Write a short letter right now stating that, based on their verbal statement that the termination will be handled by their lawyer, you are awaiting contact from their lawyer before considering the termination as effective. Make them sign to acknowledge receipt of this letter,.

    That's a good idea.

Moreover, I think it's worth noting that my "visa" was actually issued before obtaining the work permit. Therefore, they shouldn't necessarily be linked to each other, I guess?

If my memory serves me right, my initial employer in Thailand back in 2019 first obtained a work permit, and then we used that work permit as the basis to apply for a visa or some form of extension (during that time, I entered Thailand on a regular 30-day tourist exemption stamp). After approximately three months, I was granted a proper one-year NON-B visa.

In this case, the sequence is reversed, which could potentially work in my favor.

How were you informed that your contract is being terminated? Is the termination really with effect from today? Were you still on a probation period at the job? If you have written notification of your termination, do they state that their lawyer will contact you within the same letter?

For dealing with immigration, the help of the lawyer (assuming the employer is paying) will be helpful. However, you might be eligible for compensation which the lawyer may well attempt to steer you away from. If possible, go with the lawyer to the Labour office when the lawyer takes the work permit there for cancellation, and talk to the officials there yourself. If you are entitled to anything, the Labour Department officials tend to be very good at helping employees get what they are entitled to.

I will look for your following posts before commenting further.

Last Friday, just moments before wrapping up my work for the day, I was summoned for a meeting where I was presented with a "Termination of Employment during Probation Period" letter. The date on the letter is 15th May 2023, which is today. Unfortunately, there is no mention of any forthcoming actions concerning the cancellation of my work permit or visa. The company heavily rely on their lawyer for that kind of matters. Consequently, I have been unable to obtain any information regarding my immigration status from them. They have merely assured me verbally that they will arrange a meeting with their lawyer on Monday (today) to clarify everything. However, according to the nature of our conflict, I must take some measures to safeguard myself against any potential harmful negligence on their part.

And obviously my contract explicitly grants the employer the right to terminate the agreement without prior notice during the probation period.

You entered Thailand at some point in January or February as a tourist, and then your tourist entry was converted to a non-B at immigration, right?

In this case you can stay in Thailand until 11th June with your current permission to stay.

Indeed, you are correct. The exemption stamp in my passport has been "transformed" into what now appears as a "NON 'B'" stamp, despite being granted for only a three-month period.

However, I am concerned about whether the validity of my "visa" is somehow dependent on my work permit status. If my work permit has been canceled, does this mean that my visa is also considered canceled?

look in your passport, do you have an extension of stay or a visa.

To be honest, I cannot be 100% certain, but I believe it is a visa.

It appears as a stamp on my passport with the title "NON 'B'" on top. It supposed to be a temporary kind of... something. Issued on 14 March 2023 and is valid until 11 June 2023. Additionally, there is a disclaimer at the bottom that states "Please contact the Immigration Office for a Re-Entry before leaving Thailand."

  5. My contract has been terminated, and I'm currently wondering about the next steps to take. My ex-employer has kept my work permit book, and informed me that their lawyer, who was responsible for my visa and work permit since the very first day, will contact me about the next steps. However, I'm conflicted with them as the entire layoff was extremely unprofessional from their side, and I can't trust them to handle the cancellation correctly. Therefore, I believe that I will need to take some action on my own.

If my contract was terminated today, does it mean that my visa is already voided, and I will be overstaying from tomorrow? My visa was issued by the Chaeng Watthana bureau, and as far as I understand, I don't have any additional "post-visa" extension granted by them automatically. I've read about the 7-day extension for 1900 baht during the cancellation process, but I would prefer to avoid that, as I plan to do the visa run and come back on the 30-day tourist exemption stamp anyway.

What actions should I take? Can I just wait for the employer's move, or does it put me in a vulnerable position where I may technically already be overstaying?

  6. I've got the work permit and Non-B visa that were issued through the BOI system by the Immigration office in Chamchuri Square aka "One Stop Center for Visa and Work Permits". However, I've got a bad feeling about my current employer and my future in the company. What's going to happen when I'll lose the job? Will I also lose my visa? What would be the best solution in that scenario to remain in Thailand?

  7. Forget about yogurts and kefirs. If you'd like to get any therapeutic dose from yogurt, you'd have to eat around 8kg of that stuff per day (I didn't make it up, there's research on it). Good luck with that.

Quick advice for you guys: As long as you don't know what Lactobacillus Plantarum 299v is or understand the differences between Bifidobacterium longum BL03 and Bifidobacterium bifidum BB01 etc, don't give any advice about probiotics. You only misinform.

Basically, you can't buy any good quality probiotics in Thailand. This field seems to be overlooked, similar to the case of other essential nutrition supplements. However, you can order some stuff from IHerb. I won't paste here any links to the particular products (as it's probably breaking the forum regulations), but there are plenty of choices on that store, and delivery is free (but you have to wait around 2 weeks for the package).

Focus on multi-strain products with a high amount of bifidobacterium. Then take it every day just before your bedtime for 3 months. After that period, it'd be perfect if you'd take it for another 9 months in a mode "10 days on, 20 days off". After that kind of therapy, you'll notice a way more better overall life performance. Remember, we have around 2.5 kg of bacterias in our intestines and they're responsible for many processes in our bodies. Unfortunately, I can say that at least 95% of people have complete rubbish in their guts.

The preserved tight barrier of the small intestine and a healthy microbiome in the large intestine are the absolute basics. With a leaky gut, bacteria and other antigens easily enter the bloodstream, this, in turn, generates an increased amount of antibodies against the brain, heart, and adrenal gland (and that leads to the development of autoimmune diseases).

It's way more complicated, I will not go into details now. Just order the multi-strain probiotic with a high amount of bifidobacterium from the Iherb, and take it for at least 3 months daily. Forget about eating yogurts and other <deleted>.

  8. Hi there,

I'm wondering about the work permit expiration regulations. I forgot about the expiration date of my WP and after about 3 weeks later I found out that it's out of date. I consulted that with the HR in my workplace and we applied for a new WP. So basically I have a new work permit in my hands, but my visa status is  not the obvious thing for me right now. From my research and understanding, my "visa" is not technically a "visa", it's the extension of stay (issued at the immigration office in Thailand; exemption stamp converted to this sort of non-b). I have a new work permit, but it's obviously not technically "connected" with my old visa in any way. My current "visa" is based on the old work permit, so is it still valid? Am I overstaying? What should I do considering the "covid situation" fact?

Potentially yes. They may require you to submit a TM30 before they will process other requirements, for example, Extensions, 90 day reporting, Re-Entry Permit. That is why I asked which IO you will use...  someone here may have personal experience.

I'll choose a bureau located in Goverment Complex, as always.

Where will you extend? As far as I know you are not exempt from TM30 requirement. Particularly if you are in rented accommodation... who owns your place of residence and do they submit TM30 for you?

It is hard to predict what each IO will require.

The problem is that agency i rent appartment from try to avoid fulfilling this form because they probably don't fully understand this procedure. I'm just wondering can i have any kind of problems with immigration with visa extensions or charges in the future?

  11. Hi guys,

I'm a little bit confused about this whole tm30 mess. I have a non-b visa with a re-entry permit and i travel abroad a lot, so there's no need to visit immigration to do 90day reports. I read that tm30 is a landlord's problem but in the same time i remember immigration info that non-b holders are exempt from a tm28 so it seems like there's no need to fulfill anything by myself. Am I right? How about tm30 then? Can i have any type of problems if landlord wouldn't fulfill this form?

  12. Hello guys,

I have an issue and I hope you can help me. I came to Thailand on exemption 30 days stamp, but i want to start work here. I found legal job in thai company and they'll provide me work permit. But i'm not sure about some things. I know i need to have non-b visa first, but how about apply for that in Thailand? I read that i need to do this in embassy outside of Thailand (Laos for example) but employers saids that we can do everything in Thailand and there is no reason to leave the country in that case. Anyone knows how it looks? Are they right?
