  1. Shocking scenes at Lopburi Robinson.

Looks like an armed robbery of a gold store, but the criminal has gone on the rampage, shooting many.

Sadly reports are of several deaths including a very small child.

The robber escaped on a motorbike and is still at large.

more details on "Saraburi สระบุรี" page on FB.

Thats why i said 06:00.  when it went 36.97.   1580398722_ScreenShot2019-08-12at08_27_31.png.e5609216520d5bc7f8566621bd1b0a8f.png

Moved some more sterling out at 37.32 today then dropped a bit.. feels like playing blackjack at the moment.  but as long as Boris and the brexit clowns keep ‘delivering’ I’m getting face/aces first card (I’m a staunch remoaner btw if you haven’t guessed but I’m trying to make the best of a bad situation - my Thai wife and son deserve the best I can give them)

Both are true. The pound after the Asian financial crisis in 1998 rose from the high 50s to the mid 70s and then fell back a bit, averaging rates in the high 60s for around a decade. The slight downturn between 2004-7 was nothing to do with the huge impact on the pound of the 2008 financial crash, clearly visible in the chart above. Subsequently it made quite a respectable recovery to around 53+ but the Brexit vote killed this overnight and has wiped 30% off it's pre-referendum value.

And Bozo Du pfeffel has contributed 10% of that in less than a month.  Sub-30 be the new norm soon.  Friday evening’s graph looks like the north face of the eiger.

I know it’s low season, but the British pubs in Bangkok are unusually quiet at the moment. Is the exchange rate starting to bite now?

36.64 today.  it fell off a cliff last night.

When are the brexit tin-foil hat wearing cultists going to accept it’s a huge factor.

Sterling has plummeted against every non basket case currency.  Expect sub euro, dollar parity and 30 baht, rate it’s going

Otherwise. Are aromatase Inhibitors commonly available in Thai pharmacies? Just in case.????

how much test are you planning on taking?

not one of these '300mg week' TRTs bodybuilders talk of ????

If it's properly dosed, 100mg week long ester should be fine and

you shouldn't need Adex on these doses (AI's are not healthy at all)

You'll need to draw bloods regularly to see of course (3-4 months is fine)

also keep an eye on RBC/Haematocrit.  some people really see a significant rise on TRT.

  7. Same in England due to the brexit knuckledraggers now running the show.  Sterling will slump to parity with dollar and prob low 30s baht (assuming Thai bank curb its appreciation - could be worse).  I’d advise any brit farang to move a reasonable percentage of your sterling assets into thai account (and gold), because once Boris de pfeffle wifebeater gets his no deal ‘disaster capitalism’ brexit, expect another 15% wiped off sterling.  Even in one year I’m up a few K sterling (I’m not loaded at all, just an IT contractor transferring 100-150K baht month)

it would be better to buy a similar car here in Thailand than to import.

my car in UK is an M5 mapped to 700+bhp.  the cost of one here is way beyond my means and even if it wasn't, the thought of my missus behind the wheel of that on her thai licence is too terrifying to contemplate.  we have a slow, boring yaris here ????

When I first came to live in Thailand the exchange rate was Bt70 to the £1 sterling , now it has dropped to about Bt38 , which is a pitiful amount as compared to before . To have a higher valued Baht looks good , but is it good for the economy . Thailand used to be popular for cheap exotic holidays in the sun , but today there are other places more appealing for the money .

To be fair it's still cheap compared to UK.

Currently back in Leeds UK contracting and it's shocking how expensive it is.

300 baht for basic thai meal (pad krapow gai etc) that would be 30 baht in Saraburi.

2-3K baht for massage.  again 300 baht back home.

Thai ingredients from the 'nong fern' market in Leeds: extortionate.

(mentioning 'thai things' because my missus when over here buys them)

    but big spends too:

property 15-20MB for something you could get built for 2MB in Saraburi.

then add in all the council tax, VAT, petrol, road tax etc etc.

  10. basic economics - for example the baht has lost 25% value against GBP in 2.5 years (we are double whammied by brexit of course).  people's salaries in UK have stayed pretty static, ergo 25% less spending power in the Land of Smiles.  doesn't matter about all these ever increasing hordes of tourist coming into swampy, if TAT are to be believed, once they get here they won't spend as much.

I don't know.  In another thread I said the pound had been going down against the baht for 20 years and I started a giant argument.  https://walletinvestor.com/forex-forecast/gbp-thb-prediction

well we can certainly tell when 23/6/2016 was.. it looks like the downhill section at innsbruck since then. thanks brexiters.  all us brits will be ki nok and the ones asking our thai missus's for sinsod at this rate.

  12. depends what you want to do.  rained daily in saraburi but we've spent most time doing 'indoor' activities (house renovation, shopping, eating out, visiting temple and so on).  at least it's otherwise hot and the rain does stop for a bit in Thailand.  Been back in Leeds UK recently for work and it's just been cold, drizzly and grey all the time.

I travel a lot. (Been in half of provinces in Thailand) and most of time 4/5 star. You can find many nice 4 star hotels for 1000-1600 easily with search, as for 5 star never seen any nice one under 1700 either, and usually over 2000-2500 even during their renovation/opening period. But most nice 4 star hotels I find for that price often increase price later on. I’m guessing I’m taking advantage of low seasons, avoiding Friday-Saturday’s and marketing strategies.

Thailand seems to operate a very fluid '5 star'.  we have places like the Hua Hin Hilton, which felt like a genuine 5 star, then down through more '4 starry' places like Wora Bura (otherwise a lovely resort near Hua Hin) and then places like Dream Sukhumvit, and a few near Pattaya we've stayed in with '5' on booking etc that really would be 3-4 max in London.

  14. far more than sex/looks by a long shot.

    had two thai relationships:

    1. A Thai woman living in Morley, Leeds of all places.  she looks good when dolled up to the nines in tight-fitting clothes, but she had the personality of a block of wood and within a week had 'married me off' so she could in her words 'live off rich farang and not work at my Spa any more' (I am IT contractor, hardly 'rich')

    2. Wife from Saraburi.  amazing woman, full of passion, energy and wit, doesn't need to get made up, dress sexily, totter around acting all coy to get me going.  no surprises i married her.

By the way, are there any costs related to getting the marriage certificate? I think my brother said that he asked about it and they said it costs like 50000 baht ...is it possible?

Shouldn't be anything like that unless you are using some crazy high priced agency.

Cost me circa 2000B to get my affirmation signed at british embassy in Lumpini and then a few hundred baht to get it all translated into Thai.  You then go to local Amphur with 'er indoors and a couple of her family members as witness whilst you sign your life away, sorry, get married ????
