American wants to marry a Thai national. What are the legal steps
I am in the process of doing this. In addition to checking the US embassy website you need to get the list of requirements from the Amphur District Office. This list may vary from office to office. Here is the list from the Bang Rak office in Bangkok. Once you have the documents you will need to book an appointment which may be a couple of months later.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
After I got my LTR I saw people post experiences like this. That is why I specifically asked them this question. However, it may depend on what time of the year you apply and how far away from your last tax return. It may also depend on the source of your passive income. My income is one work pension. If you have more complicated passive income sources then they may want to look at more documents.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
This question about the timing of the income must have come up 4x and I remember one of the questioners mentioning interpretation of the Royal Decree. The answer kept come back the same. You don't pay tax or file a return. My tax advisor also told be that I don't have to file a return. All I can do is tell you what this guy from the Revenue Department said. I also gave everyone his name.

How long to get your Certificate of Residency from your IO?
I renewed my drivers license last year at the Bangkok, Bang Chak DLT office. I got my certificate of residency from the Immigration office in One Bangkok. I arrived at 11:45 and they told me to pick it up after lunch, which I did. I was surprised at the 1 hour turnaround. I'm not sure if it was because I have an LTR visa or just a general policy with Immigration. My last certificate of residency was from the US embassy. I think I was about the last person to get one from the embassy before they discontinued that service.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
I just asked the BOI how many years of tax returns do I need to submit to verify my passive income for the 5 year extension. Their answer: “Under the current criteria for the Wealthy Pensioner category, we only require one year of passive income evidence. This means you only need to provide your tax return from the previous year.” This is the same as when I originally applied in October, 2022.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
The only difference from the 5 year extension will be paying the 50,000฿ fee again. However, it was a bit ridiculous for people to insist that nothing change forevermore and that they pass another royal decree to that effect. I was beginning to roll my eyes at some of the questions.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
When I originally applied in October 2022 I was only asked for one year of my tax return. Later I saw comments from people saying they requested 2 years. I am not expecting them to ask for more than this but I will ask. They suggested we connect with them on LINE to ask questions.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
BOI LTR community meeting Wealthy Pensioner LTR tax obligation - we do not have to file a tax return for any money remitted to Thailand. There are no time restrictions on the money. You could have earned it 5 years ago or yesterday. From the powerpoint slide - “If the LTR Visa holder has no domestic-sourced income apart from foreign-sourced income remitted into Thailand, no Personal Income Tax return filing is required.” This question was asked and answered the same about 5x 5 Year Extension - there will be a 5 month window to extend the visa. 3 months before and 2 months after. Wealthy Pensioner LTR extension - Financial requirements are the same at five years. I don’t know if they want tax returns/bank statements back 1, 2, or more years. I have to contact them on that question. The presenter on tax issues was Kasapon Singprasertate Windows Senior Tax Economist The Revenue Department, Thailand

BKK Bank account - Never used & will never use - Close or leave it?
I would advise that you have two bank accounts in Thailand since problems can arise at any of the banks. I have a Bangkok Bank account because my Kasikorn account got hacked. Bangkok Bank is my primary account but I recently opened a new Kasikorn bank account as a backup. When I closed my first Kasikorn account there were no problems. It took about 10 minutes. I wouldn't worry about going into Bangkok Bank and closing the account. I personally wouldn't want to have an unused account in my name out there.

The bank letter can be obtained 7 days ahead of time. The bankbook can be updated at a machine whether the bank is open or not.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
I got my LTR in January,2023, and I did get the email. The meeting is real. I signed up for the meeting and mistakenly went to One Bangkok yesterday. The BOI pointed out that the meeting is on the 19th. Registration is closed.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
The other day I entered Thailand and filled out the TDAC. The TDAC asks for your visa number. I looked at the visa stamp and entered what I thought was the number but I really have no idea. At the top of the stamp in the rectangular box is says NO 010 / 66 That didn't seem right. Below the rectangular box is a stamp with ที นร /1325 / ก / ลง (and a string of numbers) Anyone have an idea what our LTR visa number is? I also didn't see it in any of the LTR application letters.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
My work pension is a little over $80k and qualified me for my LTR. I was a mid-level engineering manager at a Dept of Energy laboratory operated by the University of California, Berkeley. That was back in 2011. I worked for UC Berkeley for 30 years. I always thought that anyone of my generation who was professional and/or a manager and stuck with a large employer could easily enjoy a pension of $80k+, especially if they add Social Security to that. Of course, the subset of those people who want to retire in Thailand is probably very very small.

Wealthy pensioner visa
Sorry, I don’t know

Wealthy pensioner visa
I have the pensioner LTR. The requirement is $80,000/yr passive income and they will ask for a tax return for the previous year or two. If you don't have pension income of $80,000/yr then they will ask for documents concerning what you think is passive income. You mentioned the OA. I had one of those too. I would recommend that you pursue an O visa rather than an OA. The OA has a health insurance requirement. Otherwise the O and OA have identical requirements for a 1 year extension. There is no need for your visa and health insurance be tied together. Having said that, note that the LTR also has an insurance requirement.

First extension with new passport
If you have your old passport then just bring it. It costs you nothing. I suppose you could photocopy the pages or not. You are not penalized for bringing more than you need. If it is easy to do then just do it.
