  1. Is anyone familiar with the possibility and process of transferring ownership of a Thai vehicle from a seller who is not in Thailand?

My local Transfer 'agent' advised "Sorry Sir, no can" but I vaguely recall that there is a transfer process is this situation.

Have access to 'Blue book' and can obtain copy of seller passport and departure stamp.

    Anyone in the know

    Thanks in advance

  2. Can anyone advise how long before departure one can obtain a single entry re-entry permit?

Previously  I departed Thailand 3 weeks after renewing annual visa so got both at the same time, thus saving a visit to the beloved Immigration Office.

This year I’ll be departing almost 3 months after my visa renewal and was wondering if I could still obtain both together.

Appreciate any advice and insight, thanks

  3. Thanks everyone for your advice and suggestions.

Haven't cracked it yet but have learnt some.  Xiaomi tablet confirmed to work on both 2.4 and 5 GHz wifi.

Managed to get hotspot to connect intermittently, but with no internet access.  Also have the same situation on my old iPad now due to resetting phone hotspot settings.  I suspect it may be something to do with regional settings on each device as I've set up on both Thailand and Australia Hopefully Pattaya2U will be able to sort me out!

  4. the tablet is a Xiaomi Pad 6.  Yes , Chinese!

Phone is also a Xiaomi. Hot spot is 2.4ghz.  Can’t find any way to switch it to 5ghz.  Pad 6 spec says supports 2.4 and 5 ghz

has been working fine as hotspot for all other devices.

What’s particularly confusing is it did appear momentarily on the tablets wifi listing but now isn’t.

I’ve searched and tried many solutions so thought it was time to engage a professional

  5. Sorry for delay DrJack54, I struggling with forum quote functionality.

yes entered on re-entry  permit, non O-A retirement visa.  Planning on staying around 10 months.

previous rental address terminated in Nov 22

I realise that my circumstances are unusual and may be problematic

  6. Can anyone offer advice please?

Just returned to Thailand for extended stay, residing in Condo belonging to brother in law who recently passed away in UK.

Aware of need to lodge TM30 report, to avoid issues with future 90day reports amongst other reasons I’m sure.

Can anyone advise how I should go about lodging TM30 in these circumstances?

    any pertinent advice appreciated .

    many thanks ????

  7. Ok. So here’s my actual experience as of today 17/8/22 at Pattaya DLT office renewing my initial 2 year licences (motorbike and car) with 5 yr licences

The DLT smart que App can be downloaded from Apple store or Playstore. It does allow foreigners to book on line FOR SOME DLT offices, unfortunately not for Pattaya.

licence renewal can be done up to 6 months before and 1 year after your current licence expires

you must visit the office to book an appointment to renew your licence.  I don’t now if an agent can do this without your attendance.

Booking table is now outside under a tent, a Covid control measure I’m assuming.  Grab a booking queue number and wait your turn!

They need to see your passport to determine eligibility and type of licence to be granted.  No passport, no booking.  I believe that short term visa holders are only issued a 2year! Rather then a 5 year licence extension.

Bookings are currently available within couple of days.

With your booking slip they will give you a list of all documentation required.

    In my case;-

Residence certificate, one original plus one copy for the two licences. 300bht from imigration

Medical certificate, one original plus one copy for the two licences 100bht plus, depending on where you get it from.

Copy of passport information page and visa page( x2 for the two licences)

Copy for both sides of each current licence

My booking sheet had a line drawn through the requirement to complete the 1hr on-line training refresher.  I’d already completed it and received the completion QR code but was not asked for it.  An agent confirmed that it’s not required for 2yr to 5yr renewals

You’ll need copies of your home country and/or? international driving permit if it’s your first Thai licence.

On the day, booking time is 30 minutes before the process starts so no point in arriving early.  Your paperwork will be checked, again at the outside booking desk and taken from you.  You also get a ‘ticket’ for the next stage of the process on the second floor of the building.

Once inside you’ll take the ‘name the traffic light colours’ and Emergency Stop braking test. The ‘depth perception’ test was not used for my group.

if you pass you’ll have your appear work returned and pay the necessary fee, all done on the second floor of the building. On payment you’ll be given a further numbered ticket for your place in the photograph queue.

Photographs are now taken outside.  You’ll be called up in groups by number.

Once taken your licence(s) will be produced and brought outside to you within about 10-15 minutes.

One final point.  It appears that licence expiry dates for renewed licences are set 5 years from your next birthday.  If your renewal is due close to your birthday you can probably score the equivalent of an extra year on your licence by waiting until after your birthday to renew.

ps.  I was told that agents are asking around 3,500bht to hold your hand.

    Cheers

  8. Thanks Sandyf.  I actually quoted the wrong office from the DLTAmartQue App and I’m using the main DLT ChonburiProvincial Land Transport Office (Pattaya).

I was informed on visiting yesterday that the App. Does not work for this location, at least for those registering with a Passport rather than Thai ID.

so you have to visit in person to make a booking for licence renewal.

also remember to take you Passport as they won’t allow a booking to be made without it, even for existing licence holders, ????

So just to be 100% clear....you have a reentry permit in your passport.

This statement is not clear to me...

"Just returned LOS on Retirement visa re-entry."

You either returned with a valid non O-A or 12 month extension with a reentry permit.

If you did not obtain a new visa then you do not require to do TM30, as advised by others.

Yes, sorry for any confusion caused, I have re-entry permit in passport, no new visa required and no TM 30 required.

    Thanks again

  10. Just returned LOS on Retirement visa re-entry.

Also returned to long term rental address.

Can anyone please advise, Do I need to arrange for resubmission of TM30 notification, having been out of the country for around 3 months?

Also, with regard to future 90 day reporting.  I’m aware I need to report again 90 days after arrival date.  I also believe I will have to recommence 90 reporting with new TM.47.  Can anyone confirm please.

    Many thanks

  11. Thank you all for your comments,

yes I did book and pay for test and go

yes I did submit booking details including full test and go content to Thailand Pass including flight details, passport, vaccination and insurance.

it would appear that I jumped the gun.  Hotel believed Agoda should tell me to contact them.  Agoda stated they would contact me.

As they hadn’t received the same details that I submitted to test and go they rejected and I had to start again.

All fixed now,  perhaps a useful lesson for someone .

    Thanks  again for your replies

  12. Recently had first attempt at Thailand pass rejected.  All required paperwork including passport, flight details, vaccination and Agoda Test and Go booking submitted.

    Response was-

Your hotel has rejected your registration in the Thailand Pass system due to incomplete / non-compliance documents. Please contact your hotel directly for more information

id had no direct contact with the hotel before application for the pass.

I suspect I need to provide them with arrival details and that they have to acknowledge this before the Pass issued.

Anyone have any experience of this?

I believe I have to reapply from scratch once sorted with the hotel?

A warning to others applying at least.

Thanks in advance for any constructive advice
