Safer to take their number and report them. It does actually work, and the call centre do take action and even return follow up calls!  I've not done it recently since I use Grab/Uber or security guards at my apartment

Now for the good news.

All my plans seem to have worked out perfectly.

1) With 2 cheap adapters, I have the torch attached to the cheapo disposable Butane cans, and it works fine. No problems with pressure.

2) I also managed to import a Disposable Can of Propane from the US. So that works too.

3) With another cheap adapter, I can refill the Propane can, and keep using it. Preferably with Propane, but I'm thinking LPG would work just as well.

Last question, Where is a good place in central BKK to refill with Propane?  Near Lotus/BigC on Rama 4 would be great, but anywhere in central BKK would be fine.

If you followed the thread, what you appear to be talking about is called LPG according to the experts here.

I have a few options to be researched, and some items in transit that should provide me with a solution one way or another.

I'll try to remember to post an update with the best solution I find (unless of course something goes drastically wrong and I end up splatted across the walls LOL)

Sorry to be blunt but why bring sh1t from the US and expect to find replacement canisters in Asia.  Just use what the locals use? 

 

For small jobs a blow torch type cigar lighter will do. 

As I think I mentioned before, I have an attachment that is made for the TS8000, THAT is why I need a Propane can/bottle.

I didn't BRING it, I specifically imported it for a specific use along with the attachment mentioned.

Maybe, if you have an empty canister that fits the torch a local machine shop could knock up an adaptor so you could fill the canister from a cooking gas bottle (you'll need to invert the cooking gas bottle to get liquid out of it).

Ditch the whole idea, I've seen propane/air (and even oxy-propane) torches in various outlets here. Could actually be the easiest/cheapest option.

 

I have one of the cheapo butane torches that fit the baby cans of butane, works great for soldering and starting the barbie.

Manufacturer not much help, but i’ve ordered some adapters from Amazon and Ebay and think they’ll at least get the torch to fit the Butane can, but I’m concerned about what was said above about the pressure. 

Is he right? Are the disposable cans so different in pressure?

I’ve ordered a propane can from the US. Expensive shipping, and customs will probably be a pain, but hopefully they’ll let the single can through.

I’ve also purchased an adapter that can be used to refill the can, so I can wother fill it with Propane (assuming I find someone who supplies pure Propane, or refill with LPG (assuming pressure is not an issue)

I need to use this torch because I have an attachment built for it which I want to use...

I think I already said, but I too already have a Butane torch

I’ve seen the ones for BB guns, and could probably use them, but I’d preder to have Food Grade ones.

I have a Butane torch that uses the local cans, and have been using it for ages... think I bought it from the states but cannot recall.

My new torch is on the other hand threaded, and cannot use the Butane cans even if I wanted to...

I've asked the manufacturer, and they have said "unfortunately, butane would not work with the TS8000 as the pressure is not high enough". That seems a little strange to me, since my Butane torch works fine, with the pressure it's under.....

My options seem to be...:-

1) buy a small heavy tank of LPG which hopefully has a hose and thread head that I can buy with it that fits to the torch.

2) try to find some kind of adapter from the Butane cans to the thread on the torch....

Any suggestions?  

What's the standard fitting on a hose from the LPG tanks?

And also back to the initial question, where is a decent supplier in BKK that actually knows his stuff, and knows what he's selling?

I'm sure it will probably work ok with Butane, but I'm waiting to hear from the manufacturer before I try it....  I have another torch that I use with Butane, but the TS8000 only mentions Propane and another gas as useable with it, no mention of Butane.

I asked in a couple of shops and got a similar response to what you say, but they didn't even know what the gas they were selling was, just sold it as "cooking gas". I tried reading the tanks, but even they didn't seem to have any indication of what type of gas it was!  I read a lot of the Thai, but some of it was too small for my poor eyesight.....

If you have a hose regular cooking gas is propane and "barbecue" sized tanks are available and portable.

 

 

You could use a hose I  suppose, but yes, I want to connect to a can like the one in the Pic. Actually, coincidentally it's a Bernzomatic TS8000 :)

 Yes Propane, NOT Butane (which can be found easily). 16oz cans would be great. I want it to use with a welding torch from the US.

I should go out of the country to get a new TM6, since that's why I can't use the online system.... Mine's over 10 years old, and not in their system. Not that it tells me that, just gives some ridiculous and unhelpful error, I had to discuss the problem at some length at Immigration to find out.

I have been living in Bangkok for 25 years and the statement at the start of this thread is complete sensationalist rubbish!

I can't do online reports because my Arrival card is 11 years old and it's not on their system.... I'd have to leave the country and get a new one.

I went Cheng Wattana Mon about 9:30am, biggest queues I've ever seen...  about 140 before me in the queue.

Asked if LadPrao was still doing 90 Day reports and was told yes.

Decided to give Imperial World LadPrao a try. Got there about 10:15am. Lifts not even working, and only some of the escalators!

Got to 5th floor and queue out the door and halfway down the corridor!

Back to Cheng Wattana. Got there just as my number came up. In and out less than 5 mins :)
