Yesterday given quote of 14,000 baht at a High Street clinic for root canal, post and crown. Thai Mrs went ballistic and wants me to have an extraction. Any members with experience of this? Is the quote reasonable? Could the dentist's at our local hospital perform this work? Thanks in advance.

You mean like ‘Grab’ - GrabBike...

This works in Bangkok - I’m not sure if they have it in Pattaya.

like this. every taxi guy should have similar application on his phone, should be mandatory to have a license. now i pay 40 for 2km which is not big deal, but if i need go more than that like 5km it instantly becomes 150 which they go down to 120 after bargaining which is still too much, and i dont like to bargain with them.

I think if you think of the minimum fare as covering around 2km and then add 10 baht for each km or thereabouts, you won't be far out..

The above in 2016 was the countrywide mandated fare

real prices about 2.5x and they overcharge thais as well.

They should do application for motorbike taxis, everyone has smartphones with gps now, just type where you want to go, app finds the distance and calculates fare. problem solved.

I agree the punishment seems to be very harsh, but these are two experienced divers that have been living out here for several years. So, do you think they are going to be forgiven for an apology when they must have known what the consequences would be for their own actions? If it was some tourists that didn't know better, then  i'm sure an apology would have been accepted.

then it obvious they knew about punishment so they wont do that unless they were sure what they are doing is okey because only 60% is considered protected so logic dictates they were in other 40%

  5. i dont think this is "Shocking Pink" since it is not pink. probably harmless. Can ask on 9gag.com , something like "A new human killer millipede species was discovered in thailand" and soon there will be 100s of experts to prove you are wrong ???? with facts

  6. Ultracet contains tramadol which is very nasty drug when used for long time. Its an opiate with all the sides of effects specific to opiates, its very addictive and more often than not may lead to digestive tract (affects sphincters responsible for bile and digestive juices release) and neurological disorders which may not be reversible. Talking from personal experience, dont take it.

What if you wasted 50bht with every purchase you made in your life?

I drive a bit further (200m) to save 4bht on a bottle of wine cooler.

    That's 12bht a day = 360bht a month (or another 12 wine coolers).

There are those who are foolish with money and those that are careful.

Nice if you're so wealthy that it doesn't matter, but most of us don't have that advantage in life.

I find those who do the 'farang pub' particularly foolish.

Small beer 140bht Vs 'Thai pub' large beer 80bht.

    Why?

Is the company of white pensioners and 70s rock music so important to you?

I prefer the company of the Thai university beer girls, as well as the cheaper beer.

But to be honest, now I'm older the 50bht large beers (28bht wine coolers) in my home is more comfortable for me.

I would be worried about liver(3 bottles of wine cooler everyday??) instead of 4 baht

Because i stand my ground and refuse to be treated like a mug.

the 50 baht is not the point , it was the attitude of the manager.

    did read my post properly?

I used to be like you, creating a drama when i feel scammed even if it was even couple of baht. Nothing good comes of it and i regret it very much. now i am like whatever and people like me more.

I suspect a large part of your difficilty is that you have made a self diagnosis and have trouble getting a doctor to agree with it.

Changing doctors is not likely to help.

i noticed that many of doctors especially here in thailand, does not want or dont feel motivated to work with cases somewhat out of the way. "Ultrasound fine? Endo fine? Well then i dont know, whats your problem, probably your imagination". While quick search on google shows many uncommon conditions that may manifistate itself with similar symptoms, but doctor never tried to pursue further.

Prof. Varocha Mahachai. Bangkok Hospital and can also be seen once or twice a week at RSU Health Digestive clinic

My experience was pretty bad with this doctor, a lot of needless tests and in result "dont worry about it, maybe it will fix itself", well it did not fix and become way worse. doctor is somewhat possessed with Helicobacter infection and try to treat it regardless if your symptom related to it, offering expensive tests and medication.

I still have abdominal pain problem and it putting huge strain on me, i have seen couple other doctors and had no success in finding what causes it.

Sheryl do you have other suggestions, like is there possible to find like best doctor in thailand, like the one person at the top of power pyramid will use?

This is just another red light district. Really nothing special. Many Chinese walk there. But they come from the Bali Hai pier and need to get to their busses or from the busses to one of the boat restaurants using the pier. I don't have the feeling that they walk there because of the nightlife. Some perhaps but not all of them.

you know there is parking space for buses on the pier, right?
