  1. But we are not talking about just the guests at your favourite Jomtien getaway, are we? That's a small control group, or do you think they are indicative of the wider tourism numbers?
  2. Yeah, you do. You comment is your opinion. You have no evidence to back it up. To Pattaya???? You keep calling them tourists. They are not. Just by their physical presence there is an element of supporting the local economy, just the same way an expat does, but it's no where near what you are suggesting.
  3. Turn the air conditioner on. Nothing worse than sweaty cheese. ????
  4. I posted over a year ago he would either have to drop the asking price significantly, to the point of break even, or even sell at a loss, or, raise his prices. He's done both, serval times. It will eventually sell. Just interested to see when it meets the market, if it ever does.
  5. Who was it doing well with, pre covid? Indians in nightclubs sitting on one beer for hours while trying to talk the freelancers down on price? The Chinese walking up and down spectating? A few well known gogo's were doing ok, but Walking Street was falling out of favour. Most likely because of its price point, due to ridiculous rents. If Walking Street was going so well, while the big rise in popularity in the Soi Baukhao / Tree Town area?
  6. It was For Sale even while it was being built, that's because the owner was suffering from ill health, even before he started to build it. ????
  7. Ok, so why are you counting them as tourists? Do you think these Fly In / Fly Out Chinese daigou hit the tourists sites where they are simply here working? They support retail, not tourism and hospitality. I know Thai immigration don't care. Pattaya has something for everyone, but neither Pattaya Beach or Jomtien Beach are nice beaches, so I gather tourists also come here for other reasons, like you suggested, the sex trade being one of them. Do you have a link to support this claim? That is, repeat tourists, not repeat workers. (diagou) When the Chinese masses come back, the transition from catering for westerners to catering for Chinese with start back up again.
  8. It hasn't always been the staff. Sometimes, the hotel owner has stolen the guest's valuables.
  9. Probably the people that ensure it costs the business owner more to pay them off, than any possible profits that can be made from actually selling booze.
  10. Extra water is now needed because of the thirst generated by all the children using the new play ground. ????
  11. The repairs cost 10k, if that. The other 90k went to the "vote for me payment" that is to be spread among the voter base on Koh Larn.
  12. Why would a Chinese tourist "repeat" to come back to Pattaya / Thailand? Is your girlfriend a good example of your typical Chinese tourists? So they are in Thailand working, and not really tourists. How do these Chinese "diagou" support tourist orientated establishments?
  13. The Thai landlords didn't offer covid rent discounts out of kindness, or a an understanding of reality. I am sure they were laughing at farang willing to pay them, albeit, at a discounted rate, for them to maintain their property, rather than it sitting going derelict, requiring the Thai landlord to pay for repairs in preparation for the next tenant. All the while, the clock is still running down on their lease. Basically, farang business owners were paying Thai landlords for the privilege of being a caretaker for their property. At least they had somewhere for their youtube live streams. ????
  14. Same old story. The Chinese simply set up a cosmetics and dried fruit and nut business, employing 300 baht a day Thai's. The Chinese tour operators are paid a commission to bring the Chinese tour groups to the Chinese owned establishments, and the profits are repatriated back to China. All Thailand can boast about is the numbers flying in, whilst the profits are flying out.
  15. When will Pattaya's No. 1 farang restaurant meet the market, or the market meets Pattaya's No. 1 farang restaurant? https://www.bahtsold.com/view/pattaya-s-number-1-farang-restaurant-is-for-sale--387708
  16. The problem is, the definition of "fully vaxxed" is different for different countries, and keeps changing. Your definition of fully vaxxed, may not be what another country accepts as fully vaxxed.
  17. He's reporting on an area that was becoming less relevant to Pattaya's nightlife, even pre covid. As Pattaya emerges from covid, the only significance Walking Street will have to Pattaya's nightlife will be a historic one.
  18. There's nothing like a crumbly cheese to wreck a party. ????
  19. Probably because some (many) people will never get the opportunity to see, let alone actually get on a race track, so they will never know the difference.
  20. Say you were in a bar tomorrow, and the bill came out with a drink or two on it that you definitely know you didn't order, and the staff stood their ground when you questioned it. How would you handle the situation?
