but the IO may have just been doing his job?
So, the IOs job is to accuse all foreigners to be liars and making life very difficult on a land border in the middle of nowhere. Are you foreigners all insane? Being treated like <deleted> on all entries by immigration and still staying. If this would happen to me in any country I'd be gone for good.

The weather in SE Asia is what makes the region appealing - along with the culture, of course.
Don't forget the massive air pollution. OISHI!

critical thinking is a problem across society
They can't afford to allow critical thinking. If that will spread who will be left working in low income jobs to serve the ones with more money?

Smart casual is the preferred dress-code in order not to trigger further enquiery.
How do you know that? Do you have access to immigration police guidelines?

Since she is an Expat her work permit and visa are a cost to the company.
So what's the running cost after the WP and extension were issued?
Anyways, use your common sense and just fire her.

Same BS for my non-Thai wife. We are married and she is on NON-O visa and she can't open an account at the same bank where I am. They are asking for her to have a tabien baan?!?!?! Which she can never have as non-Thai.

Use your brain and do what you think is right. No need to always listen what people are advising here. If you have common sense you'll be fine.

If you are older than 30, they don't want you anyway.

this pro language school has a bad name w immigration. I attended pro language in Bkk 3 yrs ago. I got stopped at suvarnabumi and I overheard the immigration officer mentioning I had an ed visa from pro language, this was 3 yrs ago. I thought they would not be in business anymore.
And that makes you think Pro Language school has a bad name with immigration?

Went to Sukhumvit Hospital in Ekamai once with a very bad food poisoning. The doctor asked me what medicine I took and I said that I took Perenterol and that's it's containing yeast (in Thai) and even showed the package. She had no idea what it was. She also suggested I had an appendicitis and asked me to come back three times after that (which I didn't do). Makes me wonder how much her parents paid someone to get her through med school.

The OP account is about the airline not immigration.
OP your flying without a visa and airline require an onward flight. This is because if you are denied entry Vientiane (?) you are possibly flown back at cost to airline.
Ahh okay. Thanks, I misunderstood.

Why should a Thai IO care about if you'll be let in into a 3rd country or not? Or if you fulfil requirements? Isn't that up to the airline to check during check-in/baggage drop?
So they are now giving trouble to let you in and out of the country?

The superficial reason was that I rented from a Chinese guy who lives in China and has no Thai Work Permit.
Why would your landlord need a WP to rent out his condo? He's probably subject to personal income tax in Thailand but no need for a WP. Our landlord is from Hong Kong and my wife had no problems reporting herself at CW.

www.thaievisa.go.th is the only place now where you have to set up an account and apply for all visa's online, we can no longer just go to an Embassy or Consulate with out booking online.
Since when?

It's not a bribe, it's traditional Thai culture, you are so naive to call it a bribe, go to any government office, drivee licensing etc, and you will see people bringing basket gifts, you know the type you see in supermarkets, you are trying to change the foundation of this culture, licking boots to get favours. You really are not welcome here if you are trying to neo colonise the country with thoughts of doing your job out of a calling. And you're likely to die mysteriously if you try, and end up in a morgue for a week as your body slowly decomposes with no hope of an autopsy that your throat was cut. The East is East and the West is West and nor the twains shall meet.
For a non-Thai this is counting as a bribe.

Certainly because the majority of foreigners are not immigrants but expats.

Quite simply, the sounds coming out of your mouth are just noise and have no meaning because you don't speak Thai.
That's nonsense. Even foreigners speaking Thai, that's still happening.

Thai bank account
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
My non-Thai wife was rejected opening an account at SCB, the application even went to the HQ but was still denied. She is on non-O marriage visa for being married to me and I had an account there with regular monthly income and savings. That was the eye opener for us to leave Thailand permanently, as she will never be part/integrated in this country or seen as an equal. I know it's just a bank account but on several occasions I've seen how she was mistreated.
