Expat Paradox -- Retirement withdrawal levels with no legacy needed
I'm in a similar situation and so I developed some code in R to calculate a maximum amount you could spend monthly. You input some variables, like income from pension and/or stocks, when you think you'll die and some other stuff. You'd have to install R but it runs fairly easily. Let me know if you want it.

What Books Are You Reading ? (2025)
Read Orwell's Burmese Days. Good stuff. I also just finished Burgess's Malayan Trilogy. Time for a Tiger is wonderful.

Entering Malaysia via a land border with Thailand
I entered Malaysia via Pedang Besar last week. Immigration for non-malaysians is the same as it has ever been. No autogates, you go to Thai immigration, then Malaysian. And make sure you fill out the MDAC beforehand.

Important change to Extension of Temporary stay requirement !
I'm going to be doing my extension this week and I am wondering which pages or info from the TM30 do they want? I did this last year, but can't seem to find the documents I filled out. My wife filled out the TM30 2 years ago and so it has been approved, but do I add myself with the 'Add' button? And if so, what is my check in date? Do I just put I have stayed there the past year? As I'm tying this, I realize that this appears a bit dumb, but well, better dumb than going back and forth to the IO office. thanks,

CalPERS PERS Platinum – Anyone in Thailand having claims denied?
I'm in a similar situation. I'm covered by my University of CA PPO plan by Anthem. It is world wide and covers everything, though I have a high deductible. Hopefully it doesn't go the way of what happened to the original poster. And it covers non-emergency stuff as well.

Switching from US based Netflix to Thai
Greetings, I started a netflix account back in the US back in 2013 but I now live in Thailand. Is there any downside to ditching the current US Netflix account and redoing a new one here in Thailand? It appears to be cheaper. Thanks,

Etiquette at CW immigration
To do my agent-less extension I had to exit Thailand as DrJack mentions above. I used an agent for the 1st time, but then tried to do it myself and was told to leave and restart the process, which is what I did and it worked fine. I'm quite curious to see if you have to do the same thing.

I've just finished a one year contract with True for internet. Do we return the router/modem when we end the contract? Thanks,

Living the Thai life: Kingdom rolls out red carpet for big spenders
That happened to me when I was recently flying out of Surabaya. A gov't person interviewed me with those type of questions.

Changing from agent to doing annual extensions myself?!
That was not the case for me in Samut Prakan immigration. The officer insisted I redo the whole visa and said the one I obtained via the Pattaya agent was no good. I was told I had to leave the country and redo it. I went to Cambodia and I did as she said. And I did have over 800K in the bank for a year.
