    What's the plan?

Try the existing TP with current requirements or obtain the Pass over the weekend 30, 31.

Edit: just saw the "Arrival" May 1.  So you have a TP currently?

    No TP currently.

That's why I'm reading here to see what others are saying or if there are any other options, like agents, etc.

We arrive on the 2nd May, so on the surface this sounds like good news.

However, should I take the risk of cancelling the Hotel/PCR test (can cancel before 24th for full refund) which may in some way end in screwing up the QR code, especially as the TP is temporarily closed to allow for changes.... and the potential for all this to go south.

Perhaps better to stay on the side of caution and keep all as is - its a small loss in the grand scheme as well as piece of mind.

Did you book your test & go already?

As at the moment, you can't select that date as your arrival date.

  3. Hi,

I am changing the license plate of my car to one of the colourfully designed ones. Just a personal decision -- I've always preferred them.

I'm just trying to figure out what documents I need to register the change.

I know if I do it in a different province to where the car is registered, it needs to be inspected again.

My main question is whether I need a certificate of residence if I'm changing the license plate in the same province the car is registered?

These have been difficult for me to get if you see my past threads.

  4. Excuse me in advance if this is not the right place to post. I saw similar - but not exact topics - in this same form.

I have friends arriving in Thailand this month and they are booking their SHA+ approved hotel, which I believe must include your airport transfer.

My concern is one or two of the stories I read where you test negative for Covid, but if you transfer to the hotel with someone who tests positive, then you also have to quarantine.

Does anyone know if transfers still group you together with other people, or whether you have to ask the hotel separately for a private transfer (if that is even possible)?

    Thank you in advance.

    This would not be Bangkok.

Residence Certificate is obtained at Mueang Thong Thani immigration.

There is no "over the counter service".

The fee is 200 baht and it is mailed out to you EMS. Can take up to 2 weeks.

To obtain the residence certificate the main thing they look for (Desk B) is receipt for 90 day report.

They may/may not also require you to show TM30..

Think for the OP the hurdle would be document check if they wanted the TM30.

At desk B it's not such a big deal with your 90 report receipt.

    Appreciate the reply, Dr. Jack.

I do have a 90 day report but unfortunately they kept asking me for the house owners ID and tabien baan.

This is where I'm a bit stuck as the tabien baan does not match (and won't for quite a while).

Might see if I can find and agent

You have as much time as you need - the dealer may be pressuring you because they want to ‘get it done’ (which is a rarity), however, its your car you have time to find an alternative.

    Interesting.

The only told me about the required paperwork six months after I got the car (guessing Covid put delays on everything?) and I still have the red number plates so I assume that is what they are worried about.

I’m wondering if he Op led with a confusing story about how the owner had passed away and he was awaiting transfer of ownership to another family member....

.... Immigration officers head spinning = Cannot !

Just to confirm, I didn't mention this at all.

Just told them I didn't have the documents they asked for. Here's a print out...

2 and 3 are what I did not have. I can get #2 easily, but it will not match #3.

  8. Hi all,

I'm currently having issues trying to get a certificate of residency (in Bangkok) so I can register the car I recently purchased.

I went to Muang Thong Thani last week without the home owners ID (explained in a second), hoping the completed TM30 form and my 90 day reporting slip and / or work permit might help.

Unfortunately they asked for proof of home ownership and the owners ID and wouldn't let me proceed further.

The reason I do not have these documents is because the home owner passed away, and it is in the process of being transferred to a family member. So the 'tabien baan' does not have the current owners name on it.

Apparently I have a very tight deadline for getting this document (according to the car dealer) or I'm going to have to register the car in another name.

Does anyone know if there's some kind of exception I can get, such as a document which states the home ownership is currently being transferred, or similar? Or any kind of agent who can help me with this.

    Thank you in advance!

  9. Thanks for all of the great replies!

There you go kishnanakishna....   you have all your answers....

As you are on a Work Permit you have the following Options:

    1) IS your address printed anywhere in your work permit ???  IF yes, use that. IF no, get a Certificate of Address from Immigration (as below)

My address is on my work permit but the car dealer said the registration was rejected because I don't have (what I have now learned) is a certificate of residence.

A little annoying, but I'll get it sorted.

    Thanks a lot!

  10. I bought a new car around six months ago, and now the car company are saying that I (pretty urgently) need to get some kind of proof of address certificate.

The problem is they only speak Thai so this has been written to me as หนังสือรับรองถิ่นที่อยู่ (Residence certificate).

The thing I'm confused about is where I have to go to do this, and what documents are required.

I have read other threads on the topic, such as this one, but they don't actually have a definitive answer (instead, people are mostly arguing about what you do and don't need).

I have been told I need to go to immigration with my passport and work permit to get this, but I was also told It's up to immigration whether they will give me this paper or not which seems very strange to me.

This is a brand new car, which I have already purchased. It is now being registered (I presume to get white license plates).

The dealer said they can handle everything for me but I need that address certificate first.

    Any advice GREATLY appreciated.

  11. Thanks a lot, Joe. You are a hero on these forums.

Your work permit would not be converted to anything.

If your job ends and you have a termination letter to cancel your current extension of stay (it is not a visa) you can apply for a 60 day covid 19 extension when it is canceled on the same day.

Would this be given to me by immigration? Or something the company have to do? Sorry for the questions.

Currently I have the 30 days 'under consideration' stamp.

The company still want to keep me as an employee, but this year appears more difficult than others for that to happen, so I'm trying to plan ahead in the event they can not continue to employ me.

  12. Apologies in advance if I use the incorrect terminology.

I currently have a work permit which allows me to work for another 12 months, but it doesn't look like I'm going to get the visa extension to go with it for various reasons.

I am just trying to be smart and planning ahead if something less than ideal were to happen. The current visa from last years work permit ends this month.

If my normal 12 month extension is not given, I believe the normal requirement is to leave Thailand within 7 days (you apply for an extension and get rejected).

Would it be possible to somehow "convert" this into a covid extension, so I can stay for an additional few months, or will I definitely have to leave within the 7 days?

    Thanks a lot!

They will open an appointment system in mid October when their initial 30000 doses arrive, they said.  The coupons are freely transferable until  used with a name to make an appointment. You do not need to contact the hospital to trade them. Anyone with a coupon can make a reservation.

    Rabas,

    This is incredibly insightful.

    Thank you so much!
