    Anything to substantiate this?

Been working here for almost 20 years so I've seen quite a few schools in my years here... never saw a teacher from an agency make more than 30k in a school ... well sometimes 35k... Most of the time the schools skim off 10-15 k off the salary offered by the gvt and they don't even pay vacations.

I see you are very active in almost anything that has to do with teaching here on TV and much of it is less than accurate. I don't bother pointing it out, but it seems you are a new teacher here and maybe you should sit back and get some experience before making yourself seem knowledgeable about education in Thailand...

Oh no, Teacherclaire is special! She is a real teacher, and very experienced in Thailand. She has much helpful advice. She is my best friend!

    At my birthday was magnificent!

To Thee will I direct my prayer,

    To upgrade W 10 Home to W 10 Pro

Go into airplane mode or disconnect from the internet.

Change key to W 10 Pro by inserting  X3W8N-3WQCV-2MXDF-K77MK-7XMP6  (Windows 10 Pro Default Key)

Then use a key you've bought from E-bay and activate it. W 10 Pro runs on any language.

    Set all settings to English.

Ms Claire, you are so clever! I just entered this key in my W10 upgrade from W8.1 and bless the lord it worked perfectly. Thank you mam!

I will share this with my brother's software shop in Kenya!

Zero COVID 19, kids are fine and we've already stared a few weeks ago.

But the school is small and has temperature scanners for all heights and sanitizers for free. Of course also masks for visitors.

There's a time when I thought I had caught it, but it was an ordinary flu.

And to be honest, I do not think that I could easily get it. I stay healthy, do exercises and think positive.

But some security measures should be done daily. Never forget that it's still around.

Your mantra is a shining example of brilliance Ms Claire!

So to clarify, given the circumstances concerning Covid -19 and the amnesty agreement, it is still possible for those on a tourist Visa to convert to a non-b, provided all the necessary documentation is in order?

Yes, it is possible. A colleague of mine did it last Monday at Immigration HQ in Bangkok. What she got was a 90 days stamp based on employment.

If you don't sign such a contract, you won't have a job. The lies already start at well-known websites like ajarn.com, where certain agencies are seeking English teachers.

"No degree needed, we'll help you to receive a work permit" and other <deleted>.
But in reality, some of them have to leave the country to apply for a Non-B at a consulate or an embassy.

That happened to an Aussie friend, and he told the officer that his agency didn't tell him that he needed one.

He went outside, called his agency, they produced a fake degree which they then sent to him per e-mail.

He came back the next morning, applied for his visa and all was fine. But........

If that's not highly illegal, then I don't know what to say.

I would never work on a fake degree; one day, the bottom will drop out.

    Oh Claire. That's terrible.

    More power to you.

We have been in touch via PM about this.  I teach online both during the daytime (teaching 60 young students in Chinese government schools), and also teaching in the evening/weekends (private 1-1 classes).

The daytime lessons only take place during school term time - I make about $2,000 a month from those classes.  The private evening classes are not affected that much by the school holidays - I make $2,000 a month from teaching in the evenings/weekends.

I miss my bricks and mortar teaching!  But I want to save money in the bank for old age (just around the corner!).  So online teaching is the way to go for me right now.

Once I have banked enough to live off the interest (I estimate in about 7 years from now - Laos banks offer 8% interest on savings), I intend to return again to teach in Burma as a volunteer - assuming my health is all OK ????

You always do the best resorts, and are simply the best teacher!

Regarding the Laos bank account, is it possible to open one while I'm in Laos, on a tourist visa?
