  1. I think the upcoming celebrations for the KING are going to be a tough time for everyone doing business in Thailand.

Every time there is an International event in Thailand the noose seems to tighten.

That being said, look on the bright side, there will be some fantastic fireworks.

  2. I was really thinking that I was going to have to chuck my phone in the bin.

Just throw your AIS sim in the bin. They've been having problems for many months so don't expect it to get better anytime soon.

I just don't understand how their network planning can be so ######ed up. How long did they think they could keep adding subscribers without adding capacity?

"They say" that the reason it is down is because they are setting up a new network with new hardware. :o The people at JAY MART said 2 days :D

I Expect the teen suicide rate to show a spike for this weekend once the data is reviewed at the end of the year.

I cant wait to check my balance when I do get it back, this being Thailand Ive already accepted that it will come up 0's.

  3. yes me and a few friends on 12call guess i have to go AIS tomorrow :o

You may want to wait a day or two, AIS is DOWN right now. Not congested, its DOWN and has been since TR 5pm.

I was just at the JAY MART store and when I walked in and got the words "do you know why.." they started laughing and said 1 maybe 2 day.

Apparently people have been walking in all day asking them the same question.

I wouldnt be surprised if right now theres some poor fella sitting there shaking in his boots because he forgot to back up the data for the pre-paid accounts.

What a nightmare, it was kind of funny on the sky train tonight watching the people holding their phones in different positions in the hopes of finding a sweet spot.

    Good luck :D

  4. Some 57.4 per cent of the respondents attributed the sexual harassment to pornographic CDs and movies, 53.6 percent blamed the light penalties imposed against offenders, 51.8 said seductive clothing of actors, actresses and singers were to blame, and 49.3 said alcoholic drinks were the among major causes.

Could someone explain this to me, I have a fear of MATH :D but my basic understanding of it tells me that these numbers are whacked? How can you have 200+% for respondents? :o:D

  5. Also, he's not smart enough to do anything with my competitors that might affect our company.

...but he may be smart enough to light a petrol bomb and hurl it through the front door of your business.

Thai's who lose face can go to extremes to regain face. I hope that he is not too bitter at losing his income source.

Im a little confused, how does setting your mother on fire regain face?

Maybe I dont understand face, but to me regaining face would be to do something to make people respect you more. The losing of face being the loss of respect?

I think the word face as I see it used in Thailand is simply a nice way of saying "revenge".

That being said why dont people just call it what it is, revenge?

And how does one REGAIN FACE? will the people at the office respect him more after he has burned them? Will they now bow to him and show him respect because he burned his mother?

Im confused because FACE seems based on what OTHERS think of you but the regaining or maintaining of it seems based on what the one who has lost it thinks.

Do Thais respect someone for "REGAINING FACE"?

  6. I made a post last night about a survey done in the BK Metro area that concluded more than half the respondents (children) had been sexually assaulted.

The report was pasted in full and linked to the BANGKOK POST article.

Are we not allowed to discuss social issues concerning Thailand unless they are positive?

I thought it was only the RF that was taboo?

The reason I posted it was not only that I found the topic was disturbing, but that I also found the statistics used to be somewhat bizzare.

Just curious why it was removed, Id hate to think that the Thai lobby for only presenting a "shiny happy in the land of smiles" had such a tight grip on this forum.

    confused.

  7. I guess I should take the "fixed by 12pm" with a grain of Thai salt....bummer.

Well at least I dont feel alone in my misery, and there is "some" comfort in that. lol

I wonder if when it does go back up if everyones phone is going to ring all at the same time, might be kind of funny if in a large crowd.

  8. On Phuket same issue with AIS. Went down last night and still not back up..... We have called and be informed that it will be up again at 12 noon today. Reason...... they are changing network..... To DTAC? LOL

Also during a few hours yesterday evening it was fairly impossible to call any number from DTAC network as well, became better around 10 PM.

Many people I spoke in Patong have been buying new sim cards of competng networks and discarded the AIS sims.

THANK YOU TTB! :o You've given me the peace of mind I needed.

I was really thinking that I was going to have to chuck my phone in the bin.

  9. I downloaded and bought the original Half Life 2 from Valve's Steam Service when it first came out without any problem whatsoever. I loved that game so I was eagerly awaiting the first official expansion for the game, which was released yesterday

However Valve's online payment program is simply abysmal - it refused to authorise ANY of my credit cards! Cards I use to buy things online with all the time

I have a suspicion it was checking the the actual IP address (Thai) against the country where my card is from (UK).

To make matters worse I kept trying to re-enter my credit card info and now one of my cards is not working as it has been reported stolen! ARGGGGHHH!!! <deleted>!!

Has anybody else had a similar experience?

I am now tempted to simply download the game from "elsewhere"

They may have reported suspicous usage of your card since you are in Thailand. I had to notify my CC companies that I was in Thailand because I have some joint accounts with one being used back home and one being used here.

Just to avoid possible problems in the future you may want to notify your card companies that you are "travelling" or live in Thailand.

My bank told me the CC companies are tired of having to pay for stolen numbers in SE Asia and Asia so they tend to shut down the accounts at the slightest hint of fraud, which is good, but in your case a bummer.

  10. My 1-2-Call phone had no coverage last night at around 9pm, not sure for how long. I have also had a number of problems when trying to make calls between 6 and 8pm..."network busy" comes up when I try to call, although I read that this is because their promotions have increased the peak time usage and their network can't handle it

Do you have "NETWORK COVERAGE" now?

and if so do you live in BK?

    thanks :o

  11. I was hesitating to post a msg here, thinking it might just be me!

I noticed my, and my wife's service, went down appx 4pm yesterday. It's still not up. :o

We travelled around several parts of BKK yesterday, back home to Bang-na, and no signal anywhere.

I've never heard of an outage lasting this long, I'm surprised there has not been any mention of it in the local media (or at least none that we found).

LOL :D I also was hesitating to post about it, Im ###### glad you posted because I was thinking that I was going to have to go out and buy a new cell phone today...thought it might be a mechanical issue.

I went to the website, but of course there is nothing there. I tried dialing the 1175 number that they list for service from my land line and get the same busy signal I get when I dial my cell phone.

I dont speak Thai so I dont know how much good it would have done if I had gotten through.

Have you tried dialing your number? do you get a busy signal

I sent an email to [email protected] and got the typical (at least in Thailand) VALUE CUSTOMER we will respond in 24hrs reply.

Ill let you know if I hear anything.

    this blows... :D

  12. Does anyone here have AIS 1-2 Call cell phone service, and have you had any problems with "no network coverage"?

At around 8pm last night the connection bar on my cell phone dropped to zero and whenever I try to use my phone it says "no network coverage". Ive never had any problems in BKK before so I was wondering if this could be something wrong with my phone or is it a problem with the network.

I went to the 1-2 call website but couldnt find a number to call.

So is anyone else having network outage issues? This has been going on for over 12 hours now.

    thanks!

  13. Hate to break it to you who dig this for what it "says" :o about it Americans....but The Apprentice was created by..............................................................................
