  1. Whether a falang boyfriend or a Thai family member, those with resources have responsibilities. Spoken or unspoken. They who have, give, those without, receive. Without question on either side. TIT
  2. Growing problem. Disturbing trend. Where have you been for the last 30 years?
  3. Perhaps try Carabao Dunkel if you can track it down. Very similar to Lao Dark by all accounts and about half the price
  4. Jomtien advised me about 10 months ago that TM30 must be resubmitted when returning to Thailand even for same address. This has not been my experience for several years previously so I queried and was told it is now a requirement.
  5. I've found most 'Landlords' and agents to be flexible ' on the ground' here in Thailand. Generally they think in terms of monthly, six monthly and yearly rental rates but you may be able to negotiate 3-5 monthly rates depending on supply and demand. As mentioned by others less flexibility if you're commencing in the high season ,Nov- March/April, in a popular tourist location
  6. can anyone recommend local technician around Pattaya to remove and replace a 46 pin LCD mounted on a PCB. Have all the parts, looking for someone who's good with a soldering iron. Many thanks 🙏
  7. Absolutely, highly unlikely that the Revenue Department will expend 1000s of man hours fishing for the minnows when they have MUCH bigger fish to catch. Tax has always been payable on income remitted in the current financial year yet how many pensioners have ever filed a Thai tax return?
  8. Have you ever seen one of those Issan rockets close up? They're about 6m long And weigh about 50kg. They also 'land' somewhere!
  9. Thanks everyone, for your replies and insights
  10. That's interesting. I was advised the opposite 6 months ago at Jomtien. TIT
  11. Slow speeds experienced on phone . Varies but often below 1Mps
  12. I’m an IT novice, please be gentle with me! For the last couple a years I’ve purchased a TrueMove 12 month data SIM. Many variation available , mine was 100Gb/ month rated at 6Mps which I considered a reasonable deal at about 1,400 bht for 12 months service. in practice download speed has been variable and often well below the stated 6Mps. I’m due for a renewal and have heard the AIS and maybe Detac have more reliable speeds. Does anyone have first hand experience of a well performing SIM? Many TIA
  13. I’ve been using a Xiaomi Pad6 for abut 8 months. Very pleased with it.
  14. Sussex, Did you have any success? In a similar situation
  15. Thanks Ralf, Sellers visa has expired and has no plans to return so looks like I may have a problem
  16. Is anyone familiar with the possibility and process of transferring ownership of a Thai vehicle from a seller who is not in Thailand? My local Transfer 'agent' advised "Sorry Sir, no can" but I vaguely recall that there is a transfer process is this situation. Have access to 'Blue book' and can obtain copy of seller passport and departure stamp. Anyone in the know Thanks in advance
  17. Can anyone advise how long before departure one can obtain a single entry re-entry permit? Previously I departed Thailand 3 weeks after renewing annual visa so got both at the same time, thus saving a visit to the beloved Immigration Office. This year I’ll be departing almost 3 months after my visa renewal and was wondering if I could still obtain both together. Appreciate any advice and insight, thanks
  18. Thanks everyone for your advice and suggestions. Haven't cracked it yet but have learnt some. Xiaomi tablet confirmed to work on both 2.4 and 5 GHz wifi. Managed to get hotspot to connect intermittently, but with no internet access. Also have the same situation on my old iPad now due to resetting phone hotspot settings. I suspect it may be something to do with regional settings on each device as I've set up on both Thailand and Australia Hopefully Pattaya2U will be able to sort me out!
  19. the tablet is a Xiaomi Pad 6. Yes , Chinese! Phone is also a Xiaomi. Hot spot is 2.4ghz. Can’t find any way to switch it to 5ghz. Pad 6 spec says supports 2.4 and 5 ghz has been working fine as hotspot for all other devices. What’s particularly confusing is it did appear momentarily on the tablets wifi listing but now isn’t. I’ve searched and tried many solutions so thought it was time to engage a professional
  20. Thanks NextG. I’ve tried all of that. For some reason my phone’s hotspot doesn’t even appear on the tablets list of available wifi even though I’m using it successfully on my old tablet. Could be something to do with wifi frequency Think I need help from someone more knowledgeable than me!
  21. Hello All, having problems connecting a new Android tablet to my Android phone’s hotspot. Can anyone recommend a good, preferably English speaking, tech/shop in the Pattaya area where I might get some help? many thanks in advance
  22. I saw the 108,000 bht quoted on line, seemed unbelievable compared to Royal Enfield Hunter 350 at 137,000 for a very basic bi with half the power. Called in at Sukumvit Triumph dealer who’s predicting 170-200,000 with availability expected around Feb next year.
  23. Thanks all for your replies
  24. Can anyone recommend a good place in Pattaya area for iPad repair, screen glass and battery replacement? I’m hoping for specifics rather than Tutcom. TIA
  25. Sorry for delay DrJack54, I struggling with forum quote functionality. yes entered on re-entry permit, non O-A retirement visa. Planning on staying around 10 months. previous rental address terminated in Nov 22 I realise that my circumstances are unusual and may be problematic
