  1. So yesterday the home office published the timeline for the implementation of the new income requirements for UK visas. One of the main changes I can see compared to the original plan is that if your partner is already on the 5 year route then extensions made after April 2024 will still be assessed against the current £18600.

My constituent will be extending their spouse/partner visa on or after 11 April – will the £29,000 threshold apply to them, or only to first-time visa applicants?

Only to first-time applicants. A Government spokesperson initially said the higher threshold would apply to visa extensions, but the Home Office announced on 21 December that it would not: “Those who already have a family visa within the five-year partner route, or who apply before the minimum income threshold is raised, will continue to have their applications assessed against the current income requirement and will not be required to meet the increased threshold”.

  2. So after attending her VFS biometric appointment mid March, my GF got her UK visa yesterday, just over 5 months.

Previously been on 2 seperate visit visas to the UK, this time on a D-Marriage visa to marry within 6 months.

My question is obviously for her visit visa a return air ticket was required, i presume even though the intention is to marry then start the conversion to settlement within the UK, a return air ticket still required to satisfy the border force at the point of entry?

  3. My Thai gf is currently in the process of applying for a UK family visa (had multiple tourist visas already)

I have several documents with me in the UK required for her application (bank statements etc) and had originally planned on using an express courier to send these to her in Thailand in order for her to take them with her when she attends VFS in Bangkok.

After being made aware that it is possible for me to submit these myself electronically from the UK, i have been fruitlessly trying the link on the gov.uk website for vfs.global for submitting these, but the webpage never loads.

Can anyone advise if it is actually possible for me to upload these as part of her application?

    Thank you.

  4. I feel just as close to my Thai family as my UK one. Been together with my gf for 4 years, she's been to stay with me in the UK for a couple of 6 month visits, and I've been back and forth to Thailand many times, luckily just got back here before Xmas and the TP problems.

Have stayed with her parents and brother many times and they are the kindest caring people I know. All hard working, don't touch alcohol, go out of their way to make me feel welcome, never ask for money. They also make a point of never inviting other family members to their house whilst I'm staying, as they've told me some brothers and uncles are not good people. I can just feel the good energy and love around this close family and I feel blessed to be part of it.

When I do help out with shopping or maybe some gasoline for her brother the genuine gratitude they show me is so touching. Such a refreshing change from all the selfish, cynicism that the UK seems to perpetuate.

  5. Currently been waiting 8 working day since submitting my Evisa for Tourist. The system has just been displaying "Processing" on my application.

After emailing the UK Embassy yesterday i got the following reply which i find hilarious as seriously how can they expect us to believe there are high volumes of tourists applying for a visa at the current time.

  6. Went to Udon Thani this week to get 30 day extension. After checking into the hotel, I double checked with the receptionist that they would give my tm30 details to immigration that evening, so I could go first thing in the morning to immigration. She had never heard about having to do this, so called her boss who had no idea either, just telling me was a new hotel and they had never done this before (decent 4* star hotel opened for a couple of months) so after me explaining that they MUST report every foreigner staying at hotel to local immigration or face big fine, the hotel boss seemed to take it seriously and eventually photocopied my passport and got it taken to immigration. Was quite a bizarre situation, and I was just amazed they knew nothing about it.

So off I go first thing to immigration, completed tm7 in hand and photos of the required dimensions. Was seen in about 5 minutes, the io never even asked for my tm7 or photo, just took my pic with the computer cam on her desk, didn't ask for an address just if I was staying in Udon, stamped my passport and then asked for 2000thb, and even with the 1900 ready in my hand, I didn't want to risk her losing face and causing grief, so took the wallet out to give her the 2k. ????

Is it common among most immigration offices to not ask for the tm7 anymore?

The vast majority of people experience no problems and many of those who rush to TV to throw a hissy fit provide a carefully edited, one-sided version of the "facts"surrounding their problematic experience,  intentionally or through ignorance.

Welcome to Thailand. Carefully avoid contact with the angry barstoolers with their tales of woe.

Totally agree with you, first came to LOS over 20 years ago, and i have felt absolutely no change in attitude from the Thais to myself, if you are a decent, polite, well mannered person they seem to be as friendly and welcoming as ever.

I have had far more hassle from UK border force when i have returned back to the UK on a few occassions - the last time earlier this year they spent nearly an hour going through every single item in my suitcase - even googling some pycnogenol tablets (natural supplements for jet lag) and glucosamine (for joint pain) to see if they were legal. Then went through all my papers which i had taken for my partners UK visa application (looking through all my bank statements etc) and i had pages of handwritten notes to help with the visa application with some names on of other Falangs i had met in Thailand with contact details as they were helping me with advice on my partners application. And every name they were asking me "so who is this" giving me the most accusatory look.

Their attitude was how on earth can someone so young afford to spend so much time travelling outside the UK. I felt such hostility from them, basically accusing me of being an international drugs smuggler was how it felt. They finally contacted the HMRC to check if what i told them was true about my earnings and tax paid, which finally satisfied them and let me on my way.

  8. That's perfect, thanks ubonjoe for taking the time to reply. The thing i could not get my head round is if when the i/o checks your TM30 status he gets the entire history of where you have been staying so you cannot have any gaps recorded.

But from what you say, i now understand that they just see the most recent and active TM30 location - so if i was to book and stay in a hotel in Udon for a couple of nights before attending the immigration then this will suffice?

  9. ok, after spending a couple of days trying to digest as much info as i could online, i am now twice as confused as i was before. So must apologise in advance for starting yet another TM30 related thread.

Im due to arrive in LOS next month on a 60 day SETV issued from London and plan to extend for +30 days. After a couple of nights in bkk i will be going up country to stay with my gf at her house. Am i correct i need her to register on the Thai immigration website (https://extranet.immigration.go.th) with her details and scan of her id card and house book (is in her name) and then within 24 hours of my arrival at her property i then use the id/password she was emailed from her house registration to input my details with passport scan?

when i attend immigration for my 30 day extension (will probably be udon) do i need a screen print out or any other document of my TM30 to apply?

and then if we go to visit CM and stay in a hotel for a few nights, when we return to her house i need to again submit my details?

what i am also confused about is the TM28 as i see that for a 30day extension you need a copy of this stapled in your passport? is this correct - or does having an uptodate TM30 registered supercede this?

  10. Yes i agree ThePioneer, i detest Paypal, they are complete scumbags - i lost a lot of money with them whilst being a power seller on Ebay, and they blocked my accounts due to some scammers buying from me, and took me over 12 months to get my funds released (over £10,000)

I am a huge believer in BTC but if you want something to truly stay under the radar then its Monero (XMR) all the way - the only true anonymous cryptocurrency. I buy/sell on Binance, Bitmex, Kraken and Bitstamp - also deal with local Thai traders on localbitcoins for trades in/out of Thai bank accounts. If you wanted a quick hassle free trade then buy from a Thai trader on localbitcoins as you have no need to submit any documentation to register like other exchanges, and is completely safe using their Escrow system - you make a bank payment from your Thai bank to theirs and get the bitcoin released within minutes.

  11. i recently followed your guide Senior Player, posted my passport to the London Thai Embassy on wednesday, got the visa issued today, and should get passport back tomorrow. Applied for the 60 day SETV, but supplied my flight details for 80 days stay and stated i would be applying for a 30 day extension from a local immigration office, and just did a book and cancel with booking.com for a few days hotel in Bangkok, for my bank statement i just saved one page from the pdf statement from my online account - then converted it to a jpg image and uploaded that, i phoned them today just to check and visa issued all fine.

UPDATE: I've just noticed that you're discussing the 6-month visa (METV) and not the 2-month one. Sorry. My information is for the 60-day SETV.

I thought the discussion was regarding the 60 day SETV - and Chivas comment about being told he had to prove a £1500pcm income was for a SETV.

  13. Well i was going to apply for my next SETV through the online system and organise an expensive inconvenient stay in london, usually just done it by post to london, My plan for my next visit had been a flight from london to vientiane and an over land entry to Nong Khai.

But now seeing you need actual booked flight tickets into Thailand to apply, so that means the only way to enter now is through an airport?
