For a cheap option there's OWNDAYS Japanese brand shop in Central Marina and Terminal 21, they have only their own frame but at fixed price, you shop around for the frame where there's price displayed for a couple of lens option like high index, transition and even progressive or tinted and that's all the price you pay, around 2-3,000 baht and they take you for the eye test,

The appeal is that the price sticker is clearly displayed when browsing, including all the lens option and no need to upsell you to more expensive lenses after the eye exam.

then you pay and they make the lens while you wait, around 30- 45 minutes, you can come back and pick up later while you walk around the mall, no need for weeks of waiting for lens, they always have the lens in stock.

Compared to ubiquitous Top Charoen, the staff operating the eye exam is probably slightly better trained, but the stock of lens and the style of frames offered for the price all under 4000 baht is appealing and with the fixed price concept, going to get a new glasses can be intimidating when you have a budget but the shop insist that you must have this lens and they only have stock of that lens can balloon into very expensive affair

If you're used to expensive glasses and prescription, it doesn't compare of course, but it's good for taking the kids or girlfriend

Owndays prices are just ridiculous compared to the only honest shop in Thailand, First optic.

Owndays frames are $1 frames that even Chinese people do not want to wear.

Owndays are perfectly ridiculous, and it's very easy to understand for anybody not totally insane.

I had thought from the headline it was an English person being arrested rather than an English teacher, whose nationality still remains a mystery. He definitely had some balls though, running this operation just round the corner from Narcotics Suppression HQ, and got away with it for 2-3 years apparently.

Nice point ! This is the problem with criminals, they never know when to stop.

I hope that he made enough money and was able to save it to make his life better for the next years...

Sad when anybody working in a garden get caught !

The park rangers get people coming off speed boats as well now, I think the park fee is 200 baht now. If you really want to avoid the fee and don't have much luggage then walk from Nadan pier and go off to the left and bypass the park entrance .......

yes walking on the left always works.

Remember that once you replace 1 you should replace the tire in parallel. Having been through the hassles of run flats on my  previous vehicle, I sympathize. Which manufacturer? One has the option of selecting Pirelli, Michelin, Continental etc.

Another stupid "fact" that has been repeated to me, but I have been driving 10000+ kms with conventional and run flat without any problem. So why people keep repeating something that has no meaning ?

Yes, the tire will be replaced and paid for by the insurance company but since this probably will happen regularly I want to look at what options I have since this is a huge pain in the rear.

Me and my car are now stranded 250 km away from Pattaya waiting for a flatbed to bring us back.

why a flatbed, I have been driving 150 kms with a cracked run flat. No problem, this is what they are made for. You are weird.

  6. It also happened to me on a E-class. Nothing to do with the cars, it's just about run flats !

But still, I will never be stupid enough to use the standard tires. I don't want to look like a laborer trying to change a wheel on the side road.

Run flats have pro and cons, but for me, safety is more important than comfort.

Not sure where you got this information. On several years I've headed out of Bangkok to Pattaya a day or two before NYE and returned a couple of days after new year, never recall any major traffic issues. All the regular workplace traffic is absent as it's a holiday, so getting out of the city is faster than usual. There'd probably be longer queues at the bus station - this occurs at most long weekends in the year when there's a national holiday, but the road traffic isn't especially worse than usual. If people were heading back home for the holidays, it wouldn't be the Pattaya route that was busy, but the routes out of the city heading North and North East. This is even true ahead of Songkran, the mega traffic jams are on other routes.

Roads to Pattaya were already over crowded today on 30th, and it will be worst tomorrow 31st. It is the same situation every year. It seems that you are not living on the same planet.
