  1. Yes, some members count the person taking the photo and declare the mall, "rammed." ????
  2. Perhaps why gentleman's clubs have gained in popularity, over open air bars, in recent times. I don't mind paying a bit extra for a/c, no dust, no motorbike noise, no mosquitos, no hawkers, no beggars etc, and a little privacy.
  3. Thai's that buy holiday homes my prop up the housing market, but aren't here enough to contribute to the local economy too much. Whilst the sex trade in Jomtien is limited, Jomtien is in close proximity to Pattaya, which has a huge sex trade. Once again, do you think it's actually Jomtien Beach that attracts people to Jomtien? That is, the sand, and the water? If so, what puts Jomtien Beach ahead of other beaches in Thailand, and in the region?
  4. 'A shot" no problem. What about 5 shots, or four a year, every year, at your own expense?
  5. What is the criteria for, "ok?" Does Jomtien Beach attract high net worth individuals? Why would a high net worth individual chose Jomtien Beach over many other nicer beaches? Could it be the sex trade? It's fine to say "Jomtien is OK" but ok to whom, and for what?
  6. This case got a lot of media attention a few years ago. They had to let the Chinese know that Thai authorities like to drink a lot of "tea." https://thethaiger.com/news/phuket/Tranlee-Travel-assets-seized-Phuket-Phang-Nga-raids Here's a few quotes: "Three teams of police simultaneously seized 33 boats and 57 buses in Phuket yesterday." “Six of the 17 companies operating under the Tranlee Travel umbrella have been ordered to shut down while they are investigated,” said the national police chief, who vowed to continue hunting down ‘nominee’ companies, no matter how big they were." "Searches of Tranlee Travel properties have turned up hundreds of millions of baht worth of assets. 117 buses, 35 boats and three plots of land,” said Gen Srivara." "Investigations into the 330-room Blue Bay Resort in Phang Nga revealed that permission was given for the property to have only 76 rooms. Working there illegally were 21 tour guides and some of the staff were inappropriately dressed, said the general." Boats, buses, resorts, illegal workers, nominees. Of course, even pre covid this had all been stamped out in Thai and no longer existed. ????
  7. After what number shot will covid stop being a threat to an individual?
  8. You have contradicted yourself. No one should be above the law, but Thailand is a terribly corrupt country, and justice, as well as life, is measured in baht here. So one drug gang has a shootout with another drug gang, in a public public, and an innocent child is shot and killed. That's why you can't allow scum to kill other scum, because innocent people are caught in the crossfire.
  9. OP, we are all going to catch it at some stage, most likely more than once. Perhaps many of us have already had it, without really knowing it. Depending on where you live in Thailand, maybe it would be better to catch it in Pattaya.
  10. What was their claim for the 3rd shot? What was their claim for the 2nd shot? What was their claim for the 1st shot? What will be their claim for the 5th shot? ???? ????
  11. Yes, you can be killed over 1 baht here. Sure, but sometimes that is staged, in order to "justify" an assault and / or robbery upon a victim.
  12. Some Thai banks have been downgraded. It's possible those Thai banks actually bank with the other Thai banks, so the risk is not contained. The safest bank for your extension money is back in your home country, and you pay an agent. With covid coming to an end, we will soon start to see the long term financial effects of covid on Thailand. I doubt the Thai government will bail out Thai banks? https://www.nationthailand.com/business/40013693
  13. Just one of many recent media articles on the matter. https://www.pattayamail.com/thailandnews/50000-100000-new-covid-cases-possible-by-songkran-festival-in-april-says-health-ministry-391354
  14. Of course, all these corruption expenses, as well as ridiculous rents, are passed onto the customer. They will push it as far as what the business owner is able to pay, and the customer is willing to pay. Once they cross that threshold, difficult to get tourists back.
  15. Who knows, maybe it will get done properly this time and the secretary will run for Mayor. ????
  16. Would you say the same if he died from his beating? Since when is it ok for anyone to take the law into their own hands and play judge, jury, and sometimes, executioner?
  17. Yet, strangely, they are the ones not getting scammed and beaten up. ????
  18. The bottleneck is not an issue, because you have just been served your beer, so you will be hanging around anyway. As for the server and extra trips..........????
  19. Is that baht, or age, because only one matters here, and it's not age. ????
  20. Would that be like Russian tourists sitting on their hotel balcony drinking a bottle of vodka? ???? I have always said Thailand needs Special Economic Zones, where the sex industry, and possibly casinos, can operate, and they are not near beaches or family orientated tourist activities. This way, they get the money from both types of tourists. Is "delightful" lucrative to Thailand? For every monger that pays 1000 baht for an hour, that money is spread in the Pattaya economy, and the Issan economy. Is it not?
  21. Do try to keep up. Did I mention Russians in my post? 1) No, it's just an internet forum for discussion. 2) The Thai authorities tried, and failed. Remember the crackdown on using Thai nominees in Chinese run businesses, and zero baht tourism? 3) No, I couldn't care less, but that doesn't change the facts. As I have said before, I am here for the sun, sea, sand, seafood, suds, and snatch. I am not here to fall in love with a Thai prostitute and adopt her extended Thai family, buying assets that I can not have in my name along the way. That, is "up to me" not "up to them."
  22. No need to resort to a personal attack, even though I couldn't care less. I have nothing against Russians. Simply stating, a poor beach attracts poor tourists, unless they are coming for some other reason. How are your photos of a nice beach relevant to this discussion? I have said Thailand has nice beaches, but in my opinion, Pattaya and Jomtien Beaches are not two of them. Are you saying they are nice?
