  1. Hello all. I'm planning on taking the train-boat-transfer (Surat Thani train station to ferry pier) from Bangkok to Koh Phangan next month.

I've been looking online and so far can't find any details of the complete package (can only find Bkk - Surat train and ferry from Surat - KPG details/prices).

I'm aware of the train now goes from Bang Sue train terminal.

Does anyone know how/where I can book the complete package?

  2. Hello all

I need some help / clarification:

I'm now coming towards the end of my second waiver.. My school are processing my papers for my visa/waiver renewal at the end of October.  They are now asking me to submit papers / documentation for a university qualification i finished earlier this year.

I don't have some of the documentation and i'm having to ask the university to send it.  It has to be sent/unopened by post. I don't have much time left.

As far as i'm aware i didn't need to submit further documentation until i'm nearing the end of my fourth waiver/applying for a teachers licence.

Please can anyone verify which is correct.

Any advice/feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  3. Thanks all for your responses. It's my 4th school, have been here 3 years and yes i am looking for a new school.

In all my previous schools kindergarten classes had 1 teacher and 1 assistant teacher.  There is definite bitterness/jealousy towards NES.  The head teacher is aware but can do nothing (re. the recent incident) he was told by the management to tell the NES teacher Thai teachers don't help foreign teachers. The only potential way would be to speak to the owners who are now impossible to contact.

I just think there are massive health and safety concerns, particularly with Kindergarten and P1 students.

  4. Hello i'm seeking advice about support issues at my (private) school which refuses to give their foreign language teachers (FLT) in-class support.

The school management has told all homeroom teachers to leave the classrooms once the FLT enters for their lesson. This includes kindergarten classrooms.

Recently there was an issue when an FLT was left alone with a kindergarten class (some of the children were still eating lunch) and made a complaint which led to being told firmly that 'Thai teachers do not help foreign teachers'.

I am very worried about the health and safety issues within this context for both students and teachers. Surely the homeroom teachers should stay with their class, monitoring and assisting when needed. In my previous schools there was always one homeroom teacher and one assistant with younger learners. I would like to know if, legally, there should be at least one or two homeroom teachers in the classroom at all times. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Believe you mean Sattahip Navy Hospital (that is a Navy town) which indeed is considered to have good doctors (but perhaps not too much experience with older men as younger).  Believe they have a higher price for foreigners now so perhaps more expensive than normal government hospital service.  Suspect contact has to be in person as for any government facility but others can likely provide details.

    thanks for that

  6. Hello I live in Pattaya. I have been getting slight pains down my left lower abdomen/scrotum and need to get them checked out.

I am guessing the check up process will be followed by treatment. I don't have a lot of money saved so I want to go to a hospital that doesn't not charge extortionate prices.

I have been told to go to government hospitals outside Pattaya. I have been recommended to Sattahip Navy Hospital but I do not know how to contact them.

Any feedback/advice would be greatly appreciated.
