It would be interesting to see if it is shown on the old site.

Shortcut to get to it. https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/TM47Action.do?cmd=acceptTerm

Sir honestly I have to say that we have to wait till tomorrow for them to process all these completed applications. At least we have to thank them for keeping their servers online during a Sunday. Yesterday a Saturday they shut their servers down. I am sure that by evening they will shut down their servers down again till tomorrow. Have a great day sir ubon joe.

  2. I have been trying since yesterday morning and no luck. Just now I tried and got my confirmation email saying that they received a completed application.  They will respond to me in two to three days.  Please everyone try to register now and get a login email from immigration where they give you a password to login using the same email address you originally provided

Hi Celcius, When my small DeLonghi was playing up I contacted De L in bangkok via facebook. Very helpful english speaking guy put me in touch with their CM repair agent, out in Mae Hia.

After calling him, he collected it, repaired it, and brought it back-under warranty. He was a very good guy and I think a one man band and not expensive. I have just searched unsuccessfully for his card.  Maybe if you contact the maker of your machine theywill point you towards their man in CM.

If not, you could be cheeky and ask De Longhi for their chiang mai repair guy. he is not exclusive to them.

    Best of luc

You didn't ask me, but my wife just had her machine repaired by Hilkoff (I'm sorry but I can't remember the brand, which I think starts with 'E'- it's a small but professional-grade machine that cost ~100K new)- it had been unused for a while and we decided to get it going again.  One of the two pumps needed replacing, and only one of the four 'pour setting' buttons worked (this was apparently a major job to fix)- it cost 14K to repair, and now works like new.  They originally quoted 20K, so I was happy to hear it was less in the end.

The repair guy was very nice to deal with and picked up and returned the machine in a Hilkoff truck.

Hello beau and flare,. Thanks for the update.  I asked how much you guys paid is I wanted to get an idea as to where do I draw the line when they quote a price to a point that I better get a second opinion price. For example I am going to yok intertrade first next to Bangkok Hospital . The tech is coming to my place. If the price is reasonable then ok too high I will go to Hillkoff store. These are the 2 choices.  Just because you came in 100 K. Mercedes to get a 30K espresso machine repaired I don't think that they will quote a different price than a local Thai. Big repair shops for cars, electronics and appliances don't charge by " local " and foreigner. That is my presumption. A fruit vendor, vegetables vendors may spontaneously jack up the price when they see who is buying. Then again not in Chiang Mai I am guessing. May be in Bangkok it could be true. In Chiang Mai I see happy faces everywhere.  I am only referring to urban Chiang Mai.  Any how thanks again.

  4. Appreciate your reply. I have already gone through you tube videos. The problem is beyond diy . Hillkoff coffee that sells Gaggia machines also has a repair shop attached. I was going to the forum to see if someone can recommend even a better idea

  5. Regarding making a fuss about the TM 30, I imagine that (guessing) when they enter your passport number, they have to get some sort of response from their server, which I presume the hotel reporting your stay. If nothing pops up on the screen then a fuss will be generated..... As far as packing your bags, and making a phone call... I would recommend just chill and relax, you are really taking it too serious. Instead consentrate on where to stay the next 30 days. You can explore the country. And remember to ask the senior members if you have to report your stay to the immigration office with in 24 hours every time you move from one city to another city or place, as you go along spending the additional 30 days they grant. 30 days extensions are cash cows in Thailand and are processed very rapidly, in hundreds daily. Each extension is worth Bhat 1900 B .

  6. I am just a member like you and with the little knowledge that I have, I would like to say that the hotel will be fined a big sum for not reporting your stay with in 24 hours of your check in. And I imagine that you may also be fined. Since the senior members did not bring this matter, I decided to mention it. I am sure that as your post gets more views, some one will mention it.

  7. In April last year Charliebadenhop posted his retirement visa application process. I followed the same steps and got my one year extension which is due for renewal in April 2020. The extension I am planning to apply in January 2020.  I have the financial part taken care of, a fixed deposit account with 800K sitting in the bank account since April 2019.  Proof of residency. Home address location map image. Photo copies of all passport pages plus any stapled pieces of doc's. Photo copies of all Bank passbook pages.  Letter from Bank vouching the presence of the funds, 800K.  Of course the necessary immigration forms that I would be asked to fill out and complete on the day I arrive at the immigration office.  Did I miss anything. I would like to ask the members of the Forum to please kindly guide me through this process. Thank you all very much for all your help and support I received over the past one year of my stay here in Chiang Mai.

Make a small deposit on the day you apply or the day before.

    Then get the book updated

I appreciate your reply.  So therefore your point and my assumption is that making deposits into a fixed deposit account before maturity date doesn't trigger a loss of interest earned.  If that is true then I have to say that I never ever in my life seen some thing like that in USA Banks. But I may be wrong.

I think you are talking about an extension of stay for retirement not a Visa.

Put your money in a SCB fixed account.

Still not great but up to 1.85% depending on length of deposit.

Hi fishtank, I read in this forum that just before you apply for an extension you have to make a deposit and a withdrawal to prove that the 800K is liquid and accessable anytime during the one year Visa extension period. However if funds are withdrawn from a fixed term deposit account before the maturity date, you loose the entire interest earned, won't this withdraw/deposit of money defeat the whole purpose of holding the funds in an interest bearing account, only to loose the interest earned when a withdrawal is made for Visa renewal process? Thanks

I have a Fixed Term account with Bangkok Bank which auto-renews yearly at 1.5%.

I have never had a problem renewing my Extensions (in Jomtien) and showing a bank book that only has the initial deposit into the account, and the balance update (the day before I go for the renewal).

I have never been told I needed to show "activity" on the account.
They know the difference between a "Fixed Term" and a "Savings" account (though it seems some foreigners can't figure that out - just like they can't figure out the difference between a "Savings" account and a "Chequing" account).
The interest I earn can go into my Savings account automatically if I choose or be rolled over in the Fixed Term account.

On 800,000 baht, you'd earn 12,000 baht in interest minus 2,000 in tax.
That leaves you with 10.000 baht which is more than enough to pay for your yearly Extension as well as a Multi Re-entry permit (5,700 baht total) and leave you enough for a decent night out on the town (or pay your electricity bill for a couple months maybe).

And yes - if you get a Fixed Term deposit at a promotional rate for a set period of time, at the end of that time it will renew at the standard rate. It isn't a "rip-off" just because you didn't check on it or ask about it before hand. I used to do those "Promotional Rate" deposits for years and it has always been like that. Bangkok Bank used to (maybe still does) "promotional" rates on Fixed Term deposits that were usually either 7 month or 11 months in length (not 6 and 12 for some unknown reason). If I wasn't around when the term ended, the interest would be paid and then the balance would get the "standard" interest rate (on 3 month "terms") until I started a new "promotional rate" account.

And that is NO different than "promotional rate" accounts offered in some Western Banks - where you have to maintain a certain amount on deposit, or make regular deposits of at least a certain amount, or you lose the "promotional" rate and get the much lower, "standard" rate. (Yes, I've looked - because I also have money sitting in accounts back home that are not earning a lot.)

    <snipped>

Like I told dear old dad when he came over here 10 years ago. Having the 800k in the bank gives you peace of mind knowing that it's always there for your Extensions, or if you have a medical emergency, or if for some reason you decide to pack up and move back home - you'd have a decent nest egg to tide you over until you are resettled.

(And when he passed on - his Thai "companion" wasn't able to get at that money at all.)

And no - banks are not rubbing their hands together just waiting for you to put the cash in the bank so they can steal it from you. It's not even an urban legend - it's just plain bull**** but some people will grasp onto any excuse for why they can't - er, I mean "won't" - put money in a Thai bank.

There's a far better chance that your "relatives" will steal your money because they know your PIN and you leave your ATM card laying around all the time (but even they couldn't touch a Fixed Term account - you'd have to be there in person to make any changes to it.)

They don't issue ATM cards for Fixed Term accounts (at least not at Bangkok Bank) and even if you have internet banking and have the account listed - you can't make transfers
to/from it (I know - I have that with my accounts. I can check the balance on my Fixed Term account(s), check the interest rate(s), see if an interest payment has been made and that's it.)

Personally - I have the 800k in the Fixed Term account, the bank book is locked in the safe (and only I know the combo) and I forget about until the next time I go do my Extension. The day before I do the Extension I get the bankbook (and my passport) from the safe - go to the bank to update the book and get my Bank Letter, photocopy the pages of the bank book (showing your name and account number and the page showing the latest balance update), put the bank book back in the safe and forget about it for another year. (Though I will glance at the balance when I'm doing some internet banking, to see if the latest interest payment has been made.)

It really doesn't get much easier than that.

I was planning to do exactly what Kerryd mentioned in this post.  After I was stamped a one year extension on my passport, I withdrew 801,000 Bhat and opened a fixed account in Bangkok bank for 12 months.  Expires 25 April 2020.

My extension expires 20 April 2020.

If I followed what Kerryd did in Chiang Mai Immigration office which is not do any withdraw/deposit to my Bangkok bank Fixed deposit account, and apply for extension in 2020 Will Chiang Mai Immigration issue me the extension??.

I read a few replies to the OP by members like Kerryd that said that they never had to do a withdraw/deposit, But they didn't mention the Immigration office they do business with.  Finally if I withdrew a thousand and put back the same on the same day around 9 months into the 12 months Fixed deposit account I will loose the entire interest earned and defeat the whole purpose of opening a fixed deposit account .  What should I do? My extension expires 9 months from now. IMG20190320130748.thumb.jpg.49c90b87aea3ac10302e6f50ec8dc43a.jpg

  12. Thanks all members. I am not sure if the first choice is non dairy loaded with bad stuff and sugar. Soy milk is a great idea. I go to makro every other day but I always looked in the dairy section, now I will look in the cheese section. Thanks again.

You will probably have to pay if you bought straight for a company. You have got a great chance of paying nothing if you have them shipped to a friend and then friend ships them to you. This works with usps from usa but i have no clue what the equivalent would be in australia.

If I buy an Expresso made in Italy in USA that costs 40% more on Lazada have it shipped free to my friend in US and have the freind ship it to me by USPS tracking will I save the 40%. Thanks

  14. Chiang Mai immigration did not tell you to return in 3 months you have nothing to worry about.

They will not ask for your bank book when you do 90 day reports.

The small amount you went below 800k for a few days may not be a problem when you apply for a new extensionnext year.

To Ubonjoe and all senior members who have helped me, a total stranger, with instant answers. All I can say is and believe that Good karma accumulated through good deeds is priceless and invincible. One gets to redeem them even without one's knowledge. Peace & Love.  Living in Thailand and familiar with the religious beliefs here, I am sure everyone knows what I just said, but had to mention it for the record to express how much I appreciate....

  15. So based on what Ubonjoe post of the immigration rule. I am in trouble.  In the sense, when I go back for my 90 day reporting, the immigration may if they wanted to can challenge me to prove the 800 K requirement along with the 90 reporting, And if they do so, they can technically revoke my 2019-2020 April extension because my balance went below 800K on March 26th to April 10th .  But the part that is (debatable) wierd is my extension was from April 16 2019 to April 16 2020.  So where do I stand in a situation like this in the immigration officer point of view. The issue or question is my balance never went down between April 16 2019 and onwards going forward if I keep my balance 800K all the time till 16 April 2020.  I accidentally went below 800K before the time frame of my one year extension.IMG20190320130748.thumb.jpg.49c90b87aea3ac10302e6f50ec8dc43a.jpg

    IMG20190416181008.jpg

  16. It now 2 months before and 3 months after that the 800k baht needs to be in the bank.

Ubonjoe, I am a little bit confused here, I can understand 2 months before, but I am unable to make sense of the 3 months after rule. Why because, after one gets a one year extension stamped on the passport, what difference does it make to have the 800K for 3 months " After "

Is it 3 months after the extension from the prior years extension. Forgive my stupidity for not understanding what was mentioned in the post while everyone seems to have understood. Thanks

  17. Hello members,

I now have a visa good for one year. If you notice, you will see that I got the one year stamp even before the 90 days of the 3 month visa ended (April 16, 2019).   Here is my question, it is march 30th today and I already am at 795,000 Bhat  in my account. I have no plans to bring in  65K every month . My plan was to keep 800K seasoned all the time.  I went below 800K (NOW) since from some strange memory,  I was under the impression that the 800K seasoned has to be shown 3 months before the one year extension request  is made, in my case that would be JANUARY 16, 2020.  My Intention was to never touch the 800K Till April 2020, and draw money from my American bank account monthly as I need. I regret going low to 795K even before the 12 months . First thing after I get a response from the members, I plan on withdrawing enough money to make my bank balance be way more than 800K and never let it go down .  However the question is, did I already break the rule ? ( Seasoned 800K RULE ). Is it too late for me to fix my mistake of going below 800K now ?  Follow up question/explanation.  12 months before April 20 2020 will be April 19 2019 to  April 20 2020. Therefore if I show 800K seasoned between April 19 2019 to April 20 2020 will the immigration accept that as a check mark for proof of income to get a one year extension ?  If that scenario is possible then I still have time to get my bank balance topped up to 800K by April 20 2019. I do understand that I have to do a 90 day check in every 90 days for which I am hoping that I don't have to do an income verification process, expect for the tail end of my last 90 day stay before the one year extension expires,  correct me please if I am wrong here in my assumptions. Thanks again for all your help and assistance.IMG20190320130748.thumb.jpg.49c90b87aea3ac10302e6f50ec8dc43a.jpg
