Thai officials as do every Thai citizen.

I do this because my wife cannot come to my country and I wish to spend the rest of my life with her.

    It must be love.

Try again, I specifically addressed Thai govt civilians being murdered. Disenfranchised would be civilians being murdered by both sides of the conflict, together with their poverty. The 'supply line' is being feed by corrupt Thai govt and security forces plus oil and drug smuggling. I have not expressed support for the insurgency, only stated facts. I have never expressed support for terrorism. Stop the personal attacks just because I disagree with your commentary

As has happened around the world with fights for some form of autonomy, the killing stops when political solutions are implemented. IMO it is long overdue for both parties to get their act together in order they they can work together for a path to peace to stop the misery and killings for both sides. However, as a local once informed me he his doubtful of an early agreement due to the money being made by the conflict.

So let me quote you. The supply of weapons and money to Muslim terrorists is being fed by Thai Govt and security forces.

Yeah, you got me, that seems plausible.

You mention poverty. I live in a region where most persons are no where near wealthy. But we all look after each other.

But no one is trying to blow up the neighbour.

Once again your post suggests that anyone has a right to murder if you have a grievance.

You keep on trying to find a reason or excuse why terrorists are murderers.

I am not sure if you have noticed, but most posters ignore you because you constantly

say you are offended by someone that challenges your excuses.

I don't care, you have caused me to be blocked on numerous occasions.

Now you suggest it is Thai forces that provide the supply line to Islamists.

That is Thai forces are providing weapons, cash and training to Islamists.

And it is only oil and drug interests that cause a Muslim to kill a nurse.

    Yeah, that seems plausible

A cynical comment with a crumb of truth behind it ...

If your death is in any way suspicious, the Thai authorities will welcome a rapidly conducted cremation of your body. It inhibits any later investigation.

I did not mean what you say. I meant when I die of natural causes, I will be burnt and the monks have said I will be treated with respect.

I meant that I want to die here in my own home, with a loving family. The monks say they can do that.

The Thai authorities give me no such guarantee

As noted on another page there are 448 pages of evidence available to the general public. He obstructed justice. Mueller couldn't indict a sitting president but he laid out the obstruction and sent it to congress.

And Mr Barr brushed it all away. There are more blacked out "redacted" truths in this phoney statement than all the black holes in the universe.

But this is USA today, everything and every one is redacted to "protect". What a crock US has turned out to be.

Untruth, injustice and the redneck way.

Yes, the faculties at US colleges and universities are rife with arsonists. No one is safe.

I suspect this is tongue in cheek. (At least I hope so) You are more likely to be shot than burnt at any education or religious institution.

The authorities did well to apprehend him. And I hope he does a long time away, probably in a mental institution.

Thanks for the heads up and sorry for your issues

Yes, I agree. I try to follow the rules and comply.

Nevertheless, I have some empathy for the poster. He got caught out on the constant rule changes.

I go to the regional immigration every few months. They tell me the new rules and ways to comply.

However, you need money in bank and an income stream of some sort.

The head monk at the wat says he will burn me when I die.

I hope Thailand authorities allow me that. I hope they don't change the rules again.

  18. I wish Mr Trump was my president.

No hint of obstruction, collusion, corruption.

No hint of sexism, cowardice, draft dodging, treason.

No hint of failures in foreign affairs, trade agreements.

Instead true and close friendships with the countries of the House of Saud, North Korea, Russia.

A loathing of all other democracies in the world.

This person is clued up. What an intellect, what a hero, what a champion.
