If you thought that was a groaner, read on ...
A scientist is driving along the highway, and sees a rabbit lying on the road after it had just been run over. He stops to check it out.
Since he just happens to be researching a formula to bring dead things back to life. He takes a can of his formula over to the dead rabbit, and sprays it on the rabbit. Nothing happens.
He heads back to his car, grabs another can from the glove box, and again sprays the rabbit. The rabbit quickly comes back to life, somewhat stunned but alive nonetheless.
It starts hopping away, then stops and waves at the scientist, hops a few feet, stops and waves. It keeps hopping and waving until it disappears into the bushes.
The scientist is puzzled as to why the first can failed but the second worked. He looks at the label…
"HAIR RESTORER - With Permanent Wave"
A good joke.

Interesting, very interesting. Do university professors beat their wife? I know Louis Armstrong did though he was just a jazz player and singer not in education business.
I met quite a few British who are in education profession, they all seem very mild and soft people. Some are soft spoken too. I still think they are wonderful people to have conversations with.

Hello there,
Instead of answering your questions using the format you suggested I will just say what's on my mind in relation to the problems you have with Thai Language.
First I think your problem is not enough of listening. You need to listen to the spoken language by that I mean many many hours. In fact if possible be in the environment where people speak Thai all the time.
Do not write anything or practice writing the script yet. You may write the pronounciation down if you tend to forget (that's in romanized alphabet) the word.
Do not read , yes, no reading.
All the writing and reading come later when you are ready. Reading and writing will slow you down your understanding the spoken language. You will find you couldn't understand well the spoken language and as a result you couldn't speak it well.
Listen, listen, listen,(many many hours) understand and then speak. Forget the writing and reading for the time being.
I am not a linguist or lecturer in university but I have gone through the experience you are having. I studied Japanese and made the mistake by learning writing and reading then found the problem with understanding spoken Japanese and couldn't speak it well. It took me another 4 years to correct that and now about 80 percent better.
Anxiety and desire to master the language fast is very bad for learning foreign languages. If you are relaxed and don't take it too seriously it would help a lot.
Good luck to you. Please google - Stephen Krashen on Learning foreign language. After you understood what he said you will improve tremendously.
Why children learn fast because they don't write and read and they have no anxiety. When they made mistakes they laugh about it. See what I mean. You need to be in that frame of mind.

Same story with me except that it is not Thai language that I fell to learn (I have no problem with Thai language) for me it is Maths and Music.
In my late 40s I had too much time so try to learn music that's when I found that I couldn't read notes no matter how hard I tried and my phrasing and timing were bad. My music teacher looked at me in a strange way.. He probably thought I was too old to learn music. I finally gave up after couple of years. I have a Renaissance Lute in my room and a classical guitar too.
Our brains are wired in different ways. I need a brain transplant if only I could appear in this world say 50 to 80 years later I could get a brain transplant. That would be fun.

A good and honest post.
I would say the Thai Government is not "at arms length" so much as having "their hands in your pocket." ????
The Thai economy is not doing to well, so what do they do here, extort money out of farang, en masse.
I expect things to be worse after the election, as an illegitimate Government arranges its own legitimacy, then anything is possible.
I would like to say what you wrote are nearest to the truth.
I am looking a forum where there is no hold-bar, you can use 4 letters words, criticize the government, just say what is on your mind. If you come across such wonderful forum please let me know, I am often on this forum . Beatriz(a man masquerading as a french woman).

Couples of times I read something like that not exactly the same but being threatened or being told something unpleasant might happened to him. However if you need some advice you must state clearly what actually happened otherwise you leave people who wish to help you in a puzzle.
There are some questions on my mind so I cannot answer your post until I get these answers from you. Giving you suggestions and not knowing the real situation may cause harm to you.
Anyway good luck and take care.

I have always been told mushrooms have no nutrition other than trace minerals. SAD.
Yeah you probably right on the nutrition aspect but the consumers(whoever they are) are interested in the taste not nutrition and these consumers are overfed pigs with lots of money to buy the most expensive mushrooms you have that is the reason the farmers are keen on growing them. I am not sure but I guess for every kilo of mushrooms they get more money than other agricultural products.

This one escape from the slaughter house. I wish to open a special school(by word of mouth) to teach the Thai ladies the "Kamasutra" things, the techniques so to speak then the farangs will never be able to escape.
Not only techniques in bed also to understand the social etiquette(so important) that will raise their standards and also value.
“Sau Thai pai reung rian" (thai ladies go to school).

My experience and observations are that most Thais are pack rats....they live in small but cluttered spaces.
Oh no, please don't say such bad things about them. They are poor you know. When you are caught in the poverty spiral it spirals downward. It drags you down all the time.

I see the policeman(or is he security guard) standing on the bed? Are those orgasmic juice stains on the mattress? That mattress had been used often from the look of it. Hmm......... Buddha said, " The unwholesome relentless pursuit of sexual pleasure will lead to suffering". Buddha prohibited his disciples from engaging in sex because sex interfered with the attainment of enlightenment not because it is bad or dirty.
At 50 some still look good and very skillful... otherwise this wouldn't have happened right?
Could we get to see the photo of the 50 year old lady please.

I’m simply guessing here but I think she must have a really big pair of tits.
Also concerning is the fact that the husband had a knife handy walking into his own bathroom! I’m guessing all Thai men walk around tooled up to start knife or gun fights at a moments notice?
I guess the one without the knife must be good at self defence against knife attack, because he managed to disarmed the knife from the attacker in spite of being fatally wounded when he was stabbed. The he stabbed the attacker so eventually both died. Isn't that was what happened? Can't be other ways both died.

yes, of course I still love the Thai warts and all... and if I met you out one night, I might enjoy your company too... I hope you are not as hate filled as some of the things in your posts... and yes, I speak Thai too... if you are talking in a religious sense, I am not likely to become enlightened. I do know in my own simple way, love feels better than hate, kindness feels better than meanness, and jealousy is an interesting subject. It is nothing but pain for all involved and yet I wonder if it is inborn or not... I see children with it... if I have any enlightenment, it is to suppress the negative emotions in myself and try and proceed happily through the time I have... much as i see Thai do.
So I guess you have been in Thailand for far too long, completely assimilated by the Thais culture. I became very interested in Thai culture and Thai people because I was disappointed with my own country and culture even from childhood. So I look outward to other culture and like an orphan I long to be adopted by good foster parents. At first I became very interested in Japanese culture went to Tokyo and studied the language there and later worked for Japanese company for quite a few years. Then I became disillusioned by the Japanese and I looked towards Thailand like an orphan going from one foster parent to another.
I am not residing in Thailand now but in the country next door. I hope to write a small book called "The Tyranny of the English Language" which I believe will sell very well in France because my book will put the French language in its rightful place in the sun. The English language has pushed many dialects and languages to the edge of this world, some have disappeared all together however not many people knew about this. The Tyranny of the English Language will tell you how today in many third world countries they cannot do without the English language if they wish to progress well. So the French Language which is a beautiful language would be deprived of its rightful place in the sun. I speak reasonably fluent in French. (more or less middle level). Not just good enough to order drinks in Paris.
I wonder who you are and what you do in Thailand(my adopted country). Beatriz is my nick name I am a man masquerading as a french woman, so I must be a little sick, don't you think so?
If you google youtube "Beatriz de Dia" you will hear a beautiful song sang in catalan.

How truly kind of you... so, ok, they should learn from your bashing... and bashing it was...
yes, that shows sensitivity... you point out their faults and want them to be thankful to you... who do you think you are? The ultimate judge?
yes, of course, you feel it in yourself, you see it in others.. if you want to go down the road of semantics... and it is a pretty human characteristic.. most people will feel it at some points in their life.
But, it seems your boasting of all your learned resume, you might want to consider kindness as a good thing... Thai don't seem to have your need to point out everyone's faults. But, you are wondering, where would the world be without you to point out all of our faults... happier maybe? less confrontational?
Just don't fool yourself by bashing and think that saying it is not bashing makes it so...
goodbye and get over it...
Don't just say goodbye yet, thank you for your wonderful comments Kenk24. Oh, by the way when you become enlighten you will understand.
Some Thais asked me why I learned to speak Thai I said, "Rak meung Thai" they bursted out laughing. Thais love to hear a good joke. Then I said in Thai style English, "You don't know I laf Thailand erh?" " Oi,Khun mai loo arai na"( oh,you don't know anything).
The Thais with all their faults , warts and everything you still love them, don't you?

This is what police say.
I'm not sure at all whether it's true or not. Here in this land of happiness they say:
Honesty is hard to come by,
Falsehood is trade like a commodity
Someone once told me "Honesty is only for those who can afford it"
If you are very rich could you really afford to be honest in your tax return in this land of happiness.

If you are popular, then by definition, you will be liked... I have been living for the last 20 years in rural Thailand and really don't see that much jealousy, not much more than anywhere else really...
Saying you are not talking bad about Thais, even though you are talking bad about Thais, [inborn trait] does not make it not talking badly. Quite simply, you are bashing...
If you think what I said is bashing then you ain't seen nothing yet. I see many good things in Thai characters, I love Thailand and its people otherwise I wouldn't go there and even spend time as a novice in temple . Read the Abhidharma books(higher learning in buddhist dharma called Abhidharma). I also took Vipassana course in Wat Po.
Kenk24 you don't see Jealousy you feel it. Perhaps you are not sensitive enough. When I said they will be jealousy of your success I refer to those thais who wanted also to do the same business in Yoga, not the entire thai society become jealous of her success in Yoga teaching.
When I see something bad I will say it as it is regardless if it hurts someone. The ultimate reality is what I am interested in not people's feeling. If Thai people has a jealousy inborn trait then they should know it and correct it. If Farangs or whatever race or color have bad inborn trait then I would point it out to them not only Thais, is that ok with you Kenk24?
Yes, I will tell my good Thai friends that they have inborn trait of Jealousy, some even with really bad strong jealousy (a very negative form of energy) zooing out of them especially the women folks. They may not like what I say but they should be thankful to me for telling them the ultimate truth. There is no hesitation on my part. I expect the same thing being said to me in any of my character flaws. Good Day

I care about her bra strap being broken "Aussieroaming". It's not useless reporters. Why ?Because there must be reason for bra strap being broken. Was she alone in the car? It's good to have details in minute.

You could run into a huge amount of trouble even if you wanted to do it for free. So, imagine a for profit business. You have got to look at it from the Thai perspective, you would be filling a void that they would rather have a Thai fill.
I was under the impression most foreigner run businesses here are set up under a Thai spouse's name. If you are not in that situation I am not even sure of the first step to be honest.
You are right in every aspect. On the top of that if you are popular as a yoga teacher there will be lots of jealousy among the Thais I am not talking bad things about Thais it is their inborn trait. And they camouflage their jealousy. You will find out one day what I just said. Good day and take care .

Yeah, I believe what you said would more or less be accurate. I feel that they just want to take advantage of foreigners but they will do it without being too obvious.
