Again another blabber mouth. Why would you say 6 months?  I just can’t believe some posters. You only get 60 days each time and you didn’t mentioned if it was single entry or METV but even with METV there is no reason to say ANYTHING different than what is already written down on your arrival  card which better be 60 days or less!!

You do realize that even though your true intention is to only stay 6 months that other people use tourist visas to live here and would say exactly the same thing to an Immigration officer. Your travel history looks the same as people who are living here in condos with 1 year leases, bank accounts, and families. How can they know you are not living here?

Easy just look at when I left last year I come end November and I when home nearly end of may so they got records I have never stay longer then 6 months so now u cannot come on a tourist the reason why a tourist is for long stay they are saying it's for travelling around thailand and at what it for not for a long stay not staying in 1 place and when u go out after 60 day they are saying u cannot come back the same day it's got to be 1 month then u can come back and get the other 60 days so then u be losing 3 month it just seem they dont want u here on any visa here and then the immigration saying or dont be hard on the foriegnors because they bring money at just showing u they never learn thailand is finish time to move on where it greener now they want be getting my £160 for the visa no more

  5. Yes this was at don muaeng airport but this guy was trying to say was trying to stay long term where in fact I was only staying for 6. Months but he would not have it I was only her for 6 months plus he was say my age 67 people your age are all trying  to do what u are doing so if the multi is in and out what was the problem I went to penang and come back same day but no he said it got to be 1 month when u come back so the problem now when I come back again I cannot come back with a multi tourist or can I can back on a single tourist I dont know he said they not allowed u to come back on multi visa so do at mean a single tourist 60 days as well

At age 67 there are other more appropriate visa options. Get a non-immigrant O visa. Regardless of whether you consider yourself a tourist or not Immigration is going to want those over 50 and frequently spending half a year in Thailand to get an O or OA visa. Their definitions (however arbitrary) and their rules are the ones that count.

Yes but I agree in what u say but I live here 5 6 months so now they are even try to stop people with tourist visa so if they think u and live here they will stop u so why are they giving out tourist visa if they are looking at people like at I always thought a tourist visa for long stay but now they are saying it's not but immigration are say the thai consulate are not asking what the reason u are staying for 6 months  so why show money in bank for 6 months show u are on a pensions and then they are saying immigration no so I think if they think u are live here they will stop at tourist visa and dont matter if u are here for 4.5.6 months because u are not travelling around thai plus they want u to be of of thailand for i month then come back for your 60 day not go out for 1 day and get your 60 days

  7. I like to ask have anybody got advise on tourist visa  I have been coming for the last 4.5 years on a multi entry visa and had no problems and stay for 6 months and gone back uk after 5.6 month come back again now I have multi i got from the cardiff consulate what I pay for £160  now my 60 days was on today 17 dec so I go to penang and I come back the same day  when I got to the counter the girl as me where I stay told her it was on the slip plus on the register from the immigration office she call a guy over and he look at my tourist visa and saying to me u are not allowed in u are using the visa to live here and why are u using a tourist visa at your age 67 I said at what the consulate have been giving me he said they only interested in the money so he give me the 60 days and he said if u try to cone back in u will not be allowed so I have the visa until 14 fed where it should have been april 16 I plan to stay until may so why are they give u tourist visa and they saying u are using to live here for 6 months u got them in the consulate saying 1 thing and the immigration telling u something different what are the tourist visa for

Sad news, hope he recovers, but I cannot understand people that skimp out on health insurance and or travel insurance. From my calculations, it costs between 2-3 beers a day for someone that age, and yes I understand some can't get it because of their age and pre-existing conditions, but @ 66, come on, at least self insure, and at that age, if you haven't got money, you should stay in your home country as opposed to being a burden to others, harsh words, yes, but Thailand owes us nothing and we shouldn't be a burden on Thailand. No doubt I will cop some slack here for my open opinion, but it is what it is, the truth, he is now a financial burden to his family on both sides of the fence.

I would hate for something to happen to me which would make me a financial burden on my family, either side of the fence, so I take out medical insurance and travel insurance when I travel, sure it costs, but the burden is on me.

U are living in a dream world 2.3 beers per day  for 6 months like £600 .700 get the figures right

Let's see... 300 million a year in unpaid hospital bills... (maybe!)

vs potentially 3.8 billion in revenues from the proposed tourist tax

And what exactly kind of coverage are these Thailand travelers going to get for their 100 baht???

BTW, it doesn't seem to specify any particular kind of arrival/visa class... So presumably, either on entry or exit, they're planning to charge any and all foreigners, including long-term expats here who may already have insurance....

I didn't see any mention of any exemption for O-A visa holders who likely will be subject to the new and much more expensive insurance requirement of their own.  Or any plan to drop the O-A specific proposal in favor on this broader, more reasonably priced alternative.

    Yes.

I guess it all depends where you come from and the monies you have.

I have a great retirement from California.

My rent for example in Pattaya is 330 US a month with an ocean view compared to 2,200 US + in California.

As a golfer it is also much cheaper (1/2 to 1/3) in Thailand.

    Food is also much less.

Time with a lady cannot even compare so much better in Thailand.

None of these Thai Visa rules bother me the rest of it more then makes up for any inconvenience.

    Wow
